I liked the ending

Specifically, I liked the fact that you didn't have a choice because it was up to Joel, not the player. I feel like the "make a big binary decision at the end of the game" is shoe-horned in too often and not all that satisfying in terms of story telling. I think with the push for there to be better narratives in games you have to remove some choice. Because if you really are trying to tell a story with well developed characters you feel like you know or whatever, they should behave in a way that's consistent with that.

But that's just me.
I agree with you, I actually don't love games that give you binary decisions to make. But that's mostly because they're irrelevant or I haven't developed any sort of attachment to the characters. I think it would have worked here. But they're fine to go with the single story narrative, but it just means I fucking hate the ending. Lets go all the way across the country so I can change my mind at the last second! Ugh.

Well shit. Now I wish I'd bought something other than Super Meat Boy on XBLA. :( Oh well. Go ahead and thank me.

Plants vs Zombies news coming out today apparently.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/06/05/new-plants-vs-zombies-reveal-teased-for-monday

I'm sure it'll be Garden Warfare 2. I hope they include a single player campaign this time but I doubt it.

UPDATE: It's nothing. Have to wait for the Xbox conference next week for more info. Probably timed exclusive on X1 again.

Did Joel know up front they were going to kill Ellie to get the cure? I didn't think that was going to happen at the begining. When did that get revealed? Figured they would take some of her blood and isolate whatever and make a cure from that. Also spending months with a person and saving them multiple times you probably develop a relationship and start to care about them. And earlier he wanted his brother and his wife to take care of Ellie. So even then he wasn't so sure about delivering her to the fireflies. Or am I screwing up the story a bit?

He didn't know they would have to kill her, but I'd think they both had to expect it as a possibility. No he didn't want his brother and wife to take care of Ellie, he actually wanted his brother to take Ellie the rest of the way to the fireflies then changed his mind at the last minute.

Maybe because he knew he would have a tough time just turning her over since he started to care for her. Plus losing a daughter roughly the same age

Yeah I understand his decision, I just don't like it. Plus like I said he killed about 30 innocent fireflies at that hospital too, guys that were there to try and save humanity. I guess Ellie's life was worth all 30 of those plus all the people that could have possibly been saved in the future with a vaccine. It was all just dumb to me.

I think your memory is right, it's a bit fuzzy for me. The story seemed to be about how a dude hardened by the tragic loss of his daughter in bizarre circumstances finds an emotional replacement in Ellie. He essentially chooses himself and not having to suffer that loss again over the potential saving of humanity which seems about right.

I didn't like the ending either for what it's worth, but it was probably the correct ending.

Would you turn over a niece or someone you cared for to be killed even if it was the only potential cure for a plague?

For some fucking retarded reason the Fed decided to stay open on July 3rd and therefore the bank is also open. fuck.

But all the markets will be closed. Double fuck.

I think that was the point though. Not just to make an ending you like or agree with.
I know. It's fine that they ended it like that, it's their game and their choice. But I'm entitled to hate it if I want to. Which I do. It doesn't necessarily take anything away from the game itself, but I personally hold it in less esteem, just like I would a movie that had an ending I don't like.

The killing a shitload of people at the hospital thing was dumb, very tomb raider vomiting for me.

Also, how are you tyler? Nice to see you today.

I have heard the name Uwe Boll before, but don't know anything about him. Apparently he has enough money to play golf for the rest of his life, but is upset that people didn't give him money on Kickstarter to make some shitty movie. Posts a " fuck you all" video on youtube 3 days before the end of the not likely to succeed campaign.

Super Meat Boy on Vita! Makes sense. I played some on PC (but really who plays on PC) so I'm looking forward to this. I feel as though every time a game like that comes to Vita an Angel gets it's wings :)

KEEP EM COMING SONY!!!!

EDIT: Also happy Bloodstained will get a PS VITA version!

No doubt. Just seemed you dismissed part of the conversation without at least giving it any thought. Certainly your right. I didn't love the game or anything but thought we were having a decent conversation about it and was I thinking more about the ending then I did the two times I actually played the game.

By the way, trying to convince someone to not hate something they already hate might be the single biggest waste of time. maybe there are examples of someone like ghandi actually succeeding, but otherwise I don't think it's a historically successful gambit. but shine on anyway you crazy diamond!

Uwe Boll challenged some critics to face him in the boxing ring. He kicked their asses. Well, not kicked, because boxing, but you know.

He also promised to retire if a petition asking him to got to 1 million. After four years it was only at 353,835, though, so he called it over.

I am not Ghandi nor CrazyDiamond.

Didn't mean to sound dismissive (well, that's a lie, I did) but only because there's no way I could answer that question. I would have had to live in a wasteland of a world where this infection has destroyed many people I care about and taken millions of lives, as well as threatened to take my life on many many occasions and forced the world to live in a pseudo-military controller regime. I think you would need to really understand what that's like before you could properly put yourself in a position to answer that question.

oh sweet, mega man legacy collection is a good add. and capcom continues its reasonable digital release price trend, $15 ain't bad especially since they know the loins of mega man fans are aching.

I think it was a question they wanted you to think about. Obviously it is one of things you can't know till you are in that situation. Anyway not trying to convince you it was a great ending just an interesting question/point I think I missed or didn't spend a second thinking about till we started discussing the game. Sometimes I pay close attention to a story sometimes I don't.
