Played the first 5 hours or so of Dragon Age: Origins. Hasn't quite hooked me like Mass Effect did just yet, but I am really enjoying it. Great environments and characters so far and the combat is pretty fun as well. Definitely looking forward to playing more
I do need to get to DA:O. It looks very like an updated Baldur's Gate as far as gameplay goes, and I enjoyed that a lot when it came out, though I never played the expansion or sequel. I've been trying to decide whether I should go back and play the entire BG series (there's a mod that lets you play the whole series in the BG2 engine as a single huge seamless game) or just go straight to DA:O.

The one problem I had with BG is that it was such a static game. There was no replayability if you did everything on your first run through. I managed to push myself through a second run by playing a solo fighter/mage; the challenge helped quite a bit. All the maps, quests, and monsters were exactly the same, though, which made it really rough. Not sure if DA:O is the same way or not.

DA2 is the repetitive one with copy and pasted maps and such. DAO is great cause its like a traveling adventure story. The combat seems slow as hell though after playing the 2nd one and going back.

Lol, I'm keeping the LE at Best Buy. I have the $150 one pre-ordered at Amazon that will likely get cancelled, you're more than welcome to that one. Edit: Ha, I just checked that pre-order thread, now I know what youre talking about. "I got one of each for every system guys, which one should I keep?"
Yeah those guys are dicks. And I'm clearly saying hey someone sell one to me and no one is taking it. But when I say I have 15 Ghost editions to sell for profit, I get 100 angry PMs.

But yeah the $150 one is too much for me. I don't really want to get the $100 one, but figuring I can sell the one that comes in the bundle for at least $40-45 right away and offset some of the cost.

So this is still purely hypothetical, but because we've been doing a lot of streaming lately it had me thinking about it again: if I was to participate in Extra Life this year, would any of you consider donating?

For those that don't know, Extra Life is a 24h charity gaming marathon designed to raise money for children's hospitals. I've wanted to do it for awhile but wasn't able to live stream (which is half the fun) until this year, so I'm strongly considering taking part if I can find people willing to sponsor me.

Also if anyone here has/is participating, feel free to share any thoughts/tips you have for it.

UPDATE: Not Second Son though unfortunately

My wife's car died, jumped it hoping it was the battery, but nope. Couldnt get anywhere to get a new one before the car died again. Looks like alternator probably died. Car overheated and coolant went everywhere. Got it to the car place down the road just as it died again. Not looking forward to their call tomorrow for the damage.
I had the -exact- same thing happen to me. I could get it to start long enough to go for a while then it would die while I was driving and I'd lose power steering and everything else. on my trek to get it to the shop it overheated, smoke started pouring out of the hood and it leaked coolant all over the place. for me my radiator had a crack in it or some such thing. I just gave it to a charity car salvager for the tax write off since the repairs were worth more than the car.

I love what I have played of BG, but every time I start I get about 10 hours in and stop. I really need to finish them sometime. Maybe they should just do BG 3. That would give me the push I need

So FXX is airing the Simpsons in widescreen? C'mon man! That is disgusting.

Son of a bitch, they said this would never come on Blu Ray so I bought the DVD set.
Ehh, I wouldn't get too upset just yet. No word on whether this is just an upscale or a proper remastering. I'm HOPING it's the latter but my bet is they're only upping the resolution and cropping the image for widescreen displays. If that's the case you're still good with the DVDs.

Regardless I hope this encourages more people to experience the show.

What kind of turnaround do you guys get from GF? I think this took a day to ship then two days to arrive. 3 days total to get a game plus the time from sending the game back to GF seems like it would eat up a lot of a month.
Luckily I live in a city with one of their warehouses so I always get games within 2 days. My returns typically get back the same night/following morning. I actually got Tearaway the day of release. It only sucked because I'd sometimes change my mind about what I wanted at the last minute and the game was already on its way.

I'll sponsor you at $1.25/hour, minimum $20.

fuck

And I'm at the point where I'm good enough that I can skip two games, play one and heal up my whole clan to healthy and skip two. So with this method I'll only have to play 1/3 of the games!

You make it sound like its a horrible game.

Speaking of horrible games. Im done with Strider. Finally. Im glad it was free. I also ended my plat drought. Time to start racking up plats again now that im on a hiatus from TLOU MP and im soon to be done with DOS.

Yea i saw that, Chieh Chen is my numba one gurl now.

Just opened the mailer for my first Gamefly game (Ys:MoC). They use the exact same packaging for Vita games as they do for discs; I couldn't even tell at first the game was in there since they're so small and light.

I remember Blockbuster Online would let you return discs to the store, where they'd scan the disc and another one would immediately get sent out. It'd be nice if GF had some mechanic like that, but I'm not seeing one on the page.
It is best to do a multi game subscription so that you always have games coming and going, their shipping is usually around 2-3 days to me and about the same to receive the games back.

well to be fair the car was probably only worth around $400. I only drive hand me down junk cars that I don't care about and drive them in to the ground (although my wife gave me her pre-marriage '99 saab when the above happened and I really like it so I'm trying to care a bit more now).
yeah I thought about it after and figured that. I was thinking of a cracked engine block when you said you got rid of it. Thought better about it later.

Strider was mad good bruh.

Yo fuk Counterspy, talk about wasted potential, you do the same shit in the same levels all over again, it coulda been a really good Shadow Complex clone but nope, its sucks butt cheeks. The animation and art is so good too, fuk im mad!

It's not horrible, but I want to finish off the MP as soon as possible on PS3. I really like the MP, but I'm just tired of playing it when I know I'll be moving on from this version in a couple weeks and unless I'm mistaken, nothing carries over.

Just finished MGR: Revengeance. The combat got to be more fun as I got further in and both got a better handle on it and upgraded my stuff a ton. Never did think Jack was an even slightly interesting character, but Sam and Armstrong were both cool and fun as hell. It's worth getting to the end just to see that stuff, IMO.

Super dumb game overall, but for a free PS+ game it's worth the playthrough.

My friend and I have an Extra Life team setup. We're going to be giving out prizes throughout the stream. I was going to ask for donations too. You beat me to it! We'll mostly be streaming co-op on XB1 and PS4 if you wanna join up too.

Wow, I just looked at the trophy list for MM10 thinking that such an old game would be an easy 100% like VF2 was. Nope. Doesn't look easy in the slightest.

This is interesting because the first few episodes of The Wire on Amazon Prime were 4:3 and not HD, but I think starting with the 3rd episode it is 16:9 and seems to be HD?

We are talking about The Wire, right? It doesn't appear cropped, but admittedly I was assuming this is how the show was originally. I'll be wary when we watch another episode.
