Anime & Manga Thread Vol. 2: Za Warudo!!!

The new season of Dragon Ball Z Kai, that will cover the Majin Buu saga, is going to start airing in Japan in April.

And even though it's getting a spin-off in a different magazine, it realllllllly fucking blows that Beelzebub is ending. Hands down one of the funniest mangas to come out of WSJ in a while.

@ noelvermillion I was kidding about GT. And Gurren Lagann is actually dumb, it takes its dumb/silly ideas and runs with them.

@indignate It'll just be the opening and ending credits.

moon_knight has a special kind of sarcasm. I could clearly see he was joking about GT Kai. That's why I didn't bitch lol.

GT actually had several excellent story concepts. Hell, all 4 arcs actually had interesting story potential. The problem was the execution.

I picked up on it too. I thought the sarcasm was pretty obvious.

Almost done with Toradora. So far so good. I really like the Relationship between Ryuji and Taiga.

I wouldn't be surprised if Funimation made a GT Kai. Remember this was the same company that created a clip show to explain "the lost episodes".

For the record, I've never seen GT. In fact, I haven't finished watching Dragonball Z. I finished the Babadi saga and I'm on the episode where Majin Buu made his (her?) onscreen debut.

I dunno about a GT Kai. FUNi would have to front most of the money (since Toei, like the rest of Japan, hates GT) and I doubt it would be worth it. Plus, what would they cut out anyway? They could shave off a dozen or so episodes from the Baby Saga, but the Super 17 arc is only 4 episodes as it is and the Shadow Dragon saga is a bunch of stand-alones.

I finished watching FMA: Brotherhood and I LOVED it. I wasn't sure what to expect going into it in comparison to the original but, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I've been meaning to watch that for the longest time. Would you recommend watching the origin one first? I've read online that one should watch up to a certain episode in the original then watch brotherhood to get the most out of the story. Anyways I just got to the newest episodes of Naruto and Kill la Kill. Naruto was meh but Kill la kill, just wow.

the first 25 eps or so of the original fma series is mostly the same as brotherhood and goes more into depth with the story during that time. Brotherhood covers those same eps in half the time and then both series go in very different routes. I prefer brotherhood but if you have the time I recommend watching both, the original first and then brotherhood.

I'd say watch the first season of FMA. A major event happens about half way. You'll know it when you watch it, cause it felt like an intermission.

After that, watch FMA:B. The first ~7 episodes covers the first half of FMA, but it's not exactly the same. FMA:B then follows the manga, like the first half of FMA and the first 7 episodes of FMA:B basically does.

If you watch only FMA:B, you'll miss some character backstories, such as Yoki. He's a relatively minor character, but he literally just pops into the story in FMA:B.

You -can- watch the second half of FMA, but it doesn't make a lot of sense compared to FMA:B and the manga.

Seriously, don't read on if you haven't seen FMA or FMA:B.

Unintended pun in the first paragraph.

As other have mentioned if you have the time definitely watch both. Watch the original first followed by brotherhood.

Pushed through several episodes of Hunter x Hunter during the Chimera arc and I'm glad I stuck with it. I didn't care for it so much at first especially after the awesomeness of the Greed Island arc. Too bad I'll catch up with it in a few nights.

Anything on Crunchyroll new this season you guys recommend? Hamataro? Nisekoi? Magical Warfare? They all seem popular now.

Hamatora and Nisekoi are both great imo. Hamatora has really cool coloring style. Kill la Kill and Hoozuki no Reitetsu are both good too, but I'm not sure if HnR is on Crunchyroll.

I have only read the manga, but Niseikoi, while quite fun and enjoyable, breaks no new ground whatsoever in the harem genre.

The only NEW one I have watched this season is Nisekoi. As DNukem said, doesn't break new ground in any regard, but my god. The visuals just POP. I find them beautiful. I'm watching it almost solely for that! (Too bad Aniplex USA has the rights -.-)

Other than that, I have been keeping up with 8 continued or returning series
Silver Spoon and Chunibyo Season 2, and the usual Golden Time, Kill la Kill, Kuroko, Yowapeda, Ace of Diamond and Log Horizon

If you want a good one on Crunchyroll that I just started watching, I highly recommend From the New World if you have not seen it!

Finished watching The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye. A fairly decent series though not amazing by any means.

Also watched the InuYasha movie Blu-ray set. What a lazy release by Viz. The picture quality is not great even on an SD TV, the English credits are junked (both on the movie itself and overall) and the menus consist solely of picking which movie to watch. Changing the language requires using the Audio button on the remote, all the DVD extras are missing, and nobody on the English side of production is credited at all.

Thanks for the recommendations. I started up a Hulu + account and I'm going to watch a few things from them. I started The Devil is a Part-Timer. After that I think I'll start up Baccano (which I hear awesome things from) Is the dub any good or should I watch subbed? I also want to see some older stuff I've always wanted to watch like Slayers and Irresponsible Captain Taylor.

My current queue is Yowapeda, Kill a Kill, Kuroko Basketball, Hunter x Hunter, Log Horizon, Goldentime, Silver Spoon & Space Borthers.

Viz announced some new manga. A box set of the Skypeia and Water 7 arcs of One Piece, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman in both digital and print, Assassination Classroom, and the Resident Evil 6 prequel manga.

They also announced that they licensed Master Keaton.

I could really use some suggestions for series that are fun and/or action-y. My morning commute is about 45 minutes of boring. Exhausted most of my music at this point.

I would prefer anime from the past 5 years (to keep it fresh) if possible. Dubbed would be nice (since I don't really want to read early in the morning or after a long day at work).
