Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Who pointed out the LootTheWorld app for Borderlands 2? Was that Ashes? Whoever is was, thanks! I'm now addicted to scanning *everything* in my house for in-game loot. Now, I need to play BL2 instead of just entering the occasional Shift code.

I've scanned roughly 1000 DVD/Blu-ray/game cases. I can think of better ways In which I could have used my time, like scanning the food in my refrigerator.

Bit on the Sniper Elite Nazi Zombie Army 1+2 pack for $6.24. I had to tone all settings down to get it not to lag on my early 2011 Macbook Pro (bootcamp of course). Plays well with a 360 controller. Probably the most headshotting I've done in a shooter :)

F1 2013 is helluva tough. It takes quite a while to pass the New Driver Tests. Then when you start a career, man you suck. Qualified in last place on the grid for the first race, finished 2nd last in the actual race (Due to the last placed guy not finishing).

This game really puts a dent in your ego =/

FTL worth the 3.39? Never played a game like it b4
Yes, I think it is. Although you'd do well to wait, it's been on sale for 2.50 a number of times and it's been in a bundle. It's really good, though, plus there's a free expansion coming at some point which looks like it'll add a lot.

Hard CPU, or hard driving? I want it, it just hasn't been cheap enough yet. Plus Forza 5 has F1 racing, so there may be no point if the driving mechanics aren't as good.

A lot of vacant real estate.

And mustard.
Mustard, eh?

Got any of these?

EDIT:

How many forms of drm are with that mustard? Please don't tell me there's an activation limit. I'd like to be able to eat more than 4 hot dogs.
Kobayashi - is that you? ;)

Both. The initial tutorial/tests are pretty challenging before you even share a track with other drivers. Then when you hit the first race the team expects you to qualify 16th place or better. I couldn't do any better than being 2-3 seconds behind the slowest guy in 21st.

I've only played the career mode though so far. So you start in one of the slowest teams. This game's going to be challenging that's for sure.

I can't compare it to Forza though, I haven't played it.

I wanted to make a sarcastic comeback, but really just couldn't think of anything that would work.

I almost bought some the other day, but decided against it. Thanks for making me wish I had some.

Jerk.

It's technically demanding... you have to brake, take corners at speed, manage traction, tyre heating, etc. It runs fine on my rig. If you have F1 2012, you can see for yourself there.

Driving without assists on Forza (or even Gran Turismo) is pretty demanding as well. I don't use any assists, and the only thing I skimp on is using manual instead of manual w/ clutch. Granted I haven't raced F1 in it yet.

I don't have F1 2012 anyways.

Wait - is that guard Snakeybro? ;)

EDIT:

Well, that pretty much explains EVERYTHING!
FTFY

I can send you a mirror for this.

Thanks to HitlerCat for a Blades of Destiny key! You're a groovy feline.
If by "Thanks" you mean "fuck you, die in a fire", yes.
This. Have fun with that monstrosity.

Idio I am still waiting for your review by the way. On the bright side, after 6 months of patching they managed to turn an unplayable fraudulent trainwreck into just a bad game that runs like ass.

I got into one battle and all I could do was move 1-2 spaces. Every member on my team only had like 2 AP every turn, and it took more than 2 AP to attack, so I could never even do anything.

So I played around 30-45 minutes of Deadfall Adventures this weekend and it was as fun as I imagined from the Carlmundo walkthrough I saw.  It's like a poor man's uncharted in some ways.  Obviously the storytelling, production values, and voice acting isn't going to compete with Naughty Dog, but the general spirit is there.  Definitely on the purchase (or hopefully bundle then purchase) radar.

Probably too rich for your blood but Amazon has the boxed version for $13ish. I had some Citibank rewards points so I grabbed it. I'm pretty sure it's Steamworks but I'll know for sure on Tuesday. I know GG is selling it as a Steam key and usually they don't do that unless they have no other alternative.

I forgot to mention that F1 2012/2013 definately plays better with a wheel than a controller (though you can play it with a controller).
My puppy chewed up my wheel. Seriously.

Let me know once you get it and how the packaging is. Collector's Edition sounds intriguing.

From what I can tell it's basically just the Digital Deluxe Edition in a box. :p I don't think it has any physical stuff, just a DLC with a few multiplayer skins an extra gun DLC, making of video and PDF artbook. But anyway that was the cheapest price I could find Deadfall Adventures for, even cheaper than the regular version with the Steam sale so I just went for it.

If it totally surprises me and has some cool swag I'll post about it, but everything I've seen online when I search about it sounds like a lame CE, which is fine with me because I just bought it because it was the cheapest price I could get right now and I actually think I will play it some more soon.

Hmm, I thought it was more like a cheaper version of Far Cry 3, except you replace animal hunting with artifact digging (never played Uncharted, but since that's a TPS and DA and FC3 are FPSs). I only played about an hour myself but I thought the puzzles were pretty cool (as were the hints given through your pappy's journal) and the Alan Wake style shine-then-shoot mechanic was not that great but I guess it made the slow-ass mummies a little more threatening. I'm also definitely gonna pick this up but I'll probably wait till the sub $10 mark.

It may not be accurate, but at least you'll get 3 DVDs and a CD:

That's a fair assessment too. The FPS vs. TPS difference is there, but Deadfall has the whole adventurer/Indiana Jones vibe to it and I felt the puzzles/exploring were more of a focus than the Far Cry games. I haven't played FC3, but from the other games it's felt like a much more straightforward FPS, shoot everything that moves type thing.

I don't want to hear it.

Really, I don't.

My desk doesn't have the right shape for a wheel. I need to tell myself that a controller is just as good. Let me have my illusions.

For those of you who absolutely must have GTA 1 & 2 on Steam, Nuuvem has the GTA Complete Pack on sale for $6.57 United States Paypal monies.

http://www.nuuvem.com.br/produto/1801-grand-theft-auto-complete-package

You only get one key, but dem's the breaks. IIRC, only Nuuvem and GMG even carry this pack nowadays, and there's no other way to get the first two GTA games on Steam.

And no, Rockstar still has not put the DRM-free versions back up on their website.

Be aware that the version of GTA 1 on Steam has a game breaking bug: It corrupts its save game when you close the game. You have to download a third party tool to fix the savegame so it works again... and run it when you want to continue the game.

That might be why the games got pulled... they can't be arsed to fix them. Just like the rest of their catalog.

Monday morning discussion point: is Max Payne 3 actually worth playing?

I played a level and a half of it over the weekend and I was just bored by it. I'm sure diving around and doing that bullet-time trick was fun some time ago, but is that it? It has me working as a bodyguard for people I'd rather see dead, there's lens flare/fancy camera angle stuff going on and it nearly have me a headache.

Oh, and those cutscenes. It's no exaggeration to say that half of my playtime was spent watching cutscenes (w/ aforementioned "special" effects).

I'm tempted to delete it and reclaim that 30g of HD space.

What say ye?
