Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Couple questions for you guys that have played/collected these games.

  • Darksiders II: Does Season Pass include all the things? All DLC worth?
  • Sleeping Dogs: I'm assuming the Collection has all the DLC. Worth?
  • The Wolf Among Us: Pay dat price or wait? Looks legit.
  • Far Cry 3 Deluxe Edition: Worth it? Or go Standard?
  • Shogun 2: Shit needs a price drop.
Any other discounted games you guys can recommend? Going to have a lot of free time the next couple months, so I need vidya gaems.
Sleeping Dogs is awesome. Not sure about the collection. DSII is fun from what I played, but SD is great. I think I put 40 hours into it. If you want an eternal timesink... dat minecraft.

My third card would have four spaces filled, three of them are in the same row.

I blame spoder.

fuq spoder

I asked the same thing in the group discussion. I'm a bingo noob.

Just beat Sleeping Dogs the other day. Trying to talk myself out of buying the DLC pack, but I will probably cave. You might as well get the complete pack now, even though a bunch of it is just cheats and horse armor.

Wolf Among Us is awesome so far. I vastly prefer the first episode to the first episode of The Walking Dead. Also, I am in it!

spoderman is just mad that the ninja game didnt win.

When I got it for free he was all "isnt that just a free flash game LOL" now he wants it.

Salty spoderman
Drabe voted for SotS BTW.. and he did it fully knowing GG had the DLC for 75% off (or 80% if you had the compensation discount). This is why good deals don't win community votes.

I know people say this every sale, but I really think this is the worst Steam sale ever. Most of the dailies are Early Access games or not 75% off or stuff that has an ungodly high retail still. The selection of older games with good discounts is puny compared to sales of the past. The majority of games on my wishlist are not even 50% off, and flipping through some of the random games, there are tons that are not discounted at all that had good discounts or bundles in the past. The publisher packs are almost completely gone now. I admit, I might like it better if I didn't own so many games, but it really seems like the discounts are not on the same level, even for most of the games I already own.

And the "event" is just a thinly-veiled gambling scheme to try to get people to craft in the mad hopes of making an item that other crazy people might pay hundreds of dollars to get for their horrible free-to-play junk games. Sure, it has helped some CAGs make a bit of cash, but I would bet dollars to donuts that at least a hundred people in the world have just discovered they have gambling problems thanks to this event. And making the cards disappear after the sale ends and letting people spend money on them anyway just seems all kinds of shady, especially since that isn't clearly spelled out unless you scroll all the way to the bottom of the FAQs on the snow globe page.

Shit is the best Total War game so far and one of the best strategy games ever made. Totally worth the asking price, but still it has already been cheaper apart of Steam.
Oh no, I agree it's a great game. My inner CAG just wants it cheaper after ~2 years of release.

i guess wait til the end of the sale to make that proclamation though. it's pretty damn early still

and why is "dollars to donuts" a phrase? donuts rock

it should be like, "dollars to dericks" or something

It is possible that from here on out they will have awesome dailies and flashes, and I will have to eat my words, but even then, most of the obscure older games that would have been in lists of "Hidden Gems of the Sale" and such had they been discounted are most likely not going to be in them.

Also:

DOLLARS TO DOUGHNUTS (or donuts) - "The almost forgotten terms 'dollars-to-buttons' and 'dollars-to-dumplings' appeared in the 1880s, meaning 'almost certain' and usually used in 'I'll bet you dollars-to-buttons/dumplings.' They were replaced by 1890 with the more popular 'dollars-to-doughnuts' (a 1904 variation, 'dollars-to-cobwebs,' never became very common, perhaps because it didn't alliterate)." From "Listening to America" by Stuart Berg Flexner (Simon and Schuster, New York, 1982).

I think Star Wars KOTOR 2 is the best example of this sale being cruddy. Last year it's $2.49 in a flash sale, now it's $4.99 in a Daily Deal. I know Disney et cetera but how bad must the other deals be when "save five dollars on a ten-year-old game" is taking that spot for two days.

I bought both the KOTORs last winter sale. And had them in my inventory. And in a stupid, sensible moment I sold them thinking "I won't play them now so why hold on to them."

This is why I hoard.

Torn on a wolf among us for 16.74 On the fence
After having played TWAU Episode 1 on PS3, and having never read the Fables comics prior, I can say that is was damn good. Very damn good. Extremely damn good.

That being said, it's been 2 months since the first episode came out and although we were supposed to get more before the end of the year Telltale is saying we'll "hear more in the new year" meaning we won't get episode 2 until Jan/Feb so there's no rush as the whole season won't be out for quite awhile.

I agree with the spirit of this, but I would think that people who are savvy enough to know that the globes can be crafted into something potentially of marketable value, would also note that the cards expire at the end of the sale. I think each card has the expiration on it, don't they?

Touche.

Also, to anticipate responses:

1. Sale isn't over yet.

2. This sale isn't all about what you want.

3. You are entitled.

4. We CAG are not average consumers, average consumer loves the sale.
Just because you can predict the opposition's argument in advance doesn't mean they aren't correct.

True, and didn't notice that on the cards until you pointed that out.

Great Tarant says, "Hi!"

Starforge was 58% off earlier and now it's only 50% off. So I guess that counts as another price glitch.

Kind of a weak ass price glitch, but if we're compiling a list from this sale, add that game to it.

donuts are still awesome

dollars to dericks is still a better phrase

the biggest disappointment for me is disney's stupidity....nobody is going to buy their decade old games for the prices they are selling them at

if rayman origins hits five bucks i think that'll make me pretty reasonably happy. looking through my wishlist there arn't a lot of games I REALLY want

Wolf Among Us info.
This is late, but I agree with them. You should definitely check out Sleeping Dogs. As for the collection, it is not really worth it. The only DLC that has decent content are

-Year of the Snake (in the collection)

-Nightmare in North Point (not in the collection)

-Zodiac Tournament (in the collection)

Total: $3.77

Some also suggested the Wheels of Fury for the cars/racing. (in the collection)

If you don't have the base game yet, I would probably get the collection for $7.99 + Nightmare in North Point.

If you have the base game I would just get them individually.

You're welcome, hope you enjoy it!

Good advice, although I'm pretty sure Nightmare in North Point is in the DLC collection.

For those considering Sleeping Dogs, just a reminder that much of the DLC is unlocks that basically allow you to cheat your way through the game.  If I remember correctly, you can't disable them either.  So if you're buying DLC you may want to stick to the story-based content.

On a more personal note, damn me for buying Wolf Among Us two weeks ago for $14.50 and not playing when I can now get it for $11.62!!! That's what I get for wanting to do other things with my gf besides sitting indoors and playing videogames.

Darksiders II : dunno

Sleeping Dogs: havent played

Wolf Among Us: Very very awesome so far. Buy from jakenome.

Far Cry 3: too bad you missed out on that amazon glitch last night...7.50 for deluxe edition

shogun II: dont care

this wasn't very helpful.

I agree with this. I played through the Base game last Nov, then loaded up on DLC during the 91% sale in Jan. You can disable the cheat content by deleting the respective files from the game's folder.

darksiders 2 season pass does not have all the DLC available for it which sucks like the extra weapons
