My kids were expecting a Pokemon Z next. That's how they usually do these games. Two at once, then another that is like an enhanced version or something. I don't know as I've never played any pokemon games.

My windows were up. It was 40 degrees here this morning. I guess I could have also shut the heater off and had my kid freeze to avoid having it pulled into the car.

Regardless, others should not be required to find a way to deal with it. If you want to smoke, fine. I really do not care what people do to themselves. Be considerate about people who do not want to breathe that shit in.
This is america! You don't need to give a fuck about anyone but yourself! Being considerate, especially to strangers, is stupid!

Wow, I dont think I ever had this happen to me. Must have been a weird series of events to lead the smoke to your car. If the wind blew the other way you would have been fine. But yeah, smoke sucks. People should just eat pot.

Yeah, it's a bit odd. There's already a movie named Pokemon XYZ, and practically every Pokemon fan assumed Z was next. Nintendo could still announce that but with an earlier release date than Sun & Moon.

I think it's already been longer than they usually wait for the 3rd game to come out. I'm not sure what the story differences were between X and Y when they came out, but maybe it made more sense to just start a new region? It's been a long time since I played X and I really don't remember anything lol.

Maybe its defrost that doesn't let you circulate. Hell I don't know, I hardly use the heater at all where I live.
No, I think your right. I seem to recall American cars not letting you circulate when using heat, only for AC. Not sure if they are like that any more, but I guess so?

SoA also has some pretty dreadful acting in parts. It was pretty entertaining for the first three seasons or so, though. But yup, show went to shit.

And fuck them for what they did to Lem.
Glad I'm not the only one who found the acting really bad, especially early on. Charlie Hunnam in that first season is rough. I love how he completely gave up on the American accent in the final season too.

final fantasy x-2 plat get.

postmortem spoilered for dumb and long:

this has to be the worst good jrpg I've ever played.

I think I said it before but if you're _just_ in it for the story and a quick playthrough it isn't that bad.  That probably takes under 20 hours to the ending and you can skip needing any sort of guide since pretty much everything is easy peasy.

the game is standard popular jrpg stuff with random encounters, boss battles, items, etc.  final fantasy atb where you can choose between 'active' and 'wait' mode which is awesome (I think active mode will let the cpu take their turns indefinitely if you just hang out on a menu, wait mode will have everyone's atb bar fill up while you're on a menu but no one can act until you've chosen your action).

The garment grid/dress sphere thing is what makes the game good - it's basically the job system from previous final fantasy titles layered on top of stat boosting/mid-fight job changing with the grids.  So a grid might hold 4 dress spheres you can swap between and passively gives the 'First Strike' ability or +20 DEF or the ability to use White Magic no matter what dress you're wearing.  Then, there's little nodes on the grid that you pass through as you change jobs in a fight that provide additional bonuses - maybe +10 DEF for each one you cross or if you cross all four you get Break Damage Limit.  And there's a bajillion of these grids.  well I probably ended with 30 or so of them but it felt like a lot of options.

As a side note, there are no equipped items like weapons/armor which I vastly prefer.  Only accessories which are stat or bonus granting (+60% HP, auto-haste, etc).

The thing that would suck about just running through the game is you miss out on some of the better/more fun jobs - the dark knight dress has attacks that are high damage but use hp instead of mp.  the alchemist at a high level has an unlimited stash of mega potions.  lady luck can be setup to nearly 100% crit (and has a 2x exp passive as well as a slew of other entertaining skills).  the mascot dress is a tank with all sorts of weird abilities but you have to essentially 100% the game before you can get it in the final chapter.  the game is actually fun to play!

all that said, there's no real happy medium between going all in on the game to try to see it all and just running through it.  trophies aside, any auxiliary stuff takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r (or feels like it).  playing around in the fiend arena?  you have to level up and equip up just to make it semi far through the 2nd or 3rd tier.  chocobo ranch?  to get the fancy chocobo dungeon you have to follow the most convoluted set of steps to 'find' it, and between each of the 5 steps you have to fight 8 or 9 random battles just to be able to proceed.  oh and you have to find enough perfect specimen chocobos just to be able to do the steps in the first place.  the post game dungeon (via infinito) with the big bad ass boss is just unnecessarily long - it didn't need to be 100 floors.  it didn't even need to be 70.  slogging through those last 20 floors to the end boss is such a huge waste of time.  you end up running from everything because it's all super tough and it took you 5 minutes just to get through two floors and you haven't saved in forever.  the big bad ass boss fight isn't bad though.  want to play with creatures you capture on your team?  you'll need to level them up!

then, there's last mission - additional content from the 'international' version of ffx-2.  it's an overhead roguelike where you go through 80 (!) floors of a giant tower turn based strategy style as one character.  I hated the ass off this thing until I understood that the unspoken goal was actually to work the system to become waaaay overpowered early on.  because otherwise it's unnecessarily hard.  but again, 80 floors was way too long AND I think it's about impossible to figure it out without a guide/tips from someone.  after I figured it out and got a bunch of lucky early drops it took me a week of off and on playing (probably ~6-8 hours) to finish my good run.  that's kind of my point - how pissed would you be if you found out after spending 8+ hours on a roguelike when you finally get to the end that if you don't have an anti-confusion skill for the final boss you are pretty well fucked?  then you're dead and all your previous saves are probably worthless since you need to start working out your anti-confusion real early on.

trophywise, ugh.  don't even bother without a guide.  there's some (like listening to maechen's stories) where you literally can't touch a button for several minutes or you can void the trophy and need to reload your save.  oversouling everything is awful, but fortunately a guy on tt has the single best guide on planet earth for it.  I'm going to go thank him now actually.  none of it is tough, just tedious.

So, I liked the game.  ffx is the better game no doubt.  the cheesy girl power/charlie's angel stuff isn't too bad (which a lot of people complained about).  but I'm glad to be done with it for sure.

tl;dr the game is cool, but if you like to get every little bit out of your jrpgs things are stretched out way more than they need to be.  also, up yours simmias.

Or the new pokemon games could still be a sequel of sorts ala black and white getting two different sequel versions? More likely they're just doing something completely new because of the anniversary. Otherwise we were definitely due for a Z version.

Black and White's sequels had the "2" to illustrate that, so I think Sun & Moon are two completely new games.

Speaking of old... a dude I work with who got assigned to the same group as me apparently does not have a credit card.  I got the usual "I pay cash for anything I need line" but then he went into the "they are too unsafe" and "there are hackers out there trying to steal your identity!"

While I admit those things are true to an extent, for someone in a technological field to have bought into all that bull shit is mind boggling to me.

Also, I avoided telling him how his debit card he talked about is way less safe than a credit card.  I do not want his tinfoil hat wearing head to explode.

Debit cards should really be outlawed.  They provide no benefit to the consumer at all and as you say are much less safe than anything.

I had to tell my mom to stop using hers.  If you have the cash in your bank account to pay for things you can still use your credit card and get the rewards and then pay it off each month. Or just carry cash around if you really want to.  But for fucks sake dont use a debit card anywhere!

Speaking of TV shows, we've been continuing season one of Gotham and it's still "dope" (that's what the kids say, right?) Good show. I was a bit creeped out by the
guy getting killed via spike to the eye - ew
though. My kids took it better then me!

Yeah, that's why I was hesitant to add a debit card to google wallet in order to buy discounted PSN money from that CAG. But I ended up adding it and getting a $10 code from him, then I deleted the card from my wallet. Hopefully that's safe enough.

Google stuff is pretty secure.

I like that show The Shield almost as much as The Wire and more than Sopranos. Deadwood was great but ended prematurely. Breaking Bad was also top notch and Fargo is the best show that's currently on TV.

Check out The Shield if you haven't already, that shit is dope as hell. Vic Mackey is one of the best characters I can recall. I like TV and movies a lot, I could go on and on about this shit

I tried getting into the shield 6.5 years ago according to Netflix. Watched disc 1 and 2 and just couldn't get into it. I imagine of its day it was highly influential, maybe the later seasons have more nuance. But then again, I have trouble connecting with any series in which there is not much reason to like, or at least feel sympathy for, the main characters. It's the same reason I kicked Mad Men to the curb early, why should I care about the goings on of despicable people?

My target redcard is a debit card because I wanted to save 5% but I didn't want to go through all the crap of getting another credit card
I thought the same thing a few years ago and then it took them 3 or 4 days to debit my checking account and the wife would spend money from it at the same time and cause an OD. So I had to switch to a credit card and it took like 5 seconds at the Target checkout. Sooo much better Especially since I got rid of her.

Yeah I referenced it again Stotch!

I really enjoyed Mad Men actually. I even started liking some of the boring parts. I think its because it got into a lot of business activity in the last two seasons. And had less of his ex wife in it.

Although I have to say I did not think the last scene was as good as Tyler advertised. It was good, but not great.

This is the same reason I just couldn't continue with Mad Men after watching the pilot. Breaking Bad is an anomaly in that the "despicable people" are likable to some extent.
