I was able to secure a copy of The Hateful Eight.  I went to two Best Buys around noon and one had none and the other only had 1 copy still available which I got.

so will there be a deal for starwars 1-6 when you buy the 7th one next week

Ad was leaked on br.com, Star Wars is going to be $27.99.
Wow, so the Best Buy steelbook tax has jumped from $5 to $8?? I will likely be passing now as this steelbook looks like it will be in large quantity and I can't see your average consumer going for the steelbook over the $20 normal Blu-Ray or $17 for the DVD. I'll wait for a sale on this or if it does actually sell out I'll just get the standard edition for $10 in the not too distant future.

I think it's more of a Star Wars tax than a Best Buy tax. I agree it's a high price and I'm strongly considering just getting the Blu Ray instead but I think you'll be waiting a while for even the standard version to hit $10.

It could also be considered a Disney tax too as they are notorious for running up the price on things. Anyway, early reports are some stores getting in 100 or more copies of this, making this an easy pass for me. Canceled my preorder this morning. Yes, it will definitely sell to some fanatic collectors, but they are pricing it too high (compared to $20 for the standard BR) for the average consumer so a lot of those store copies will go unsold. I'll take my chances on a future sale. Or just wait for the eventual 3D copy.

I think the worst thing is that it was done in the same vein as the incredibly ugly SBs released over the holidays. I liked TFA and wouldn't mind the Kylo Ren case but the OCD part of me would be constantly nagging at me to get the other crappy ones too. Maybe I can just rationalize getting the new trilogy in SB.

And also off topic I hope to god the new Final Fantasy movie gets an SB release because it actually looks half decent, has a decent VA cast, and isn't hitting theaters so some sort of release fanfare would be nice.

The FFXV steelbook also matches the steelbook that Europe got for FFX/X-2 (classic Amano FF art style). Same with the Type-0, but that one doesn't have the same color palette.

There is a steelbook release for it, it cost $90 though because it also comes with the game.
Totally missed that! Was wondering why it was 90 bucks, thanks! I'll preorder but had mixed feelings about the demo. Japanese game design still feels like it's done in a vacuum a lot of the time.

I thought the demo was pretty bad until I got to the boss fight. So I have some hope for it and one thing with rpg games it is really hard to demo them with the short amount of time.

I'll wait out my 45 days for a price drop and if not, then I'll consider myself foolish at the time. I think these might disappear quicker than you're thinking, even at the $27.99 price. Star Wars fans are nuts for all manner of reasons.

You mean $71.99 with Amazon Prime or Best Buy GCU, didn't you? ;)

Episode 8 for you starmask.

Yeah, you may be right. If it starts becoming harder to find (and I'm still somewhat interested) I'll just try to pick one up for $2 more as the regular price seems to be $29.99.

I'm also considering picking up the Walmart exclusive slip copy since it's the same price as the normal edition:

That's why I'm keeping mine, as I'd assume within 45 days, it'll be hard to find.

That WM slipcover does look pretty good versus the "stock" one. Probably find that slipcover on eBay at some point.

Probably the wrong thread, but does anyone know if this movie will be Instawatch eligible? And no, it hasn't only been UV movies that are Instawatch eiligible (*cough*Big Hero 6*cough*). :)

That upside-down title on the spine is killing my OCD. Is it too much to ask that all steelbooks follow a format for a uniform look on the shelf?

how did the hateful 8 steelbook sell out so fast and why wasnt it sold online

You didn't order it, which is why you usually bitch about something selling out and no longer being available.

Stop being a lazy fuck and go make a pre-order when it's available. You can always return it, you can't buy it when it's gone. :dunce:

Yup, what Nothing said and it was also "sold online"
I think the last SB at BB I've had to go in-store to pick up because I couldn't get it online was Mad Max Fury Road. Every other one before that and after that hasn't been one I've needed to go in-store to pick up in-person save maybe Thor 2.

If you just pre-order it when it shows up, it'll auto-adjust down to the release price or at worst, need a phone call to BB CS to get it adjusted.

I put in an in-store pickup order for Hateful 8 in the very early AM of release day (~2:30AM local time).  There might've even been a ship to home option but I don't really recall.  There was also a lone copy on the racks when I got to the store at 11AM.  Not saying it was easy to get, but it super impossible, especially if you didn't wait till the last minute like I did.

Also, my TFA SB arrived today!  Tracking said it was supposed to come on Monday so it was a surprise.  My only issue is that there are some really small, fine scratches on the lower edge of the case, typical of what you might see on other SBs.  OCD has me wanting to exchange it.  Unfortunately, I won't be able to go to a BB until next Saturday but I might be able to have someone check on Tuesday evening.  Anyone have an idea on how many of these BB might be getting?

At least its words. The last few Disney steelbooks have just started putting pictures on the spine to make it easier for international production.

Weird, got my TFA SB version today in the mail.  Haven't opened it yet as my living room is barren as we're replacing our floors.... :wall:

The Hateful Eight steelbook just dropped to $19.99 at Best Buy for some reason.  Be sure to get your price adjustment.  Not sure why they would drop it in price since it's pretty much sold out everywhere.

Deadpool SB now has a 05/10 release date.

EDIT: Thanks for the info about the Hateful Eight SB, Josef.  I emailed BB to get my $5.21 back from them.  Funny how it goes on-sale though can't be found pretty much anywhere.   I'm not complaining, means it was that much better to get it since it ended up being the same price as the non-SB at this point.

Let's hope the same happens to Star Wars TFA as well.

EDIT #2: Emailed BB about the $5.21, they took care of it in 15 minutes.  I think that Sunday mornings is the best time to contact them via email as I've had this type of response time on Sunday mornings before.

Crap I would have done $20 for the H8 steelbook. Really sucks not having Elite or Elite Plus starus and not having the extended return and price matching windows.

It's still within the regular window, as it just came out earlier this past week. Email them, you have nothing to lose.

No I didn't get it at all sorry if my post was confusing. I couldn't blind buy it for $25 but for $20 or knowing it might drop to $20 I would have been very tempted.

lol@all the people bitching about $24.99, I bet a bunch of those snobs at BR.com are trying to frantically find one now.

I'm not fond of the price either but as a collector I bit the bullet, worked out in my favor this time.

Sorry for the dumb question, but what email do you guys use to contact Best Buy CS for price adjustment?
Everything I see says to call them. Thanks!

Click on Customer Service at the bottom of the page, then you'll see the link to click on for the Email Us. It'll be a web form, fill it out, and then send it off. You should get an email receipt to your email address shortly thereafter about it being received.

Thanks a lot!

My first attempt was denied. Reason being that they don't price match items advertised as limited quantities. I emailed them again, asking where it's advertised as such, and got the price match.

It's their price that you're matching against, so 99% of the normal rules for price matching go out the window.  It should be a simple one-step process, or occasionally as we see above, a two-step process.

bestbuy should have a pm and pa button on there wedsite
