Not exactly related to a "CE Guide" but I pre-ordered the Diablo 3 book of tyrael from Amazon about a month ago. Originally when I preordered the book said it would be released on Oct 31, 2013. Then a few days ago I got an email saying that the ship date had been changed, and that I was supposed to receive my copy on the 9th. That got me curious, so I logged on to amazon only to find that the book was actually listed as in-stock! Apparently the book was released on Oct 1st.

My question is, if I preordered the book, wasn't I supposed to get it on release date? Why would they delay shipping the book to me even though I preordered, even I could have ordered a 2nd copy right then and (with my Prime shipping) received it before my pre-order book even arrived? Doesn't seem like a stock or backorder issue, since the book is listed right there as being in stock on their website.

Is that kind of thing common? I was tempted to just re-order the book and cancel my unshipped pre-order, but I did see that the current in-stock price was slightly higher than the preorder price I got, and it's coming in a few days anyway so I will just wait. I'm mainly just curious if this kind of thing is common when pre-ordering?

Only happened to me when the publisher screwed up the release date or amount shipped.  Amazon probably didn't get notification from them when they were coming in, as the 31st was just a place holder date.  As far as in stock, since its sunday, your order would go out with the preorders that showing as mine being delivered on the 8th.

Yeah I just got concurrent emails from Amazon saying that BOTH my Pokemon and Disgaea hard covers got delays. Disgaea won't be in stock until the 15th (never mind that I've had it preordered since August) and Pokemon is now 10/22 (this one is probably my fault I just preordered it about 3 weeks ago).

It's becoming a common occurrence with Amazon and CE guides. They have them for such a lower price than places like Gamestop and people don't mind waiting a few days.

just finish the demo for 13-3. i'm really diggin the new look and combat style.  this game might bring me back to jrpg. played 7,8,9,10 and stopped there.

While this can't really be said for Xillia, as that game's non-essential content was horribly dummed down, Tales games are usually far too complex, precise, and finicky for the guides to be worth anything. The one for Symphonia, for instance, is beyond useless. Hopefully it looks nice, though, as I always find value in these CE guides having high quality presentation.
