I do need to get to DA:O. It looks very like an updated Baldur's Gate as far as gameplay goes, and I enjoyed that a lot when it came out, though I never played the expansion or sequel. I've been trying to decide whether I should go back and play the entire BG series (there's a mod that lets you play the whole series in the BG2 engine as a single huge seamless game) or just go straight to DA:O.Played the first 5 hours or so of Dragon Age: Origins. Hasn't quite hooked me like Mass Effect did just yet, but I am really enjoying it. Great environments and characters so far and the combat is pretty fun as well. Definitely looking forward to playing more
The one problem I had with BG is that it was such a static game. There was no replayability if you did everything on your first run through. I managed to push myself through a second run by playing a solo fighter/mage; the challenge helped quite a bit. All the maps, quests, and monsters were exactly the same, though, which made it really rough. Not sure if DA:O is the same way or not.
