Does Best Buy price match Amazon Prime price with the discount? I want the Division for 20% off from Amazon, but pick it up at Best Buy (and I have credit there too) lol :)

I thought I had delivery day shipping for ratchet and clank but looks like it won't get here until tomorrow. Bummed as I have free time to play today.

Something is going on with shipping over at Amazon. My dark souls got pushed to Thursday even though it had previously had release day shipping. Cs doesn't seem to give a crap either so I cancelled and bought it elsewhere.

I might just send mine back but I can't find a 20% off deal locally. Not sure if it's worth the extra $8 to play today.

Dark Souls 3 is apparently backordered. Thanks, Amazon, for notifying me THE DAY OF RELEASE. Canceling, grabbing a copy at Best Buy. Amazon really needs to get their shit together in regards to keeping accurate stock counts.

Didn't quite know where to post this, as Lightning Deals don't last very long. But I just snagged a lightning-deal copy of Dragon Quest: Heroes (The World's Woe and the Blight Below) for the PS4 for $17.99. It was the lowest price I've ever seen for that copy, and I had been keeping my eye on it for a while. (waiting for the right deal)

Thank you for posting this awesome deal.

Wow 100% claimed already. Dammit.

Edit: Yay, was on the waitlist and was able to snag a copy!

I ragequit it when they started throwing in switches to manage. Got overwhelming and pissed me off.

My ratchet and clank is delayed until Thursday too, but I just ordered last night so no surprise.

I'm glad you were able to get one. I was really surprised when I saw it on the lightning deals. I had been ordering something completely unrelated, and only bothered to stop by and check the daily deals on a whim. I had already logged out of Amazon, in fact. It was already more than 50% claimed when I spotted it, so I jumped on it immediately.

I don't often see major video games on lightning deals, so I don't check for them very often. Really just chance that I happened on this one.

I've read that Prime members get the discount on digital games for consoles.  I haven't been able to find any...has anyone had any luck?  I'm interested in both Wii U and PS4.  Thanks!

Not sure if this was a change or already known (searched here for a bit and didn't see it) but I noticed this on some new pre-order pages for games:

Prime members save on new release games and get free release day delivery.
Must be a Prime member at time of delivery.

Checking the FAQ I saw this:

1. I have a Prime free trial.  Am I covered? Yes, any customer with an active free trial or paid Prime subscription at the time of placing an eligible order and the time of shipment will receive the discount.

This is a pretty huge change if it is new terms as I've always known Amazon to lock-in any Prime benefits with a pre-order unconditionally. It may warrant a new thread for awareness if so.

So...you'll only get membership benefits if you are a member? The outrage!

Not an outrage, just pointing out that I wasn't aware of the terms until now given previous dealings with Prime. It may be a new change or one I missed so I pointed it out as I'm sure others were in the same boat. Amazon made no clear attempt to communicate these terms via email so people might find a nasty surprise come release day. It will likely affect people who weren't looking to renew or may only want to sub for the holiday month(s) when most games are released.

Personally, I'd say Best Buy offers the better value for your buck and tends to not ship CEs in bubble mailers so my recommendation is to just stick with $30 for two years of GCU versus the quickly declining Prime.

It used to be that anything you did on a Prime trial remained with the order once your trial expired, though if it's now only for when the Prime trial/membership is active, then you can't just go nutty on a month's membership or trial any more.

I'm sure this change is to cut down on the one-and-done people with single month's memberships or to make sure to keep people with far-off pre-orders. The real trick will be to see if you're charged for 2-day shipping on existing orders that ship out when your Prime membership expires, or if they're downgraded to FSSS instead.

"quickly declining Prime"

  They keep adding benefits (or sometimes restricting benefits) to Prime members.  The 20% off.  Prime video.  Prime music.  Yeah, if you don't care about anything but getting games cheapest, then Prime may not be so enticing to you.  The idea that Prime is "quickly declining" seems extremely farcical, though.  As always, just be a Prime member and GCU member.  Done.

Wow this is pretty big news, there's quite a few people who either bought a month or used a free trial to pre-order a bunch of games for the discount. I wonder how they would implement this, charge the full price on a credit card? What if you paid with an Amazon GC? They cancel your order? Maybe it's just bad wording.

Last time when AMZ started charging tax in CA, I preordered BL2 before the tax hike, and paid in full with AMZ GC like I always do. When the game shipped, it drew additional money to cover the tax from my GC balance. Don't know what happens if I didn't have any balance left, though.

when you checkout with credit, you still select an additional form of payment, usually a credit/debit card already on your account. i assume they would charge that.

Shit. Hope this doesn't apply to orders already made. I made a bunch of orders with my 30 day trial for stuff that's coming out later/next year. Obviously I won't have prime at time of shipping.

I wouldn't count on it as every change they've ever made was retroactive, for better or worse. I suspect, however, that they will get a flood of complaints when people are 'overcharged' for their purchase and eagerly refund people who make the effort for the next year or so.

So what's the first game one of you are getting post -prime membership? Mine won't be until no man's sky. Well hopefully know something by then.

Exactly.
Games through Amazon is maybe 10% of my orders. Games through Best Buy is about 99% of my BB purchases.
Prime saves me a TON on stuff I order. With my prime I order for my parents as well, send to their house with 2 day shipping. Something my mom needed was like $4.99 and $6 shipping without prime... Or $8 locally. (But out of stock)
Movie/tv streaming is a nice bonus, but I rarely remember it.

Uhhhh i made an account and got a trail and preordered like a years worth of games and never renewed prime. Ive been getting games for the past couple months and the discount is still applied.

I just got mirrors edge when it came out on an account that hasn't had prime in months and still got the discount.

they will refund the cash and then ban the account knowing amazon

I changed my shipping location last week and didn't get charged the 20% back, but my limited edition watch bundle hasn't shipped yet (supposedly due to a manufacturing error).

The game's developer said the watches would be delayed due to a manufacturing problem.  Amazon didn't make that up.  Sheesh.

Seems everyone that preordered the Zero Limited Edition will be getting 10 usd promotional credit.  Basically I got a mail saying they will mail the game now and the watch as soon as it becomes available.  Wanted to have a unique packaging on the limited edition version but oh well.

Way better than Gamestop. They just cancelled my order without asking. The last game didn't have any special packaging. It was just the regular game wrapped up with a watch.

FWIW I ordered the standard version of ZTD and also got the 10$ credit. My game shipped yesterday and should be here tomorrow.

I've got a question for you guys:

I didn't have amazon prime when I preordered the collector's edition of a video game a few weeks ago so I didn't get the 20% off.

If I was to subscribe to amazon prime using the $10.99/month plan during the month that the game releases (so I was an active prime member during shipment), would I get the 20% off?

At first I thought I would because it says you 'must be a prime member at time of delivery' on the product page.

However, after looking through the FAQs on the program I found that you must have an active free trial or paid membership at the time of placing an order AND the time of shipment.

This seems a bit strange considering the next question says that the discount will be applied if the game was already preordered.

The collector's edition is now sold out (titanfall 2 vanguard) so it's not like I could place another order even if I got prime now.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

well i recently changed that as i usually go to gs since i can put down payments here and there which is usually easier instead of paying all at once but have decided to get some regular editions through amazon to save, have gcu but my bb is usually a mess especially with obscure releases, always get my ce/le's through gs since its never been damaged like other peoples from other places. but prime membership is the best out there, i too use it enough for buying to make it worth it plus early access to deals, i am their with yah with the video, since amazon but up that awesome new cardinals series yesterday, went scrolling around and seems their is alot more free titles and series available to watch now since its been years when it was mostly rent or buy only

Yes, it's more expensive than an annual fee, but you can do Prime monthly for $10.99 (I think).  I think there's even one for just Amazon Prime Video, too.  Again, the full year of Prime is the better option if you want more than a month or two.  It's Amazon's way of shouldering into Netflix's market on videos and offering people who only need it a few months out of the year (e.g. Christmas shopping season) more options.

It doesn't hurt to ask customer service to manually give you the discount. For preorders the only thing that should matter is whether you are a Prime member at time of release as that is when you are charged. I had a similar experience as you with Zero Time Dilemma. I preordered when I wasn't a Prime member but got Prime this year and was able to have customer service manually take 20% off the order after pointing out that being one of the benefits of Prime.

It will not apply automatically like it should. But if you get on chat with their customer service, and show them the FAQ page and how it says it applies to pre-existing preorders, assuming you have a competent rep, they'll be able to refund you the 20%(plus tax) for the order. I did that for odin sphere last month and got transferred a bunch of times. Just keep at it if they give you a hard time or disconnect and connect with a different rep later. They're supposed to do it.

If you wanna pay in increments, you could buy amazon gcs and slowly apply them to your orders. Keep in mind once a gc is applied, it can't be removed from the order unless the order is canceled.

For some reason my ztd still hasn't shipped even though Amazon said it would.
Same with a lot of people. Check the vita thread for more people talking about it. It's a goddamn mess. Amazon doesn't actually know what they're doing. Probably waiting for the watches to come in before they ship. I got on chat with a rep about it and he just told me to order a standard edition and they would refund me when the watch ships but I know that's gonna be a mountain to climb when I'm charged for it. Still, I went and did it 'cause I really wanted to play it this weekend. And boy was it worth it.
