Thinking I'm moving over to the PS4. Love the system really and I think I'll be moving to NHL 17 on PS4.

Boo, Gary. Don't fall for the "grass is always greener" stuff. PS4 sucks in the same ways that XB1 sucks in the same ways that PC games suck. You love it now cause it's new. Once that wears off, it'll feel the same, and all that will be left are the people you play with. I mean, I guess if you don't want to play games together anymore, that's your call, man.

John Cena does a pretty good Harry Caray impression in this one

Here you go, Gary. Here's the full clip. Cena's section starts at 5:18. Hilarious shit.

I actually have Trainwreck on my DVR from the free HBO weekend not too long ago. Thanks for the supplemental material!
Yeah, that's the problem with watching comedies on Vudu or HBO or whatever, some of the best stuff is in the gag reels (not to mention...does HBO even have the unrated version?). Granted, you need an actual worthwhile comedy for that to matter. But I think Trainwreck was one of the better comedies of the past 5-6 years. I honestly probably laughed more during it than I did Anchorman 2.

Brandon and Alan, what's the plan for tonight? Rocket League? Division?

I actually get the Extended or Unrated on Vudu with all the bonus features always. Need that extra shit!! It's gold!!
Oh, I wasn't sure if it came with the bonus stuff. All of my Vudu movies are from the redemption codes inside the blu ray case. I know a lot of people think bonus features are a waste. But I find them most valuable for comedies.

Deleted/extended scenes in dramas can go fuck themselves though, haha. So damn boring...especially the ones that make you watch 95% of the original scene just to see like 15 seconds of cut footage.

Yay, we can finally go back to playing Payday. No more microtransactions, and Starbreeze/Overkill now owns 100% of the Payday franchise and is in complete control of what gets put into the game.

Can't believe the next update is number 100. They also announced they'll be supporting the game at least until the end of 2017.

PSA for Brandon and Alan, don't forget to cancel your Humble Monthly if you haven't done it/they haven't charged you already. This month's big game is Rocket League. So, it's going to be tough to get your money's worth when you already own the big game.

Already charged, but thanks anyways. I saw it was rocket league and meant to cancel but never got around to it.

The new GTX 1070 runs on par with the Titan X. Crazy for a card that is under $400.

Its crazy how much of a performance gap the 1000 series is compared to when the 980/ti was announced. Wonder if ATI has anything up their sleeves.

Yeah, saw it was Rocket league, but I decided to roll the dice- I was really happy with last month's games, so hopefully I dont get a lot of dupes like the Southpark one.

For anybody with EA Access still besides my self, Mirrors Edge is up to DL.
Oh, cool. I didn't know they were doing a trial for that. I actually just got an email from Best Buy that my copy shipped. Wonder if I'll get it early again like I did with Homefront. That came the Saturday before release. Seems like the right time frame to happen again.

Admittedly, I'm disappointed in Homefront. Not so much the gameplay. The gameplay itself is decent enough and I think plenty of games have had bad gameplay but still offered quirky ways to be enjoyable (Deadly Premonition, Vampire Rain, etc). But when games have issues with even functioning properly, that's where it crosses the line for me. Framerate drops I can even forgive, because while it reveals bad coding, I at least understand why they happen (too much rendering on the screen at once). And as long as it fixes itself when things clear up, it's not the worst thing ever.

But Homefront has issues with crashing when you go to certain areas of the map...and even with loading your save. Loading takes forever, and sometimes it will timeout and just crash back to the dash. That's so bad. Give me a goofy game with bad AI, weird physics, whatever. But at least don't waste my time just trying to get the damn thing to work. There's supposed to be a patch coming soon. But it blows my mind how games like this (Master Chief Collection, Ass Creed Unity, etc) get printed and shipped to retailers and they don't even work.

Also, I wish the OG Mirror's Edge would get added to the BC list. I played it on PS3...and also own it on Steam, but that would still be pretty cool. :) I still have my messenger bag from my Gamestop pre-order.

That was back when they were dumb and gave pre-order bonuses when you placed the order. They gave me another one when I picked the game up. Guy just handed it to me, and naturally, I said nothing, lol. I then promptly sold it on eBay for $60, completely recouping the cost of the game. Damn, those were the days.

Hmmm. That's strange. I haven't had any crashes in Homefront. Like you said, I can deal with everything else, my biggest issue are some of the side jobs being an absolute pain to complete if they are given to you at a certain point.

Yeah, the Flashpoint missions are dumb as hell. They'll be like "We need your help!" I go over there...shoot 2 guys, and then they're like "fuck it! It's too late! Just get out of here!" I started ignoring all of them. But yeah, I'm on the 3rd or 4th yellow zone (can't remember what it's called)...and there's one garage that as soon as you walk into it, the game crashes. It happened to me 2-3 times. Then last night when I played, I specifically avoided that area, and was able to play for over an hour. Then, when I was about done, I wanted to test it, so I walked over there, and yep...instant crash.

The game also does this thing where when it's loading my save, the music stops, but the loading screen is still up...but if I press the back button (or whatever the hell it's called now), I can hear the game pull up my cell phone. So, it's like the game thinks it's loaded, but the screen hasn't changed. If I'm lucky, eventually, the game will slowly pop in. Other times though, the loading screen just stays up and it boots me back to the dash. I've heard people recommending to uninstall and reinstall. I just haven't felt like going through that hassle yet.

So, am I 4 for 5 so far? LoL. Yeah, Well it's the full game but a playable preload if that makes sense. Funny thing is, I think I over look Master Chief because I play with the old graphics and it's nostalgic for me mostly.

Yeah, it's the 10 hour trial like they do with a lot of games. I'll check it out just to get a head start. I was hoping to have Homefront done by the time Mirror's Edge came out, but the glitches have made that tough to do.

That's why I don't really judge games on gameplay though. Everybody is going to like different stuff. There's nothing inherently wrong with Homefront as long as it works. If it's "not for you", that's as subjective as not liking basketball, thinking RPGs are boring, etc. I just expect the game to work. Doesn't have to be universally praised as a great game.

*Points to Nate's sig*

I really, really hope Mirror's Edge doesn't disappoint. I loved the first one, and am dreading sequelitis.

Same. I played the beta and it felt good in the same ways that the original did. But I hope it manages to add to the series and isn't just an empty rehash. I can't help thinking "please, please don't fuck me in the butt".

Looks pretty good. You just have to hope it's actually running on a PS4 since they've got it all boxed up and hidden there. At the least, they're using a NEO for sure. But it's a smart move for Sony. Better to create a more powerful system and do VR right than put all that time and research into a lesser experience.

It also highlights just how much Oculus is missing those damn touch controllers right now. For as much as people hated motion controls, being able to use your hands in VR seems to be a difference maker. Just playing with shit and trying to break the game almost becomes more fun than actually playing it. When he was messing with the cup and opening the door...just little touches that separate a VR experience from a normal game.

The biggest barrier I see is people having unrealistic expectations. I already see comments on the video of people wanting "non-scripted sequences" and "full games". Oculus and Valve are still trying to figure out how to handle full locomotion (ie. walking around) without people getting sick.

And like they did with the GearVR, Oculus seems to be avoiding rollercoaster games. If it wasn't for NoLimits2 on Steam updating its VR support, there would be no rollercoasters for Vive or Rift...which seems crazy. But they're both just really worried about people getting sick and it giving VR a bad name (even though getting sick on a rollercoaster would just speak to how realistic it feels...derp).

I mean for $400, I'm definitely going to buy it and from what I've been reading all the demos have been running off the regular PS4. I was really hoping he was going to juggle the cup. You're right about the controllers as well. Oculous should have jumped on that asap. Hell, I'm hoping to juggle clips!! But also, I'm OK with a rail shooter like that. Imagine trying to move or anything in a game like that. Even then, the move controllers have thumbpads on them so it's possible to move around in some games if they implement that. I love how everybody is like, "We're tired of this demo!" I love it and also watched the header demo. I think the PSVR is revolutionary to consoles and will really change the game and make Microsoft fire back with a cheaper option with their Hololens.

Edit - Crazy how Sony is making every developer run the game at 60 FPS. And it makes sense when I watched a video that said a lower FPS makes gamers queezy. Never even thought about that. I was wrong about the move controllers. I thought they had so easy kind of thumbpads or D-pad. But it shouldn't be that hard to make another one if they need be. Also, I was watching a video that said Battlefront is getting VR ready. Now I need it even sooner just for that sole reason.

I would imagine they're going to have some speedbumps along the way. Unless they somehow vastly leapfrogged the years of work Oculus and Valve have done, it's hard to believe that Sony is going to get great performance out of a base PS4 (which has the equivalent of like a GTX 760) at 60fps. With those specs, something has to give. Either graphics are going to be worse, headtracking is going to stutter/blur (due to low frames...and sadly, 60fps is low frames for VR), or games are going to have to be very simple.

Making a new PS4 is the best way to alleviate those issues. Even if PSVR works with the regular PS4, I would guess Sony will have a disclaimer advising people to use a NEO for the best experience. The entire VR community will regard EA and Sony as wizards if they can pull off Battlefront in 1080p at 60fps on a regular PS4...with smooth headtracking and clear visuals. Most people don't even think 1080p is clear enough when the screen is that close to your face. I just don't know how they're going to do it. But I hope for everyone's sake that they're not full of shit.

I'm also curious how they're dual outputting the video like that. If they can just use a simple HDMI splitter or something, that's pretty cool. You'd think the image the headset is receiving and the image the TV receives would be too different for that to be possible, but maybe not. I will say, if that is just a straight up PS4 playing the game, why hide it in a box? That should be something they want to show off and brag about.

It's also tough because we're seeing the gameplay on a high def TV, which won't suffer from screen door, motion blur, etc. like the headset might. This is a problem Oculus had when showing off games even on the DK2. People were like "OMG...it looks SO much better than the DK1! This is what we've been waiting for!!!" And then when they got the unit, people were saying "It's still kind of blurry...", "I can still see the pixels", etc. Until you have it on your face, it can be hard to judge how good/bad it is.

Even if they announce a new PS4, it wouldn't be likely to come out before the PS4 and very unlikely to mess with the VR's performance. When and if the updated PS4 is announced, it will probably use the, or a version of, Polaris 10 chip unveiled earlier this week.

That chip - if fully used - can perform very well at 2K. However I suspect that it will be toned down in power use to keep with PS4 power and cooling requirements and will also be paired with a fairly low CPU (albeit updated). The result will be a good performer that will probably enhance stability (FR) in VR and permit better glitter in games at 1080p but not so much as to place it in a class of its own.

If you wanted to read up more on how the PS4 is handling the VR right now, here's a great subreddit I've been following closely.
https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR

Also, don't forget that that would be 40 million users they would out by saying "Oh Hai guys, get a Neo for PSVR!! LoLCopter!!"

They still are, but if they keep noticing (or somebody you played and pissed off and is tracking you for some odd reason), they could flag you for getting games early. Sure you could say well here's my reciept, but to get Xbox live to overturn a banning it's almost as easy as EA making a workable likeable NHL game. They still enforce pretty strict on the One.

Yup, was just coming here to make fun of the "new features".

own every zone with authentic goaltenders, new Net Battles on offense and defense, and bone-crushing Collision Physics
How are any of these new? Hasn't all of this been claimed to be in the game before?

Also, I love how they cut out a bunch of modes because "nobody played them"...and now we get Draft Champions and World Cup. Guess how many times I'll play either of those modes.

I'll give World Cup a try just cause why not? I can't wait for Franchise mode. If it's like Madden, I'll play that non stop. I love the aspect of that mode. I like how you have to play through EASHL to unlock more customization options for your self. Cool, I like it. Makes you earn stuff for playing EASHL. Dozen more celebrations (probably no full team celebration when scoring a goal) and create an arena should be cool. Hopefully maybe even jersey.

EDIT: OH SHIT, ECHL is also in!! Hell to the yes for the Solar Bears!!

EASHL ARENA PROGRESSION

But I mean, you guys know me. Hockey is my sport and it's the only game I play and watch honestly (except for Bandy which I started to watch). So they always have me by the Balls.

Also if you're wondering what Bandy is, enjoy this.
