No I did not. :) I used visacheckout, so you don't have to use paypal. I also got the "super points" via that other code.

EDIT: according to how the code is described, you have to use visa checkout. But if it works with paypal than that is bullshit, so I don't know….
That was the reflex kicking in to use paypal since people claim that their credit cards get fraudulent charges down the road. So I won't be participating in it.

I thought I had read it comes with a Lilo and Stitch playset even though it is marketed as Toy Box Starter.

EDIT: The trophy list also makes me believe that since there is one trophy that seems playset dependent. You can get it either in a Thor world or Lilo and Stitch world. I assume they did that so you could get it with either starter pack.
Unless there is a version I don't know about, this is the one you're talking about. No playset included.

I see the trophy you're talking about though Gator, it's for a Stitch power disc that comes with it. So yeah not a full-on playset, it's similar to the character-specific adventures from the first game. But as you said you're not blocked off from the plat no matter what version you buy.

I'd ask Topside about which version you should buy since I think he's the only one that has played both. It really all depends on what characters your daughter likes though.

Also, keep in mind that 1.0 comes with 3 play sets, where 2.0 only comes with one that Topside said can be beaten in 4-5 hours. More content out of the box with 1.0, and of course it's cheaper.

All 2.0 characters can be used in Toy Box mode in 1.0 as well, if I understand correctly.
My understanding was that 1.0 characters work in the 2.0 toy box, but 2.0 does not work with 1.0. So if you get 2.0 you can use that with any of the available figures, like the 1.0 Frozen ones. 2.0 would limit you to half the available figures and play sets (which could be good or bad depending on your wallet).

The Lilo and Stitch one you mention is just a toy box starter pack, no playset. Comes with Stitch and the girl from Brave.

You are right, I was wrong.

It appears there are Toy Box Game discs that you get in the starter packs that are in fact not playsets but apparently more a group of mini-games or something. The Thor one is included in the Marvel starter (also one called Escape from Kyln) and the Stitch one in the other starter (along with a Brave set of games too).

So both starter packs have 2 of the Toy Box Game coin things and the Marvel one has a Playset included too that is more like the original game. Could they make this anymore complicated?

You're right. I thought I read that on GI, must have misunderstood.

This was my understanding as well. Logically, it makes sense. I do not see them allowing you to just stick with 1.0 and play with all the 2.0 characters. It would mean patching 1.0 every time a new character group came out to support it.

Yeah I understand why they did it, but it's always more confusing when there are several different versions of a game/system released like this or different versions with similar names. (see Wii, WiiU, Wii Mini).

And they are fraudulent?
I didn't have issues with them, but in the past, there were apparently fraudulent credit card charges associated with purchases made from them. I feel safer using Paypal for any Rakuten purchases.

An aside to those playing ToHR: I think Xillia 2 is far grindier in terms of trophies. I've been playing it for about 59 hours now and I have 4 trophies. Out of 49. Give that a minute to sink in. :joystick:

The Visa checkout is supposedly more secure, but who knows.
I was thinking of grabbing a Plus sub but I'm good until 2018 so I think I'll just hold off for now. I realize CC info can get pulled from anywhere and it's happened to me in the past but don't need the headache right now.

Probably gonna go with the Marvel set for $32 with GCU if I can get it online on Brown Thursday/Black Friday. fuck going to stores.
I guess I will try out online ordering as well. I didnt think there was a chance in hell for such a thing, but I will try it out. Especially if I can get 2.0 and still buy the 1.0 Frozen stuff to play on it.

Thanks for all the discussion guys. Confusing as it may be.

Just so you're aware, there is no dedicated play set for the Frozen figures. They come with power discs that give them fancy powers for the toy box and they have they're own one individual mini adventures, but no long-ish campaign like the Monsters, Pirates, or other playsets.

Thanks. So I have to pay full price for 1/5 the content huh? I will say it again, why arent gamers more upset about this (Infinity and Skylanders) than day one DLC or patches?

Probably because you get a cool looking figure out of it. And we all know gamers love them some cool looking figures.

Because most "gamers" don't go near them?
Dont go near what? Skylanders and Infinity? I remember seeing a lot of threads talking about these games here and elsewhere. And not just those with kids. Seemed like a lot of adults with no kids planned on playing it themselves. Which I think is kind of odd, but whatever...

For me, I bought the playsets when they were on sale. Considering each I would say last around 10 hours or more, it's just like buying a game. I bought some figures on sale from $5-$7.50, so not bad. Bought Woody at full price though because my kid just had to have him. All in all I don't think it's so bad. If you buy everything full price though it's a terrible money pit.

Also a new poll, but the last option is confusing. Not getting any of those games AT ALL or not getting them today? I selected that assuming it meant today. But I figure we'll get LBP3 at the very least at some point. Probably for Xmas.

Yeah the only reason I got the original set for my son for Xmas was because of the $18 Walmart shitacular. $75 was way too much. Ditto with Skylanders (got for $30 sale 6 months after release). Most of the extra figures we have were bought on good sales too. And full priced ones are used as incentives for completing chores around the house.

So much for saving my extra credit. Rollers and the Jack box will probably take care of that.

Tried to play some inquisition mp before work this morning. Doesn't seem like you'll be able to make it far solo. At least not without higher levels/gear. Reminds me a lot of how mass effect 3's mp was set up, except this had zones instead of an arena. Going to have cash points for the loot chests, so maybe we'll see free updates for this mp too. You can buy the chests with gold too, of course. 12 characters, but only 3 are unlocked for use. Looks to be a lot of skill choices too.

Jack Box is probably going to be close to a retail game price because they say it costs less than the previous You Don't Know Jack game alone, and that was a retail release. I don't know what it cost originally, though. Still it's a good deal if all those games are good.

EDIT: amazon shows an original price of $39.99 for the PS3 YDKJ.

Info about that JackBox game releasing today was posted on the blog:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/11/18/the-jackbox-party-pack-launches-today-on-ps4-ps3/

Uses the same method of play as Fibbage (people playing on their smartphones). Unless the price is really high (it might be considering all the content there appears to be), this will likely be an instabuy for me.
That looks like it's gonna be a great deal. From the way they were talking in the blog post, $10 wouldn't surprise me. Probably around $15-$20. Wife and I used to play the shit out of YDKJ back in the day so I'm excited for this, especially if it comes with four extra games.

Well shit didn't realize it was $40 at release. I think I got the Wii one for $20 soon after release, which is why I made the price prediction I did.

EDIT: well Fibbage by itself is $7, so five games at that price would be $35. So I'm gonna guess $25-30 now.

I think it was Tyler who said that the PC versions of Ubisoft games tend to be inferior to the console versions.
Not inferior, just really poorly optimized. It's mostly all their open world games that have problems, stuff like Splinter Cell and Rayman are fine (as far as I've seen anyway). Far Cry 3 was a really good port though, so it's a bit surprising 4 is apparently in dire straights, though also not surprising because this seems to be the year of terrible Ubisoft PC ports (and maybe just general technical issues across platforms).

I was googling around and in some random forum a dude said $25. I have some bing points stockpiled since there hasn't been much released digitally on Xbox lately. I'd bite at $25 given how awesome just Fibbage was/is.

Sweet. Never got a chance to play Fibbage with y'all (or anyone for that matter), but I'll bite if it's $25. Those Jack peeps have a good track record. I used to play some other online only games from them in the late 90s. One was a drawing kinda thing (might be similar to Drawful in the package) and one was some crazy acronym game that was crazy fun. Can't remember the name though. Basically they gave you a bunch of letters and you had to write a sentence with each letter starting a word in order. Then peeps voted on the best one. I think.

EDIT:

Yup....Acrophobia is what it was called. I played that game way too much.

Looks like all the previous LBP DLC has been rebranded for LBP3. That should make navigating the new content list this afternoon fun.

So I was just browsing through the "New this Week" stuff on the Playstation Store and came across a Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs theme.

What.. the... fuck

Going to do some Spelunky runs then try for the daily challenge.

Probably going to also throw in some Castle of Illusion and finish off the story. Not sure if it's worth going back and getting all of the gems, chilies, and cards for the trophies but I'll gauge how much I have left of each and go from there.

I should also get around to finishing at least one playthrough of Xblaze. I've had that game since day one and was pretty into it until it got to the serious part and I was playing it too much at a time. Maybe if I slow down and only do a third of a chapter I'll be good.

Also I put Saboteur on the back burner when Fairy Fencer F came out, so I should get to that too.

Clearly, this one is for the ladies.
