I was just coming here to post that actually Nate. lol.

So, after playing 4 games, I like it but as Nate pointed out earlier on, I'm a huge hockey fan. It's tre, so when I get a chance to play with 5 random (thank you EA for doing one smart thing and not letting there be human goalies....SO FAR.) I get excited. So just to point out a few things from my time playing.

I love hitting my own team mates when they stick tap non stop or don't pass. I make it my mission to not play D and wait at the blue line to hit them.

The Goalie interference is better but still not that great. When you fight, there is no box view and same with penalties as well. The A I refs have made me laugh a lot bow also as they have no idea where to go cause of the insanity. There would be a ref right in the middle of the hash marks getting pushed around by players and some times even two refs in front of the net. You can still bump I to them and you fall but the refs are amazing skaters apparently even when you bump them. The line changes are nice, except when you see a winger open and pass and OH, what do you know, he went for a line change so now it's an icing call. I did notice a lot of people choosing either the Rangers, Blackhawks, Kings and both all star teams. I think maybe one game I played was with AHL players. When I played with a good team, it showed. Cycling the pucl, wingers behind the net looking for an open pass. When you start cycling the puck in OTP, you feel a sense of accomplishmen just because you're playing with Random who understand a concept of a play. Maybe later on we could try the 1 2 3 method. I'll probably be up till around 12 ish EST.

Oh, in other news, I finally got the XB1 system update a day or two ago. SOOOOOO nice to finally be able to snap my damn friends list and messages. That's basically the most useful thing to snap for me.

 
I love being able to double tap the guide button and bring up various quick options. I don't manually record much, but this also makes it much easier for those of us without Kinect.

Also, I already have NHL 15. Where do you think I got the answer for Glock's update size query? :p It was actually purchased for me as a gift, but I haven't even opened my copy yet. Why? I got the update today and still have about 20 minutes left on that EA Access trial. Chalk that up to 60+ hours of Destiny, which also released 9/9.

Um...there's this new place. It's called the internet. I think they have the update size there, lol. Seriously though, I didn't know that. Cool that you got it.

 
Yeah, I'm not off again until Friday night...

I played in 2.5 games today and Gary's summation is pretty accurate. One game I was the Oilers, the next was the Ducks and the last the Kings. The Ducks one was good even though we lost 3-2 in 4 OT's, because there was puck cycling, though not as much as I would have liked.

 
And now for my first OTP experience, haha. It took a long time to load the matchup screen, but once it did, I realized I was the first person in there. I quickly moved to the home side and down to my center position, and then changed the team to Nashville. Not surprisingly, people almost started immediately bitching into their headsets. "Can you change the team?" "I don't want to be Nashville".

Sure. Let me just pick the same boring ass teams that people pick every single time I play them in versus (Rangers, Blackhawks, Canadiens). So fun. I mean, I can understand the argument that not all players are fun to play as. But on the flip side, if the only way you can win is by using a top 5 team, then you suck shit and you can blow me, lol.

At first, the away team was the Rangers, but funny enough, my team filled up first. Eventually, the other captain backed out and somebody changed the team to Toronto. Then the game actually started. Shockingly, the two defenders on my team were horrible and gave up back to back breakaways. 2 goals on 2 shots for Toronto. Yay... And after each goal...the game paused, and somebody quit.

We fought back though, and I found a winger streaking down the ice to tie the game up. We then pulled ahead 3-2 when one of their dumbasses called the puck out right to us. Again, pause game...somebody quits. I put us ahead 4-2 with a shorthanded goal off a blocked shot at the point (no, it wasn't the block and take off, lol...I didn't block it).

I thought this was a comfortable lead with 10 minutes left in the game. But less than two minutes later, thanks to our d-men just letting people cherry pick again, it was tied 4-4. I had a go ahead deflection goal waved off for being "above the bar", and then we lost when they scored with 10 seconds left in the game.

tl:dr - it's OTP...but worse because people don't have to give a shit about their grades.

The other thing I can see happening is retards saying things like "we wouldn't have lost if we had used a better team". No. You just suck and don't know what you're doing.

Ok Nate, you and I tonight at around 10 EST? Going to watch some Lightning with the wife till she falls asleep. Hopefully we can get together in some way but doubtful but still optimistic. Send me a message as it goes straight to my phone through XBL.
 
I'm literally just about to start a game and would love to join you guys, but I see neither of you on yet. Any chance of something happening tonight?
 
By the way, hilarious stat. Today, around 130 when I jumped on to play, it said there were 430 people playing versus. The number of players playing OTP? 600. Good job crunching the numbers EA.

 
I'm not in the blackout area for the Lightning games. Our Cable provider actually has a dedicated channel for the Lightning every season and they air every game. They also have an app where I can watch it from my phone. I was watching the game and playing with Nate at the same time actually.

Nate and I got into games. Hilarity ensued.

Yeah, the "1, 2, 3, GO" (or "3, 2, 1, GO", haha) method leaves something to be desired. Gary and I did end up getting into the same matchup three times (and twice in a row at one point)...but Matt never showed up in our group. We started speculating that it's regional or based on ping or something.

The other thing we tried was if somebody got put into a mostly empty lobby, they would just stay there and the other two would repeatedly try to find it. That never worked at all. Gary and I couldn't even find each other this way. What we did notice though was sometimes it would just dump a large group of people in at the same time...which made me wonder if the whole "finding matchup" screen almost worked like a holding cell, where it was filling up with 10 people and then creating a game.

Either way though, I could see Rob maybe being able to get into a room with me and Gary...and maybe Brandon, Alan, and Matt could get grouped too, haha. But that's probably about it. So, yeah...this iteration of OTP is barely a blip on the radar. Even the last game when Gary and I did play together, we played C and RW...and of course got stuck with some asshole LW who would never pass and was basically going offside every time if you didn't give it to him.

I haven't looked at the forums yet, but I would imagine people are begging for a lobby or even an "invite to game" system already. Because what they have really isn't that great...unless you're just looking to troll.

 
Yeah, the game I played this afternoon featured defenseman streaking up the ice even when the puck was in our defensive end. Or them in the corners when we were on offense. So yeah... OTP, a wretched hive for scum and villainy.

 
Yeah, I'd be fine with EASHL in 14. It's neat that they've got OTP working in 15, but without a real way to play with friends, it's still pretty painful.

Also, Rob, you failed to mention that RBI Baseball is also on sale for $10, haha. Have you gotten your refund yet?

Because of this, I was going to make a joke about Gary being the only one to buy it. But I think he has an iPhone.

So, the latest thing I've been told about not receiving the HUT collection rewards is that I need 20 games played. Granted, this didn't come directly from EA...but then, again...EA doesn't really help or give answers about anything.

This info came from somebody who had the same problem and he did basically all the same stuff I did trying to get them to work. He said once he hit 20 games played, the collections just magically popped. So, now I have to actually play the game. I did win a division 10 title already though. If this doesn't work, I give up.

 
I finally got around to one online HUT game. The guy scored a horrid goal to tie me at one (puck bounces up, my AI d-man jumps to try and grab it, in front of the goalie with one of his forwards right in front of it, his forward grabs it and scores). I then hear him say Xbox record that, which made me laugh (it was a shitty no-skill goal). Then I went back down the ice and scored a minute later. I wanted to pause the game and message him to see if he recorded that goal haha. Anyway I won 4-2 and it shouldn't have been that close.

Yeah, I've run into a few people who will only take shots from the outside just looking for a shitty rebound. They don't bother to set anything up. Just skate in, shoot, and pray. I still hate that EA turned that into a "strategy". At least so far, it doesn't seem quite as effective as it was the past couple years. I've still seen some dumb goals and some shitty rebounds. But the puck is a little harder to settle down this year...and I think that split second gives the defense a chance.

On the flip side of that, I have also seen some goalies just stand on their damn heads and shut down great scoring opportunities. In general though, the games where I've outplayed my opponent, I've won. I almost think I'd be pleased with the balance if I wasn't so gunshy about those huge rebounds from past games.

It had to be 20 online games since I tried at 20 total and it didn't work. Played two more tonight, offered cards to expiring auctions, sent back to collection, and voila. What a bunch of ridiculous shit. And again, this solution came from an EA NHL 15 forum member who just stumbled upon it himself while waiting for EA to figure out what was causing the issue.

The best part, my reward pack completely sucked shit...except that I got Kazakhstan's logo, lol. Fitting. KAZAKHSTAN #1!...(exporter of potassium)

Thanks. Yeah, any time you want to swap some collections, now, I'm finally ready. I know Italy was yours back when we started this. I also have France and the White Prospects team. I also have the entire Predators collection except for Weber and Rinne (those should be fun, haha).

Basically, Epic are being assholes and won't update UDK to support the DK2 because they want everybody to move on to UE4.

I was looking through different forums for games I have on Steam (DARK, Dream, Kairo, etc) that worked with the DK1, and several developers have posted saying they can't update their game (without moving the entire thing to UE4) unless Epic updates UDK to support the DK2. And I guess people have been pushing for that for months now.

Huh, that sucks. On one hand, yeah that sucks that a lot of those games wont get updated...but at the same time, as a business, it makes sense for Epic to keep pushing UE4 rather then update UE3.

Yeah, a point some of the developers brought up though is it could make them turn to Unity next time since that's been a little more developer friendly in terms of VR implementation...and that's business lost for Epic. Ultimately, it's tough because all of it is currently in development. But it does suck that some of the early pioneers in supporting the format are kind of getting screwed over.

But I guess Oculus could share some of that blame for making the DK2 not backward compatible with DK1 software. Just the evolution of the technology, I suppose.

I do think that could make some developers hold off until the consumer version is out before putting much work into supporting it though...which could be bad. You'd think Oculus would want to make it as easy to develop for and implement as possible. I did see they released a new SDK the other day...which is supposed to improve Unity integration, so maybe some things will start coming along more easily.

And honestly, I think the DK2 is almost worth the price just for Assetto Corsa and Alien: Isolation alone. Those two are incredible experiences.

 
Alright Nate, I put up Austira's jerseys, all of Denmark's stuff and all of Poland's. All with a start price of 7000 and a BIN 7100 for three days. I could use any of the following: both prospect teams, Belarus' jerseys, all of: Team Canada, Czech, Finland, Great Britain, Japan, Norway, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland. Also need the USA logo and home jersey. In addition I have all of Ukraine, Latvia, Kazakhistan, Germany, France that can be yours if need be.

 
I will probably head to bed after UFC.  I have to work early tomorrow, but I am thinking about heading to Best Buy after work to pick up NHL with that deal with the 2 years of GCU.

Ok, I made offers on 5 of those (2 Austria and 3 Poland)...which will give you the full White Prospect team set. I'm going to see if I can complete one of the other countries and then I'll offer that for Denmark.

EDIT - Annnnnd done. I bought the logo card I needed for the Red Prospect team (so dumb how certain random cards are just super expensive). So, now those are offered for Denmark as well.

Also, didn't I trade you a Russia away jersey in our Italy trade? Wasn't it the two Austria (because you had one from a free pack) and then the Russia away? It's cool if you don't have it anymore. I just want to make sure we're not buying duplicates of stuff we don't need. I've got a Russia home jersey.

I also have Kazakhstan and France completed, so I guess we're both good with those.
