This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

No, what I'm saying is you set it down and the character will constantly move to the right. You pick it up and press the joystick left and he might keep moving to the right. Unplugging and plugging in sometimes fixes it but other times the controller just stops working completely mid game.
I may be way off base here, but I think it's broken.

Pirates will be the new zombies
I'd rather have it over saturated then the barren wasteland of nothing that pirates titles have been in the past.

Also I doubt it ever gets that ridiculous. Zombies are overdone because they're really popular in all sorts of media, not just video games. Pirates...not so much. Pirate movies/shows are akin to pirate video games...they're released only on occasion.

Dammit!
All shrugs have been copyrighted and trademarked for usage by only ME in all forms of any medium!

{grabs phone}
{calls lawyer}
{goes to prepare a lawsuit}
Why would you license your { _ shrugs} to only Mass Effect. Seems a bit, odd.

Here's hoping AC4 opens the floodgates for a few more pirate games...upcoming RPG in May:

http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/11/23/pirate-based-yarrrpg-ravens-cry-gets-may-7th-release-date/

By the developer that made Two Worlds...hmm we'll see.
Screenshots look impressive. Watched the video (from almost a year and a half ago) linked in that article...seems interesting, but overly ambitious for a Topware game. Looking forward to picking that up in a Groupees bundle next August.

Don't be messin' with the Smothers Brothers, they're my second favorite comedy duo.
I'm so having flashbacks about tricks w/ yo-yo's.

EDIT:

I also remember also when Pat Paulsen kept running for President.

RIP, Pat Paulsen.

Two Worlds 2 was TONS better than the original.

That game improved so much over the original, I don't even know where to begin.

I still yet to start 2W2: POTFF, even though I've had it for a while on Gamersgate.

I really should get to it.

Raven's Cry looks pretty slick.

I'm waiting for Steam's daily deal to troll Amazon DVG's upcoming sale - especially since Steam had Jade Empire on sale this week!

Maybe we'll see AC3 for $5 today. ;)

Hmmm, maybe not...

Red Orchestra games = 75% off.

Red Orchestra: OstFront 41-45 = $2.49

RO2: Digital Deluxe = $4.99

Red Orchestra 2: Regular Edition = $2.49

Upgrade from RO2: Reg to Deluxe = $2.49

Rising Storm - Digital Deluxe = $7.49

Rising Storm - Regular Edition = $4.99

Rising Storm - Upgrade from Regular Edition to Deluxe = $2.49

Rising Storm - 4 pack (probably Regular Ed, I'd guess...) = $14.99

Being an improvement and being a good game are two different things.

No, it's clearly because I don't have xpadder.
For what it's worth I've had this happen before. The problem is that the deadzone has been messed up, or in other words your controller now thinks the middle is at one of the edges. This happened a lot with GameCube controllers since it remapped the deadzone every time you plugged a controller in (so if the stick wasn't dead center it would mess it up). If plugging it out/in doesn't fix it though it's basically shot. Your only hope would be to dismantle it and see if you could manually realign the sticks, but I'm not sure that's possible with all controllers and you are likely better off just buying a new one and saving yourself the trouble (speaking from experience, it's a lot easier to take a controller apart than put it back together).

While they fixed a lot of the glitches, they also made it barely open world. 2 felt way too linear to me, whereas with 1, I was able to explore wherever the bowls I wanted.

Point taken.

Mayhaps, 2W1 did have more choices w/ open-world and even making some decisions in some quests.

But, that game when it came out had so many technical issues, it wasn't even funny.

2W2 might've felt more linear and had less decision-making...

...But 2W2 was so much better on technical stability; story-telling; characters; actual writing + dialogue + voice-acting; and game controls/combat.

(Of course, anything was in those regards, right?)

Also, the weapon upgrading/crafting system was addictive as SIN.

EDIT:

I had no problem w/ 2W2 being so linear this time around - probably b/c every else in the game was so much better, this go around.

Yes most everything was better, but compared to other games in the genre everything I've seen/read has been mediocre. A game can't exist in a bubble of its own franchise, and shouldn't be judged solely on how well it improves upon itself.

C'mon - did you really expect 2W2 would be in the league of Black Isle (RIP), Troika (RIP), Obsidian, BioWare, and Bethesda RPG's?

I certainly did NOT.

EDIT:

Even though 2W2 ain't as amazing as many of those RPG's by those particular studios - I do think 2W2 is still certainly worth playing...especially if you can get it dirt-cheap & especially if you purchased it during GOG's Insonmia Sale.

I don't know what you guys are talking about.

Outside of Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed, TW2 is the best RPG there is.
Even if you meant TW2 as The Witcher 2, I'd still disagree w/ you.

Yes, Witcher 2 was great - but that 3rd chapter felt so rushed and so disappointing in so many ways....

...other than that awesome final battle w/ Letho and the numerous multiple endings that show your results from your decisions.

2W2 (Two Worlds 2) doesn't even belong in the discussion w/ The Witcher 2 - nevermind other superior RPG's like say PST, BG2: Complete, DAO.

He meant The Weiner 2 : MyDerick

Haven't played the witcher 2 yet

What I meant was in terms of RPGs, it goes:

1) Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed

2) Two Worlds 2

3) Who cares, nobody else is close

983) Baldur's Gate

1289790812) Planescape: Torment

Hell) Elder Scrolls Series

Edit: Wanted to put hello kitty island adventure in there, but that seems kind of to transcend genres. Not sure it belongs in RPG discussion.

You're devolving into self-parody.

Pirates will be the new zombies
And the developers of Zombie Pirates will continue to roll around in their piles of money.

I was able to explore wherever the bowls I wanted.
Is that a legitimate expression?

Then perhaps you shouldn't have brought it into the discussion in order to argue with yourself.

I certainly did NOT.
If I expect a turd to be a turd and it turns out to be a shiny turd, that's still a turd. Regardless of what I expect any game to be, nothing deserves points merely because there was no way it could manage to top it's more revered contemporaries. I'm not sure when you started this trend of accepting mediocrity merely because that's all you expected, but I'm just going to file this in Mooby's collection of "MysterD likes everything" posts.

Then perhaps you shouldn't have brought it into the discussion in order to argue with yourself.
Apparently MysterD has dozens of personalities, so I'm not sure why this comes as a surprise.

2W2 got brought up b/c y'all pointed out Raven's Cry - which is also from Reality Pump.
I was talking about The Witcher 2.

Which nobody brought up but you.

And then you lamented how silly it was to bring the two games into the same conversation.

Which nobody did but you.

Well, the discussion starts back where others were saying, once 2W2 got brought-up there's better RPG's than 2W2. Nobody's going to argue that - we know that.

And yes, I brought up Witcher 2.

About The Witcher 2 - it's great, but it ain't the best of the best in RPG's.

Witcher 3 certainly looks like it might have a better shot at possibly belonging in the elite category of RPG's.

You're doing it again.

Nobody brought The Witcher 2 up.

You are having a conversation with yourself.

And now me.

Because I'm an idiot and let myself be sucked in.

Well played.

This all started when someone said sonic racing game was a good RPG

This all started when we registered for Steam accounts.
And then joined CAG, right? ;)

EDIT:

Im selling my account, I will only be buying from retail from now on. Cya Steam thread
As I'm sure you probably know: a lot of retail-boxed games on the PC often do require Steamworks - i.e. Darkness 2, Skyrim, Dishonored, anything made by Valve, many of 2K's games, etc.

There's no escaping Steam, if you want many modern PC games.
