Official CAG Destiny Thread - Rise of Iron

Got 2 of my guys to rank 5. I should do it like this every time. I didn't start playing until Thursday, basically, and I got to rank 5 much faster than last time. I don't even think I'll need to use a weekly bounty at all on my 3rd guy - just the regular bounties and maybe a win or two.

But man, did my rewards stink: 1) Tormod's Bellows. Yeah, that should be removed from the loot table after the stock roll we had last time. I bought one for each character and certainly didn't need another. I used it to make my 334 Sleeper Stimulant 335. Whoo-hoo... 2) Class item. Meh... I have lots of 335 class items but I guess I have a couple more I could level up. If only there was a way to get armor materials!

I'll get the last one to rank 5 today but I'm not expecting much. I actually need some more 335 ghosts so I can have a PvE and PvP 335 ghost on each guy.

I am now 1 for 24 on Taken gear from the 3 weekly free sterling treasure boxes. Also have not got a decent usable reward from the CoE packages in weeks. This week I got the stupid fusion rifle with the worst perks possible at 334.

Also got crap from the 2 Sterling Treasures I opened last night. I just need that class item - there is a class item, right? It would suck if I was wasting these packages on my Titan waiting for that if there wasn't one ;).
 
Finally got that damn Taken Chestpiece for my hunter to get that stupid ass emote.  

Highlight of the week so far has been raiding with both Phil Spencer and Mike Ybarra though.   :D  Mike even followed me on Twitter  :hot:

EDIT:  Also lately my pursuit has been to get a full shader and emblem collection from in game stuff.  Only missing one of each.  Gotta keep grinding strikes to get Mostly Cloudy, which ironically was my first shader on PS4.  And that No Puppet, I keeps eluding me.

Oh yeah and my LDR and Longbow pursuit.  Got an LDR with an absolute shit roll and can't get a Longbow to drop period :bomb: :bomb: :bomb: meanwhile my friend who doesn't snipe at all has gotten 3 or 4..... :wall:

I have been getting the worst drops lately until I did the Oryx challenge this week. I got a total of 11 drops, two exotics, scout rifle, auto rifle, hand cannon, two helmets, two artifacts, machine gun, sniper all dropped at the end plus I got two exotic engram from 3oC from the shade.

A couple of my friends (they are like top of the leaderboards in achievements) are friends with both of them. They both enjoy Destiny and needed help leveling up so my buddy invited me along.

Way cool guys, we just play it cool in chat. They are really chill and just enjoy gaming like all of us do. I suspect I'll be helping them do a few more raids in the near future too. :D

If we ever need someone to raid, it is usually late at night, and I see one of you on I'll shoot an invite. Just don't interrogate the guys, my buddy's friend did that and it was quite annoying. :lol:

I know Phil loves the game. It would be nice if he could push some Xbox exclusives but maybe that already signed contract takes it out of his control.

Crickets in here. Very interesting. I watched the trailer which basically gave me no info other than what I already knew (a new raid, a new strike, new gear, blah blah blah, but no actual details).

I looked at all the major gaming sites and found nothing other than dead links to the live stream (which I didn't watch) and the trailer. Is there nowhere with a write-up of the new stuff? I also apparently missed the free Fallout 4. Damn it all to hell.

I am very much looking forward to Rise of Iron, and am still having a blast with the April update. Challenge of Elders has really changed the game for me. For those of us without regular raid groups, getting a couple of people together for CoE is much, much easier.
Plus, its FUN!!! I love changing it up every week based on the modifiers. Using weapon/subclass combinations I wouldn't normally use.
 
Easiest Lighthouse run last night.  No mercy used and closest game was 5-4 in our 2nd game.  Other than that, it was a cake walk.  I seriously do think the best time to play with the least amount of sweaty ass games is Friday night.

I looked at my inventory and.... Yeah I somehow with spending them on 3 of coin and Synthesis, still have 1100 Strange Coins.  

I think I am going to start with my prep work for the next expansion now.  I'm going to start keeping extra materials in the vault, as well as Exotic Engrams (minus Helmets because I still don't have eternal warrior for some reason and I really don't want to buy that off the wall :lol: )

That gun required zero skill to use.  Decent range, 66 in the clip and with the right perk roll, hardly any kick.  

Warlocks stupid firebolts are getting a huge nerf too.  Little sad about Tripmines being unable to stick people.  I thought that actually takes skill to do unlike the other fusion type grenades.

Shadestep needed a nerf.  Same with Blink and Twilight Garrison.  The evasion was getting too crazy.

 
Challenge of Elders sucks this week.
Melee week is bad enough, but combined with that Taken Fallen boss that surpresses your abilites, and then that damn Cabal that channels the elements from the flayers, and trying to punch those phalanx
....And then add Trickle on top of that, as well as losing points faster when Variks becomes impantient.

Sucks.

I was planning to take this week off than I found out that the Nightfall is Omnigul with solar burn. I guess I need to hop on and try and get a Grasp of Makok finally.

It is absolutely awful. You don't get your super back, you get the damn boss that takes your super away, the Psion boss is up as well. Normally my friends and I get it done in 2 runs (30K and the 90K). This week we did 30K and then did "speed runs" since we didn't want to deal with the BS.

Time is better spent farming Grasp of Malok in the nightfall. I've gotten 2 godly PvE rolls. and missed the god roll PvP one on 3. :bomb:

Ideal PvP Roll: Counter Balance, Braced Frame, Feeding Frenzy.

Ideal PvE Roll: Counter Balance, Braced Frame, and a perk like Outlaw, Feeding Frenzy, or Spray and Play. Spray with Pulse Rifle Re-load arms are amazing.

I farmed for like 3 hours last night and got about 12 Omingul Bonds and about 15 Grasps.

Only missing the Crucible one.  Such a long, arduous questline.  I know they simplified it from what it used to be...but still....

 
Started the Crucible Questline yesterday. Just need that, Hard Mode Oryx and two more fragments.
I actually may have a shot at it this year.
 
Long time PS4 Destiny player looking for some friends on the X1. So far I have a Warlock and a Hunter to 40 but pretty low on light for each. I remember how real the grind is starting this game from scratch. (Especially with no friends.) GT is ArJay2k8

 
I'm nearly positive I completed "Return to the Reef"....any way to verify?  Like on the app or Bungie's website or in game?  I'm working on the Crucible one now.  So far it's going smooth.  6 kills per match with a hand cannon will be fun, though [read: sarcasm].  :twoguns:

Last Word or Thorn. Or if you have First Curse. All god tier HCs. Wouldn't recommend Hawkmoon, they nerfed that a tad. :(

IIRC, don't you get an Emblem for Return To The Reef? Or was that finishing 41 POE? I can't remember.

Speaking of POE.... Ran through a Challenge with Phil Spencer and Tim Stuart from Xbox. :D

I hope it doesn't discourage them from wanting to play it again.

My normal CoE partner and I two manned it last night, and only missed the 30,000 on the first run. I guess the only way it could have been worse is if the Cabal room was the last round instead of the second.
And then, did some farming for a Grasp, which I didn't really need, but just wanted to get in on the action.

ArJay, I will look out for you next time I'm on.

I started using Last Word last night to get the feel of HC's again. I haven't used them in a while. Thanks for the tip. I was only a few steps into this quest last night and after a couple hours I'm well into it. It won't be so bad.

This weeks CoE is stupid with the combo of bosses and modifiers. We got it done but this week's isn't fun. I'm not even going to bother doing it on my other characters. I think they had fun though so that is what really matters.

That quest before they made it easier was a gigantic pain in the ass to finish. You used to lose points for losses. It was maddening at times. I've been doing lots of research and reading every week regarding crucible and gun rolls so if any of you have questions post them here and I will glady try and help. I will also try and post what I recommend from the Gunsmith packages each week as well :D

Actually, I'll take you up on that. :bow:

I've been so stuck on scout and pulse rifles, I haven't used AR's in a long time either. Any suggestions for a good one to use in the Crucible? Right now I'm using the one from New Monarchy because I had it laying around. It's all right, but I need something that packs more of a punch or is more stable.

 
What is this Crucible quest line everyone is talking about? I don't remember but I think I did everything. Is it just the one to unlock the weekly crucible bounties?

I just checked the app and it only shows the Year 1 Moments of Triumph progress.

I got back last night after being gone for a week. I got that last Taken item (Titan mark) on my first sterling treasure of the week. So I'm now the proud owner of the Taken emote. I'll try to get the rest of the pieces on my Warlock now. I just need to do the weekly crucible for this week.

Yup, thats it. Its one of the year two moments of triumph. Vendetta posted them the other day.


Chubby if you're looking for an auto rifle suggestion, I have been loving Soulstealers Claw. Shoots super fast and has a huge magazine (66 rounds) which is great because I tend to miss alot. I've also done well with Hakon's Hatchet, Paleocontact, and even Zhalo.
 
Made it to the final step today...Crucible Master-earn 20 points, so I'll just wait for Iron Banner on Tuesday.
That actually wasn't too bad, I thought I'd get stuck on Hand Cannons, but I didn't have a problem at all.
 
...and that bug is infesting the Nightfall now.
Sat down to farm one last time because IB was cancelled and nothing but an error message.

Edit-Nightfall came back online around 11:30eastern. Farmed with a couple guys for about three hours and got four more Grasps, the best was Counterbalance/Perfect Balance/Feeding Frenzy. We all got more Warlock Bonds than we could count.
Don't even use pulse rifles, I was just having fun farming.....takes you back to the days of the loot cave.
I have plenty of infusion fuel now for primaries and class items, which is great since we aren't getting IB.

Challenge of Elders looks like it will be awesome this week.

Iron Banner has been shit for me this week. Need heavy weapons to infuse--getting a ton of class items. Rank 5 package was gauntlets, which, after class items, is next item I need the least.
Not even sure I'm going to rank up my other characters. I need to try to get a Golgoroth challenge in before reset. Thats more important.
Thats one of the last couple of fragments that I need for 50.
 
That's funny.  I needed the class item at 335 and kept getting machine guns.  My haul so far has been a 320 ghost, 2 335 scouts, 4 MG's at 334 and 335, two helmets at 335 and one titan mark at 335.  All I need are 335 boots and I'm at 335 overall.  So, I hit rank 5 and go to Saladin to collect my reward.....and boots drop!  at 334.  Doh!  :wall:

Back to the raid.  Here I come Golgoroth.

Haven't played in two weeks and really don't miss it at all. I'm well over 1250+ hours and I might finally be done with it. Titanfall 2 can't come fast enough.
 
Very productive day!
Got a group together and did the Golgoroth challenge for the fragment-which was one of three I had left to get.
Then was able to get the last two, including that damn scent of the worm chest, so I now have 50/50.
The raid fusion dropped for me, which I hadn't gotten yet.
Then ranked up my last character in IB in about an hours playtime.
Also, helped someone finish that Imprecation quest in Free for All.
And finally, messed around with Int/Dis/Str and have all three of my characters at Tier 5 for Int and Dis. Almost Tier 12....I'll call it Tier 11.5

Holy crap - didn't even realize there was an Iron Banner this week. I got on Monday at reset and did my 3 Sterling Treasures and IB wasn't active at that point (my pet peeve - wish they'd start the damn thing at reset instead of the middle of the next day). I didn't know about it till right now, 1 hour before the next weekly reset, when I read this thread ;). I have some completed bounties I could probably turn in for a quick rank up but I'll probably just wait till next time.

Sorry if this is a repeat question.  Has anyone else lost the ability to play the game on Xbox One?  I bought the game digitally, have two level 40s and can't play the game anymore.  It says I am on the trial mode and have maxed out my trial level.

 
I played enough last night to get my three free sterling treasures and I went 3 for 3 with the last three pieces of taken gear I needed. I made the mistake of burning some 335 gear into it since I will probably never wear it again. I got the free emote than logged off and went back to playing Uncharted 4.
