Here's the standings for the first vote:

So it's an action beat 'em up, a "role-playing strategy board game", and a 3D platformer. Though I wouldn't personally vote for it, the role playing strategy board game (Armello) never stood a chance. I'd wager to bet that every month the most action-based game is always going to win. While I like most action games fine, I also like the variety that Plus brings. I agree with you, we'd lose a lot of the variety if this was a recurring thing every month.

Also, while most of us would probably do a bit of research on voting, the vast majority of voters are only going to look at the name and the image before making up their mind. I don't really want our Plus games decided that way, I'd rather have the crew at Sony make the decision for us, I think it would be at least a bit better informed decision.
This (along with seeing at lunch that Donald Trump is leading the Republican presidential nominee list) is starting to make we wonder why we elect presidents and congressmen. I wouldn't want the CEO of my company to be someone that was elected by a popular vote. I would want them to be chosen by a small group of informed and involved people.

I'm guessing we do public elections to avoid corruption (lol) but Christ, should everyone really get a say in it? I don't think I'm informed enough to have a say in who the president should be...

You guys are taking the voting thing too seriously. It won't be a vote on more than 1-2 game slots and the vote will only go up for a set of games that they're already considering anyway. You're not going to see TLoU:R thrown in with two indies or anything stupid like that. It'll be three games of around the same cost to Sony and all three will probably end up as PS+ titles eventually whether they get voted on or not.
If they just did 1 game per month via popular vote, I'd be fine with that. Especially if it was guaranteed to be a day 1 release, like all 3 of these games are. Day 1 PS Plus releases are awesome, this month is lame because it doesn't have any.

I think most people are just more afraid of the precedent that this could set. I remember seeing people around the internet praising Rainbox Six Vegas as a good Games with Gold game when it was announced a year or so ago. I just don't want people who would prefer a $2 retail release over a Day 1 indie to have a say in what games we get.

There's some risk of this, sure, but again it'll be games Sony can get for around the same price. They have to have a certain monthly budget for the games so it wouldn't work any other way unless they had the vote first and then used the leftovers to figure out the remaining 5 games to use. That'd be silly, though, and would constrain their planning too much unless they're running the vote a month or more in advance of when the games would go free. So no...I think they'll pick five games for sure and then three games that work with the remaining budget and let us choose from among those three.

Sweet, Armello is now on my radar.

Yeah, but library style. So they send you shit in the mail for months with how much you owe and lock down your library card. Maybe people hang on to them until the annual fee forgiveness day or something.
My library lets you give them a few can goods for $1 each every few months. My kids will lose a dvd or book and we just give them some cans of corn or cream of mushroom or something and its all good

Ha we dont elect by popular vote, its done through the electoral college.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electoral_College_(United_States)

On four occasions, most recently in 2000, the Electoral College system has resulted in the election of a candidate who did not receive the most popular votes in the election.

Greedy bastard.

It was created specifically with you in mind. I'll be sure to post pictures of all the delicious beers I have there tonight.
I am going to a big tasting on Saturday. I just posted what beers I am bringing and everyone got scared and is wondering if we will be able to drink it all in one night now. fucking sissies...

ETA: It is only 6 bottles of this from 6 consecutive years, nothing could go wrong with that could it?

Bought Rock Boshers, looks fairly decent, gameplay-wise. Graphically, it's a eyeball melting nightmare.

Anything else I may end up buying will just be forced, since I haven't bought anything in forever.

There's 20 beers on tap right now too according to their website. Holy shit. Where to go.

I mean look at all of these!

I'm not sure of the history of Surly, but it has gotten really popular around here recently. I've only tried the furious, and the overrated, but they were both really good. I want to try the Doom tree one only because it's sponsored by the hip hop group Doomtree from Minneapolis that I love haha....let me know some recommendations on others you try!

A lot of those you would only be able to get there. They are not packaged. That would be where I would personally go. While Furious and Overrated are ones in your wheelhouse, you can get them any day of the week in cans.

Pro-Tip: If they have a sampler get that and try as many as you can first. Then if you can still function get a pint of what you like best.

If not, Id go with something from this list since you like hoppies: #Merica, Todd the Axe Man, Hopshifter, 1349, Brett Mikkels

If you want to go outside the box flavors:

Spicy: Fiery Hell

Coffee: Cacao Bender

Yeah after looking at the descriptions for all of them, the ones you listed are the ones that jumped out at me. That #Merica one I know was brewed for a music festival in town on the 4th of July that I should have gone to. The Dampfbeir and Smoke Lager ones also looked interesting.

I definitely wanna try the Fiery Hell after hearing y'all talk about spicy beers in here, so I'll probably grab one of those. And even though I hate coffee I want to get the cacao one just so I can milk the Portlandia cacao sketch for jokes.

The Smoke Lager is OVERPOWERING. I like bold flavors, but that one is too much of a good thing. Unless you think drinking a bottle of liquid smoke sounds fun, I would stay away. I am glad I got to try it once, but it will absolutely destroy your palate and you wont be able to taste much else. Unless it comes in 2 oz sizes and you can drink it last, I would look elsewhere.

I would like to try Dampfbeir too.

Thanks for the tip on the Smoke Lager. Will stay away.

Almost forgot, hopefully it goes without saying.  Fiery Hell should be last one you drink if you are going to drink it.  It may not taste the same after a lot of hop forward beers, but you wont be able to taste those at all if it has much heat and you go with it first.
