I picked up Turtles. Because I too, like turtles.
Awesome. We played it a little bit tonight. It did take some configuring to get working right (game chat turns off Steam chat, so you have to go into the DamageEngine.ini file and change the VOIP setting from "true" to "false").

And also, it seemed like despite the patch, the game wanted us to open ports to be able to connect. But what I ended up doing was just turning on the DMZ setting in my router for my PC, and then everybody was able to connect (I think Alan did this too...not sure if Brandon did though). It would make sense for only the person hosting to need to do it though.

The game was pretty fun though. Moves are cool. Lots of nods to things from the movies. The only part that kind of sucked was that we all ended up dying during chapter 2..and it just said "game over" and took us back to the main lobby...like it wanted us to start over from the beginning. So, that was where we called it a night. Should be a lot of fun with four people though.

Man, I really need to check the Steam releases every single day. Apparently, there's a new cricket game coming out next month, and it has a demo up. Will it be better than Ashes Cricket 2013? Well...it really wouldn't take much, lol. And according to the devs...they're looking into possibly adding Rift support...yes, seriously.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/216260

Firefighters 2014 is a thing.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/291910

And Q.U.B.E. had a Director's Cut released that was originally supposed to be free for people who owned the regular version of the game. Instead, they tried giving those customers a "whopping 50%" discount...and people went apeshit on the forum. So the developer responded with this statement:

Q.U.B.E. Director's Cut moving to FREE for owners of the original game

With the recent outburst of negative comments on the price tag on the Director's Cut version of Q.U.B.E. for owners of the original game we're looking to make the game free for all existing players. To let you know, putting a price tag on the game for previous owners was never a scam opportunity (we also hate those things) but a business decision that has clearly turned out to be a mistake. We would rather have a bunch of happy fans that enjoy playing our games so thanks for letting us know that we screwed up. We'll make sure we inform the community before we make any rash decisions in the future.

We've contacted Valve to make the game free for existing users so it should pop up in your Steam library early next week. We'll keep you posted.
The Director's Cut has Rift support. Can't wait for my new free game thanks to the angry mob, lol :)

Dangit Rob, you should have been online last night then.

I actually didn't change any of my ports, so maybe the host has to do it.

For the Cricket game, Looks like they have a track record of doing Sony Ports, but other than that, looks like Rugby is their forte

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Ant_Studios

Giantbomb played Firefighters 2014 on their last Unprofessional Fridays, and man, it's like Warehouse and Logistics Simulator level of simulation.

Great news about Qube. When I saw that it was a paid upgrade, I didnt get mad, but just stopped caring, but that's greeat news.

Yeah...I actually played the Cricket demo some last night...and it basically only lets you take swings in a "batting cage" with a "pitching machine"? (or proper cricket terminology) It even has a first person view...but it seems limited because there's not much time between swings in the practice mode. Based on the controls menu, it looks like it would be a little more extensive in an actual match.

It also lets you test out the fairly extensive creation mode, where you can make players, coaches, teams, tournaments, etc. It seems like it could be interesting...and definitely seems better made than that crappy handball game. Probably going to be really expensive for a game most of us know nothing about though. Hell, I'm still waiting for one of those rugby games to get cheap just to make it worth screwing around in, haha.

New UFC gameplay video up featuring Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate...highlighting the game's submission system. I still think the standup looks jerky and unnatural...but the ground game looks pretty good. I definitely like that you have to actually work to apply a submission.

Also, the "judo throw" near the beginning looked like ass, as it was all upper body and Ronda's hips were nowhere near Miesha and there was no trip. I'd love EA to explain how Tate went flying when her lower body wasn't compromised in any way.

Here's a compilation of 67 judo throws...none of them look like that, lol. All they had to do was have Ronda take a step toward Miesha with her left leg..so it would at least look like she throwing her over her hip.

Another funny thing I read is that they're having to add TJ Dillashaw as DLC. I can recognize that him winning the belt was completely unexpected. But he was scheduled to fight Barao back in March. I would think it would be a good rule of thumb that anybody worthy of a title shot is worthy of being in the game, lol.

Looks like whatever they were doing to Payday to reduce the file size went live. The game is ~10 or 11 gigs now.

Free Heist will be added, along with a sale/free weekend *coughGARYcough*, which also means the DLC will probably go on sale as well. I'll probably pick up some of the new DLC.

As for UFC, from watching the vid you posted Nate, I almost am inclined to believe the people who say the gameplay is sped up. It just seems like way too much is happening in the short amount of time in those videos. Imagine HWs  going that fast. They're all going to gas in 30 seconds.

lmao...that is outstanding. If we all do come back for NHL 15, there's our team name. The Ausfahrt Squeakers...we're neither silent, nor deadly.

Wow, actually, I just Googled it (yes, I Googled "ausfahrt")...and I guess it just means "exit". I did come across some funny stories about tourists wondering where the hell Ausfahrt was and how long it took to get there since they kept seeing signs for it for miles and miles, haha.

Alan, you should have the Q.U.B.E Director's Cut in your Steam library now. I guess they just had Valve add it for people who have the original game, since it's a completely separate entry.

That makes sense. I was wondering why the sign said Ass Fart, but I was pulling into Berlin I think it was.

I guess it makes sense for Qube to be a different listing. Side benefit is it makes my game last even more obnoxiously long. Can't wait for August.

I saw some gameplay videos from Watch Dogs yesterday, and I had to track down a deal on a copy. Gamefly and GMG are already selling it for $48...but I looked through the trading thread on CAG and found a guy selling Uplay codes for $30. No Steam key...but from what I've read, the game forces Uplay anyway...and there are no Steam achievements. So, just adding it to my library as a non-Steam game isn't much of a difference.

I only played about an hour last night...but man, that kind of stealth in the first section brought me back to the original Splinter Cell. Manipulating technology and having different ways to progress is awesome...almost makes it like a puzzle game. It's been a while since I've been compelled to jump on a game right at launch, but with the 50% discount on PC, it was hard to say no, haha.

Yeah, it seems like the game has some optimization issues on PC. Based on the requirements, I kind of figured this would really test the age of my CPU...but I've been reading people with even monster systems..like running dual 770s are having framerate problems. I had to dumb down the settings a bit to get it to run relatively smooth (the police chase sequences are brutal). Hopefully that's something they'll patch.

it's kind of lame that this is standard procedure now...even big AAA games that have been delayed still release seemingly not ready. You can tell there's obviously a good game there. The ideas are good. The gameplay itself is great. It could just benefit from another month or two of cleaning up the coding. I read one post of somebody who actually applied the SLI structure from Far Cry 3 to the game and saw their framerate increase by 15 FPS, lol. Just the kind of extra effort a lot of developers today seem to be too lazy to make.

Can't remember which card you have but you should check for new drivers.  I know I had new drivers from Nvidia the other day and the top thing on the list was optimization for watch dogs.  Probably won't make a huge difference but every little bit helps.

Actually, now that you mention it, I was notified about a new driver the other day, but I declined it because it seemed like it was mostly related to SLI stuff...and I didn't feel like bothering with it, haha. I'll update it now though and see if it lets me raise anything back above medium.

Well, that seems to have actually helped. Thamks for reminding me of that, Brandon. I was able to go back to the auto-detect settings (1080p, mostly highs, a few mediums, and even some AA) and it stays pretty smooth. A few dropped frames when the car chases get really crazy, but definitely playable. It's not max settings, but I'll take it until I get around to doing the big upgrade of my mobo/cpu/ram.

So, I spent some time this week trying to trick the Eutechnyx team into fixing the game chat for NASCAR 13, lol. They pretty much stopped support for that game a while ago, but based on what I've read about 14 being almost exactly the same game, I took a gamble that they didn't change chat at all. I figure if there's a fix for 14 (outside of a patch), it will either make 14 worth buying when it goes on sale, or the same fix will work for 13. So, I've got this dialogue going:

http://steamcommunity.com/app/254130/discussions/0/522728269225599723/

I've screwed around a little here and there, and I've been able to load into a race pretty reliably without losing chat. I've even exited from a race, changed settings from within the lobby, etc. and still had chat. But the thing that killed it every single time was backing out of the lobby. I don't know why I'm so determined to get this to work...maybe it's just the allure of beating the unbeatable, haha. But if anybody is up for at least testing my discoveries this weekend, maybe we can learn something. :)

I will not be denied.

Great job getting them to notice!

Definitely willing to try your fix over the weekend. I could also make a vid of the issue for you too if they need more info.

Edit:stupid auto correct

Thanks. A video might not be a bad idea. Part of me is just waiting for them to figure out that I'm basing this off of NASCAR 13 though, and be like "Wait a minute...fuck that game! We stopped supporting that when we released NASCAR 14 six months later." lol.

Yeah, that's what I meant by "trying to trick them", haha. If they say anything, I'll just be like "Oops, I thought I was on the board for 13 since the games look so similar."

Actually, I just found this video which justifies it completely. He pulls up the sound options at 1:41...and it's exactly the same as 13. The entire menu is pretty much the same (other than the new game mode). Pretty amusing how the "developer" on Steam asked me what happens when I disable in-game chat...when there is no option to disable in game chat. I get that a lot of these guys aren't native English speakers, but God damn, man, lol.

On the "Now on Steam" front...

Among the Sleep is now out...but apparently it's really short. People are saying like 2-2.5 hours. I would imagine it's very much in the Gone Home vein with just being super story oriented. Somewhat like playing through a movie...albeit from a very unique perspective in this one.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/250620

The Forest is also out...in early access of course. No multiplayer. No Rift support yet.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/242760

And then there's Franchise Hockey Manager 2014. Made by the same people who do Out of the Park Baseball...so just a basic stat simulator...and single player only. Might interesting to some though.

Just saw some of the screenshots of the new procedurally created map for the new Rust version, and I have to say...they look pretty incredible. It's unfortunate that the game hit this giant snag...but it definitely has the potential to be really awesome when it's done.

Playing my Madden game against Matt in about 40 minutes. But I'll be ready for Steam night after that. We could give that NASCAR chat fix a real test...or do some of the new stuff in Payday 2...or more Minecraft, lol. :)

New CAG Hockey Steam Night motto:

Never not launching shit off other shit into other shit.
lol...yes. Brandon, after you went to bed, Alan and I started looking for "How can we play this wrong?" We started in Dirt 3, in the joyride gamemode. It's like a big stunt course with ramps and pipes and all kinds of crazy crap. So, we started going for mid-air collisions and death defying inducing tricks. Like this.

http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/3298072094589221203/6847DCE25485BBE6BAF6307FA30AF10FBD0CDD35/

After about 40 minutes of that...we're like "Yeah, go big or go home. Let's play Woodcutter Simulator" But man...that game is so broken. It has controller support, but I still had an Xpadder profile for it. In trying to figure out why, I remembered that the game would make you move automatically and/or spin you around in circles. We also couldn't ever figure out if we were actually connected or not.

So, we moved on to sandbox mode in Garry's Mod. After realizing I didn't have a server set up for sandbox, we found an empty server and started trying to build things. But just when we learned what we were doing, the server "owner" came in and started destroying all of our stuff like a dick. Soooo...to retaliate, we started spawning giant train cars continuously. It was just raining trains from the sky, and we could barely even move around the map. The guy then gave up and left, lol.

Sandbox mode is fun though. You can make bathtubs fly, haha.

And we now have our own Sandbox server. Had to update all of my server files though. So, we wouldn't have been able to run anything last night anyway, Alan, haha. But they're all good to go now. I also learned that buggy that the guy was driving around in last night is totally prebuilt. You can find it under the HL2 vehicle section. There's an air boat too. So, yeah...just drop those in and you can drive around all you want.

Sweet, cant wait to create more stupid stuff lol.

Makes sense about the vehicle. Theres so much stuff, its hard to figure out what is where for the first time.

I also took this video of Turbo Dismount to test out NVidia's ShadowPlay feature. It's pretty decent at recording (way better than Fraps). Just wish they'd have an option to have the cursor not show up in the recording. I'm also not sure why the corners are rounded...but whatever. I guess ShadowPlay is still in beta (like everything), so hopefully they'll make some improvements soon.

I thought you had an AMD Card?

The rounded corners might be something related to the game. I havent run into that; here's two of mine that were made with Shadowplay

Nope. 650 TI Boost OC. The first upgrade I did from onboard was to a 5450...but once I ordered my Rift, obviously, I needed more than that. And everything I read about NVidia seemed to give them the edge.

And that's possible for the rounded corners. I need to record some other games and see if it happens with them too. Shadowplay is pretty awesome though.

Microsoft has announced Forza Horizon 2 will be released this fall for the One and 360. This one will be in Southern Europe and done by the same studio.

Yeah, I saw that on the leaked E3 list the other day. Still not sure which way I'm going to go with Xbox One/PS4. Forza is less of a draw now with the stuff I've got on PC. And no baseball at all...God...that just bothers me. How in the hell do we live in a world where there were like 25 baseball games for the NES...but there are zero for the Xbox One? So stupid.

Honestly, I probably just need to go into a damn Gamestop (ew) and try out the PS4 controller. I still haven't touched one and if I hate it...that might influence my decision.

Also, here's that update on Next Car Game I was talking about:

http://community.bugbeargames.com/index.php/topic,5143.0.html

And I found out you can definitely try out the Rust experimental build. There's just nothing to do other than run around and look at the new scenery. Wangs are now blurred out, but touching water isn't instant death anymore...so that's good.

I'm liking the UFC demo. Submissions are hard to get use to, but the presentation, game play and everything else is so smooth and fluid. I had one match where it went to decision because it was just back and forth non stop for three rounds. The "One punch can end a fight" thing is also nice. Been a few times where I was so gassed and threw a punch and got knocked out because of a beautiful counter to it. I'm quite impressed and pleased with it.

Twitch it, Gary. I want to watch. (damn, that sounded sexy...and I like it).

EDIT - Nevermind, I think I found it. Just came up differently from the search.
