I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

Hoping to get in on Titanfall...but my carpal tunnel syndrome bullshit is killing my computer gaming this week. Guess I'll have to dose up on pain killers first o_O

The negative part is if they don't patch-out the CEG DRM in the Steamworks-games that require it - especially for games that have Single Player components.

Agreed.

I really like Steam as a service - so yeah, I don't want to see Valve go anywhere bad either. Losing them would cause more chaos + anarchy on the PC platform than anything else, which we don't need here.

I've already got over 1000+ games & a lot of DLC's here - so yeah, Steam better stick around as long at least as I'm alive!

The last thing we need is Windows Store, Origin, GoG and UbiSoft w/ their not-so-great services fighting over who's only going to win b/c Steam went away. None of those services are anywhere on Steam's level.

The ones you care about that are CEG-laced - YES! :)

Games like Gone Home & Enslaved (which don't have CEG) that can work without Steam going once you have the game-files downloaded from Steam - you'll be good to go no matter what, if Steam goes under.

We might need to buy more hard-drives, DVD discs, and other things to back-up our 1,000's of Steam games. :)

 
The big thing from that article is that video games were considered goods, whereas in just about every other case, you basically buy a license to use software.

Being labeled as goods brings up a whole slew of arguments about DRM and reselling and all kinds of other things.

If Steam goes away and they don't remove the CEG-check, I won't be laughing either. I got lots of DRM-laced games on Steam.

Maybe GOG will become the next PC service lead, if Steam goes away (which still is a ridiculously big "if" scenario). They (GOG) need to work on having better sales + a much-much-much better client program, though.

 
Does that ruling apply to New Xenalanders too? Aren't they like the same country or something? Don't their judges wear curly white powered wigs?

Sorry I get all those countries where people funny mixed up.
 
Looks like they finally put the Orcs Must Die MOBA on Steam.  Never ceases to amaze me how developers kill their own franchises.  First Dungeon Defenders, now this... RIP tower defense/third person action genre.  You were short lived.

I don't think that emulator talk violates the rule as long as you own the disc.

Being able to play console game on PC is one of the reason I save up for a powerful gaming computer. I dont have to dig out my old console from storage and can still enjoy my console collection.

I read it all and all it says is that don't pirate game and don't modify hardware in order to play pirated games.

WHICH doesn't apply to what we are discussing here.

is anybody else having it take forever for cards to drop? have over 16 hours on wasteland 2 and still have 3 cards to drop, a few other games i've idled in the past few days took 7-10 hours also

Probably not, NZ is the one the makes a weird flag, love sheep, and wear all black. Aussies drink Foster's, love Kangeroos, and have a bullfrog problem (but not Bullfrog Productions :( )

Wasteland deuce took me fuck ing forever to get all of it's cards, as well. Those other games just suck.

Discussing pirating games from torrents did apply to the rules.. Discussing emulators probably does too but it's a bit vague. Either way it's kind of dumb to bring up

So, Mass Effect 3 really seemed to stick in certain user's craws (I won't name any names--you know who you are). Perhaps this is a good time for me to mention Dragon Age II?

On an unrelated note, the dumbest thing about this story where Microsoft is yet again blowing smoke up our collective asses is the comments section. No one seems to recognize the serious issues surrounding UWP and the morans at IGN are just saying, "Oh, okay, well, you can buy stuff outside of the store, so everything's groovy!"
