As title says. Buy a digital version of Destiny for 360 or PS3 and get a free upgrade to the Xbox One/PS4 digital version. Kind of a PSA more than a real deal but saw this at Neogaf.

Note 1: You must claim the Xbox One (standard or digital guardian) or PS4 version (standard or digital guardian) by January 15th 2015. You can do this online without even owning a PS4 or Xbox One console.  Simply go to the respective companies online store and claim your free upgrade license (by January 15th). If you do this you can then download the upgraded version at any time in the future.

Note 2: the deal is not cross console. You can't buy the 360 version then upgrade to the PS4 version. You have to do 360/Xbox One or PS3/PS4.

Working for me now too, I had pre-ordered PS3 Guardian Edition and now finally am able to download it on my PS4 as well.  Only when I access the PSN store via my PS4 itself though, if I try the web store its still messed up and wants me to rebuy it again.  Probably have that updated sometime tomorrow.

The whole thing isn't a huge deal, only made me wait 18 hours extra and I did get essentially two copies of the game for the price of one. But its a pretty terrible experience for my first PSN pre-order, and makes me doubt I will ever pre-order anything from the PSN store ever again.

PS4 version is 18 gig download by the way, and it only seems to download a 200 meg launcher from the store (same as beta).  I had to run the launcher to get the full 18 gigs to start downloading, fortunately with a 100 Mbps internet link it should be down in under an hour.

Can confirm, all who pre-ordered on the ps3 can now download the ps4 version (of which they preordered; deluxe or standard) in the playstation store

Good lord, Destiny Xbox One is downloading fast. 76% done in an hour and 25 minutes. Really pushing my 20Mb/sec downstream.

Nice little flip today for digital. Sold my physical for digital ended up paying under $40 for Destiny 360 and One. Nice!

Mine downloaded in about 45min! Xbox One I love you!
Man, I wish these companies could come up with real financial incentives on these console-based digital downloads.

I want Destiny on my hard drive, disc-free. But to do that, I sacrifice so many benefits from Best Buy's disc retail release: the 20% off with Gamers Club Unlocked, the $10 pre-order certificate....

Knowing I'll spend the Best Buy certificate, that's essentially a difference of $65 (after taxes) versus $42 (after taxes). I can't justify that; few of us can.

And that's to say nothing of the fact that I can trade-in the disc-released game later!
The best thing I'm doing is buying it from best buy to get the best deal and when it goes in special I get the digital version of it cheaper and sell my disk copy.

Cheapest way to get it at launch was using 6 of the $5 off coupons for GameStop on PSN credit to get $60 in PSN dollars for $30. I figured I wouldn't be able to beat that for a while.

You have to be logged into the other person's gamertag to play at all. The XB1 copy is tied to their account.
Have you tried this or is this all assumption? You could be right, but it seems you're implying other accounts on the same system wouldn't be able to play at all.

So is there no Digital Guardian Edition for the Xbox 360? I could only find the basic version and the separate season pass through the dashboard, and wasn't sure if I downloaded each of them that it would allow me to get the DGE for the Xbox One.

Is that only for the Xbox One?

I was planning on buying that tonight and downloading the DGE for Xbox One as well.

I suppose I can just buy the digital edition of Destiny and just get the free Xbox One version and pick up the season passes for the two of them later.

Can anybody confirm that when redeeming the sparrow, vanguard & limited edition dlc on the xbox 360 it will show up free on the xbox one?

I would assume that the xb1 version counts as a separate game, not a license transfer. If this is the case, if you were to dl it on your Xbox 1 with his gt, then you could play on your gt, as its the first download. If he were to get an xb1 later, he could do said license transfer, and get to play it only on that gt on his xb1.

you will have to keep his profile on your Xbox to continue to use it .

Update. A few people on GameFAQS reported it doesn't work, but those posts were prior to the release of the game. Has anyone that talked about it in this thread been succssful?

I got to hand it to Bungie and Microsoft. They did good with this deal, (at least my experience was a good one). Got my 360 version of Destiny, and then was able to get my free Xbox One version with no trouble. Both downloads, just shy of 25GB, took about 2 hours total. Gameplay was hiccup free, no lag, and I got into a game with friends in no time. Good job, guys.

FYI if not posted sooner 360 doesn't do complete editions of download titles so there's no Digital Guardian Edition on there, you have to buy game & expansion pass seperately.

Well just got done playing for today on the PS3. Maybe its just me, but the game looks way better and sharper than during Beta. I can't imagine how it looks on the PS4/Xbone

On a side note, I still can't believe I shelled 80+ bucks on a game...haven't done that in a long long time, heck $20 has been my top. Part of me is happy I went ahead and dove in, but the CAG in me has mixed feelings :argue:

Does BB have the digital edition for sale? I see GS does?
I think they do have it but only the Digital Guardian as far as I could tell :

This is a long shot, but doesn't hurt to ask.

If anyone who is buying this game digitally on 360 and has no plans to play the XB1 version, I'm offering PayPal or Amazon GC of your choice in order for me to download this game to my Xbox One.

Thanks in advance.
You can do this, I do it with my brother, to game share you have to set up the xbox with the games you wanna download as the home xbox.

Example: On the xbox one, Recover the gamertag with the games on it, Share gold on the xbox (make that xbox you want the games on to be the home xbox. After doing so the person who "loaned" you the gamertag can change the password but you will have access to all the content they download including but not limited to Full game downloads, DLC, Pre-order DLC, Limited edition dlc. etc.)

On the xbox 360 you have to license transfer. I own a digital copy of destiny for xbox 360 and xbox one. I have given access to my brother on xbox one and my other brother on 360 access to Destiny. 1 digital copy of destiny shared with 3 people (obviously on different systems) Wasn't a bad $60 spent either.

That would be piracy. Which i think violates the TOS here.
lulz at this being piracy.

The game is tied to that gamertag alone, so you and the original owner wouldn't be able to play at the same time. Not to mention, you're essentially asking someone for their Xbox Live password which I'm pretty sure is a bannable offense.
this is wrong. Don't spread misinformation.

Sharing an account aside, Destiny supposedly plays like an MMO, and your everything, including login, is tied to your gamertag. Skyrim doesn't need to be online. Destiny is online only.
This is also wrong.

I highly doubt it works like that, but ehh, doesn't seem like it's going to happen anyways, so I digress.
You are right.

This is wrong as well.

I've legit tried this today and experienced no problems, we were both on at the same time. We live in different states. Content can be shared as well (collector's edition dlc, vanguard, blacksmith shader, Expansion pass, Sparrow)

There isn't any DGE for xbox 360 unfortunately.

I would assume that the xb1 version counts as a separate game, not a license transfer. If this is the case, if you were to dl it on your Xbox 1 with his gt, then you could play on your gt, as its the first download. You are right to an extent. Game sharing on the one is different than on the 360.

Example: after setting up the home xbox with your gamertag on HIS xbox one. he can log out and he will never have to log in again on your Gamertag. He can download any content you download without ever having to log back in your account. The license is different in the way its handled on the one. The person not on the home xbox has to stay logged in to his gamertag to play but the person on the home xbox does not.

either way I think you should have no problem downloading it onto yours.
You're right.

Also for people wondering. Limited edition dlc, sparrow dlc, blacksmith shader dlc is NON-TRANSFERABLE between consoles.

(Limited edition, Sparrow, and Blacksmith and possibly Vanguard DLC downloaded on the 360 will not migrate to the XBOX ONE version. even if the items are already equipped on the 360, they will become unuseable saying in the text that DLC is Required)

Hope this answers some questions about Destiny in the Xbox Family.

It makes me feel a bit sick, to be honest. I was strongly considering waiting and seeing what kind of amazing Black Friday deals there would be on it, but I ultimately decided to jump in when the playerbase was still fresh.

Stupid question time:

Has anyone who redeemed the LE Expansion Pass on XB1 tried to download the pass on Xbox 360? I have an LE XB1 code and I'm curious to know if it shows up for free when redeeming for XB1 first, or if it HAS to an LE code for Xbox 360 to get both.

Also, the LE bonus DLC (Ghost skin, Sparrow and ship): Do they work the same way?

^Download on XB1 first and it's available on Xbox 360.

The FAQ states its from 360 to XB1, not the other way around. From reading here and other forums, everyone states that it will only work as an upgrade (360->One), not the other way.

Thank you @ZeroNightmare.  I was able to get a XB360 download code from a member here and the digital upgrade worked so far.  If I could only find someone willing to do the same for the Expansion Pass lol, I'll pay $35 upon release date of the 1st expansion pack, but nothing beats a discount.

Not gonna lie, yesterday night I had a blast. Out of nowhere I was in a public event trying to beat some random enemy with 4 other players. Bullets flying everywhere, enemies popping out of nowhere and by the numbers. Just awesome  ...still that price tag :wall:

I literally answered this a few posts up. You have to own a separate LE DLC code, sparrow DLC, and blacksmith shader to access the content on either system. (I bought 2 ghost editions, one for each system)

I usually don't buy something unless I can get cheap, or at least 20% with GCU. But I went ahead and snagged a Ghost from Amazon and like other posters mentioned had an ABSOLUTE blast last night. I love my personal ghost, but I'm still made about the damage to my collectors case. I'm not done with Amazon yet.

Worth the money, just not with the damage.

I think it's cool that this deal exists, but I question why not reward people with the last-gen version for preordering the current-gen?  It strikes me as a little backwards.

I dunno how it works on xbox but on PSN if you buy the ps3 digital guardian you pay once and have full access to everything on both PS3 and PS4.  I have the season pass DLC, the vanguard DLC, and even my gamestop blacksmith armor kit on both platforms.

I will try this weekend (ps3 at vacation house) to see what happens when I try to login to destiny on both PS3 and PS4 (vita remoteplay) at the same time.  Since they access the same bungie.net character databases it shouldn't work, but I guess ya never know.  It does let you play either one, one at a time, and will keep in sync your character progress.

we already knew like all of this.

I keep hoping to find a Limited Edition for the PS3 (at Best Buy because I have so much credit there) just to get both copies, but haven't had any luck thus far.

Hopefully I'll find one before the deal ends (even though I'd probably never mess around with the PS3 version.)

The cross-buy deal is only if you buy a digital copy of the last-gen version from XBLM or the PSN Store.

...but you didn't mention anything about the Expansion pass. ;) I'm 99.9% sure it's only Xbox 360>XB1. But I thought I'd ask anyway, in case some XB1 player had taken the time to double check that the 360 Marketplace charges for the pass with the XB1 pass code already redeemed.

Regarding the LE DLC, I was just wondering if the content still shows "unavailable" on the XB1 game store after redeeming a 360 code. Not so much if it transfers in-game (I...THINK that's what you thought I was referring to?), but if redeeming it on 360 will make it "available" in the store. The FAQ didn't state "LE bonuses," so I was just wondering whether or not that LE DLC on the console store was STRICTLY tied to people who bought the DGE version on XB1.

a while back I posted what the 360 version said, as well as mentioning the Xbox one games and dlc did not mention 360 at all. We have told you the answer, you just won't listen. If you want to try it to prove usnwrong or something, go for it. What is it going to hurt?

I am also wondering, i bought a 360 and xbox one ghost edition. If i redeem the vanguard dlc on the 360, does it also show up on the one or do i need to redeem the one code also, sorry if this has been answered

From what has been posted the only thing that shows up is the Game, Vanguard pack and the Season Pass content and it only shows up on XB1 if you bought the digital version on 360. Anything you bought or redeemed on XB1 does not show on 360. Correct?

Dlc does not transfer between consoles familia with the exception of the expansion pass (if bought/redeemed on the 360)

Correct to an extent, any dlc like LE content, sparrow or shader will show up in inventory if picked up from the postmaster on the one,. However if you go back to the 360 since everything transfers over the content will not display even if you don't own the dlc license for the 360. You will not be able to use the content either even though it's in your inventory. You need to redden/ buy the the content in both consoles desperately to use them

Went ahead and jumped on this deal.  I had a little over $15 in my MS account I had totally forgotten about, so I did the Kroger deal for $50 of MS space bux for $40 and got the 360 download.  I plan on getting an X1 again in the next month or two, but I am thinking I would like to wait for the White SO bundle, and now I don't feel so rushed to jump on BB's deal this week.  I can still enjoy Destiny with my 360 buddies in the mean time.
