Anime & Manga Thread Vol. 2: Za Warudo!!!

So I tested out a couple 1st episodes to see what to watch next. I watched Kokoro Connect & Arakawa Under the Bridge. I liked both but I think I'll go with Kokoro Connect first. Anyone have opinions on these two shows?

Just finished Kokoro Connect recently, but haven't watched the OVA episodes yet. But the series itself was one of my most recent favorites. A solid SOL with some rom and com'. (Haven't seen Arakawa though)

Nice... boat? You can always play the visual novel though.

Attack on Titan. And if you watch Fullmetal Alchemist, I recommend watching the first half of the first series, then start on Brotherhood. You can skip the first series, but the first few episodes of Brotherhood is basically a very sped up version of what the first half of FMA covered.
Thanks for the input I watched the first few episodes and in liking it already.

Don't know about any sword art, but Space Dandy is slowly growing on me.  Kinda like a Trigun/Cowboy Bebop mashup.

I am rewatching Outlaw Star. I forgot how much I enjoy it. I wish there was a movie or continuation of the story. Don't watch it though if you are a Joss fan, as he blatantly stole the concept for firefly/serenity and to this day won't admit to it.

I rewatched it too recently and one of the things I forgot about it is how good the animation is,along with some of the most fluid fight scenes in a show. The show would like great on Blu-ray,which I hope Funi does when they release it this year.

I have to dig out my cels now. I know I have a great one of Jim and a good/great? one of melfina. I have at least 2 of gene, but idk if I ever got a suzuka or aisha cel. I used to track pricing on ebay for like 6 years of every cel listed and sold for outlaw star and bebop. I have them burned to a CD somewhere. I know...I am a dork/OC.

Just stumbled across this thread,  here's the last couple series I've watched

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiyza = Overall good series but it could have been better.  Too much filler and no real close to the series.  also what that hell was Bandai thinking when they sequenced these seasons?  Having the last 5 or 6 episodes as a prequel to something that happened in the first season and that's after the endless eight (They changed the animation every episode but its still filler).  WTF was up with that?

Witch Hunter Robin = Dark story line and held my interest after the main story line kicked in after the first 4 or 5 episodes.  Overall worth watching but not worth keeping/rewatching IMO

I got Eureka Seven up next in the backlog.  Should I go for subs or the dub?  I'm more of a sub guy unless the dub is really good.

The dub is a pretty typical LA dub.

Been browsing Sunrise's Gundam YouTube page. Gunpla Builders was pretty decent and slightly more realistic (Char-expy's horse non-withstanding), but I prefer Build Fighters.

Watching Brave Battle Warriors. I keep expecting Captain, Zero, and Bakunetsumaru to appear

Finished Kokoro Connect. Not my favorite but it was enjoyable. The middle part where they start acting on desires was kinda boring. Lots of whining & crying. However the "body swapping" parts are funny.

Kuroko's Basketball has been really good so far. About 20 episodes in. It's a generic "high school sports" anime. Underdog team with an ace player sorta thing. Still, it's done well.

The latest episode of One Piece that aired on toonami was pretty frustrating. The show has had more downs than ups for me so far.

Were is Toonami at in One Piece?

I stopped watching One Piece during the Fish Island Arc and have little desire to get back into it. I really miss the early episodes where episodes were fast paced with quick story arcs.

Space Dandy spent a hell of a lot of effort last episode for such a simple message at the end. . .

I thought Water Seven was one of the better arcs. Dat fight with Ussop and Luffy

How do you guys watch anime that are ongoing? Do you watch new episode as soon as they air out or wait for a few weeks then watch them back to back? As for me I do the later, ussually waiting 2 or 3 weeks.

Water Seven (and the entire CP9 arc) are some of the best anime/manga I've ever read.

Are there any new-ish Cyberpunk anime out there? I just finished Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 and loved it. And I've loved stuff like Ghost In The Shell and Ergo Proxy.

I know they made a sequel manga to Last Exile, but did they ever translate it over to anime?

If you mean the manga between Last Exile and Last Exile: Silver Wing, no, there's not an anime.

The actual fight was cool, but before that when they were just arguing was lame melodrama.

it gets better at the supernova arc, and world government/pirate wars.

I don't like it when any anime has it. Plus Usopp was completely wrong which took me out of the argument.
The ship ment a lot to him, I get it. He's wrong but he knows it. He owns up to it later so him and Luffy have a nice Broseph moment. I thought it was good argument worth having. It makes Usopp and Luffy's relationship that much stronger.

And we get the amazingness that is Sogeking out of it all.

Shit, I'm sorry for the spoilers. I thought maybe you've seen it. My bad.
I haven't seen it either though I know all about through anime fandom osmosis. The only OP manga I have read was in Shonen Jump (which means I haven't read any of the skipped chapters).

I wish kubo showed us bankais we haven't seen yet.
It's the last arc, so now's as good a time as any. Kubo did show Komamura's bankai pretty recently. And then there was
the whole fight to the death between Kenpachi and Unohana
which at the end alluded that we'll see Kenpachi's bankai before it's all over too.

What bankai do you want to see anyway? Only ones I can think of left are Urahara's, the 2 dual-wielding division captains, and I guess Ichigo's dad.

Non-captains having Bankai is rare in the Seireitei. Aside from Ichigo, I think the only Soul Reapers with Bankai are Renji, Sasakibe, and Ikkaku. Rukia might have acquired one from the Zero Squad, though obviously it hasn't been revealed.

The other assistant captains are either KO'd or are not important enough, so I doubt they will have one.

It's been a while since I read Turn Back the Pendulum, but did Yoruichi even have a Zanpakto back then?

Watched some Tonari no Seki-Kun: The Master of Killing Time. The episodes are only 7 minutes long each but pretty funny. If you already haven't check em' out, at least the first episode.

Almost caught up with Kuroko's Basketball. I'm really enjoying it. Kinda funny how the Japanese high school kids look better than pros in the NBA. I mean a guy who can shoot 3's from any range and never miss.... But it's anime. Everyone has to have a "special ability."

I think Hisagi is the only other non-captain besides those you already mentioned that might have a bankai. If memory serves me, it was even mentioned very recently that Hisagi got his ass kicked against one of the Sternritter without showing the result of his bankai training.

And Yoruichi was a captain of the Gotei 13 at one point, so it's implied that she had a Zanpakuto. But I can't remember seeing any direct reference to it.

If there are any Grappler Baki fans, it's getting a new manga that's starting in March.

I found this on youtube. My favorite Toonami Promo with the suzuka theme remix. The internet really is amazing...

I really like how the female characters of this series are the strong ones both physically and mentally. I'm not sure if 'new anime' is like that now, but I don't remember many old series with strong female characters that were targeted towards boys (other than GitS).

To this day I still haven't seen Angel Links. I'm hoping I will find a cheap box set, but I doubt that will happen.

Sorry to gush about OS, I just forgot how awesome it is.

No worries, I don't think anybody in this thread is going to show any hate for sharing the Outlaw Star love. At least they better not :whistle2:x

FUNi announced at Otakon last year that they'd picked up the Outlaw Star license, so I'm hoping they do something with it in the near future.
