SeasonalCAG GoW4 Screenshot (since Steam Overlay doesn't work):

Not a bad looking game for a console game, they actually gave PC players some good detail and settings. Also KB/M is the way this game is meant to be played makes it great mapping the reload and chainsaw to my mouse. Guess I didn't learn my lesson on DOOM and started the game on Insane difficulty so probably won't finish until next year.
Yeah, the PC port is Phenomenal... They even have push to talk enabled by default.

I didn't play it much yesterday and I certainly wasn't respectful of the shotgunners as I repeatedly got downed on Normal trying to run around and only use the chainsaw. *Sigh* so out of practice.

so basically you brought a chainsaw to a gun fight and got mowed down..

You're better off buying ten GMG 3-pack mystery bundles instead. Just $12.90 for 30 games! Here's an example of what somebody got in one of their 3-game bundles:

So Microsoft's refund process is painful, or maybe I was just unlucky as my orders weren't showing up at first, so I had to call... Ugh.

Anyhow, after waiting over an hour for a 348 MB patch to download and install for Gears 4 I just said fuck it and refunded it.

Maybe it just caught me on a bad day cause I never refund anything but that just annoyed me to no end.

The MS store is really glitchy with the DLs. My Forza will not update the first time, even a 3MB update just forever fails. So each time I have to go into to the Windows directory, find some folder, delete it, restart the computer, and then it will DL.

Annoying. Yours might have been going through a similar issue.

Yeah, I nearly deleted that folder but didn't want to go through that install again if that wasn't the issue.

(It did finally finish installing while I was looking into the refund and it did boot up... I was just too far annoyed to care after that. I'll wait to see what more updates preformance wise FH3 gets before venturing into the Windows Store again.)

Note: FH3 patched for me without issue as had Killer Instinct and other stuff.

Hopefully we see a decent discount on the digital GoW4 around BF. I want it on PC but paying $60 for it simply isn't happening. WRU target $15 glitch!

Thanks I had grabbed this one.
Oh wow

Really tempted by the Sunless Sea sale, can get it down to $5.80 on Humble, but bit worried of a bundle (especially monthly) appearance soon.

In other Humble sale news, they have CK 2's Horse Lords collection dlc for $6 something. Only that dlc too, for some reason.

Steam and Humble also have EU IV and dlc on sale, thankfully I own all the decent ones afaik, so money saved there.

Also played Train Valley last night, and got pretty heavily into it. Kinda knew what to expect having seen a video review before. It's a puzzle game of setting up train tracks, dealing with switches, etc. Thankfully has a pause because more then a few times I'd lose track of going ons and almost send a train to the wrong place (etc).

Anyways if you like puzzle games or find laying track to be the best part of Railroad Tycoon, it's worth giving the game a go.

It probably won't be in a monthly because it has been bundled already. I do kinda expect to see it rebundled now that the DLC has dropped though. You might try some trade forums. It was top tier @ BTA + $3 along with Else Heart.Break IIRC so it may be hard to find or as expensive as buying it from Humble.

Bought/ordered a SSD (finally!!!) from Frys last week; arrived today.

240 GB Trion OCZ 150 was $50 w/ free shipping last week.

Got it installed + formatted already. Ready to throw a game or two or 3 onto it to kill some load times.

GTA5, you're up first.

First thing you should do is update your firmware, OCZ's have notoriously bad firmware and controllers (i had one die on me within 30min of using it, but you can read the newegg reviews out there). So I would do that first to hopefully stave off any impending doom from massive installs

Thanks for the advice. All downloaded. :)

Not sure what your load times were in GTA5, but mine are about 1:20 on a ssd. Since the game only has the one initial load at startup, it might not be worth sucking up 70ish GB.

Is this your first ever? Forget games, you're gonna be blown away by boot times, browsing folders with tons of files, etc.

+1

I shifted my gtaV install once to my SSD and saw almost no difference. I guess more of the load time was attributed to networking/server stuff than actually loading assets. It does help with map-based things like shooters (bf/cod/r6/etc) since those are going to load alot of the map ahead of time. I dont run my games on ssd but have used a 64gb ssd as a cache for my game drive in the past and there is a noticeable difference at least for bf4 once a map was cached (since at that point your running at like 99% the speed of an ssd)

Win10 and my new build dashed hopes of using intel rapidstore again though, doesnt seem to play nicely anymore

Yup GTAV is the biggest optimized pile of shit ass game I have had the misfortune of downloading multiple times.

1m29s total on SSD from initial boot.

1m58s total on regular 7200rpm HDD.

That's been free before (the game, not the sticky stars), but I missed it. Congrats on the weird toy though.

Oh, and for the people buying Sunless Sea.. that and all current/future DLC have been free before (2 months ago I think).

When was it free? :/ (I wondered why Blade had it)

Y I NO WEN?!?!

Doesn't matter tho, I missed it.  Plus now I have a sticky ball thing I can smack my cat with.

According to the Steam app I have the Sunless Sea DLC. Was it given out for free to owners? I'm about 100% sure I never did anything to get the dlc any other way.

Edit: I decided to only be mildly lazy and do a tiny bit of research. Apparently, early access owners of the game got the dlc for free. Praise be the Panda!
