Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.

Why can’t MS just give us a 20% coupon like Sony is doing? Would help alleviate the pain a bit.
There still aren't carts or anywhere to input promotional codes, right? There's a lot to change before thinking about that. Microsoft seems to prefer the bad XBL Rewards promotion set-up instead.

Not much jumping out at me, maybe Mortal Kombat XL or Pillars of Eternity. I've got credit to burn so I was hoping for some different stuff than the usual. I can't believe Walking Dead season 3 is still as high as it is.

It wouldn't feel like Monday if my hopes don't get shattered.
Sometimes when your hopes have all been shattered
And there's nowhere to turn
You wonder how you keep going (going)
Think of all the things that really mattered
And the chances you've earned
The fire in your heart is growing (growing)
You can fly, if you try, leaving the past behind
Heaven only knows what you might find

Dare, dare to believe you can survive

Wow, I sold my physical copy of Rare Replay last year right before the summer sale thinking "Well it goes on sale all the time, I'll just buy it digitally when it does!"

It hasn't gone on sale once. This sale is literally just a repeat of the last four months of sales. Igh.
Hope you got the Snake Rattle N' Roll achievements before you did that...

One of these days they'll let us use MS credit on 360 titles. That's the only way I'll pick up anymore of those.

As for this sale so far I'm looking at Battle Chasers, Elex, and maybe Wildlands since its been a while since I've played a Tom Clancy game and this one has X support. Gonna see if there is a slate of normal weekly deals before I pull the trigger on any of these.

lol just clownin' with ya
I'm trying to think what the gaming equivalent of "enjoy the city" is.

Less than 3 minutes a day of clicking random Bing links and searches along with random bonus point e-mails to get $10-$15 on a normal basis and not counting occasional mark down points or glitches seems well worth it.
I hear that. In under a year, I have added 2 free years of xbox live and $15 in xbox credit for under about 3 minutes a day. Which the free xbox live= how many free Xbox ones games and multiple free Xbox 360 games that you get to keep forever. but the deals this week are garbage and have been for a few weeks.

You can use MS Credit on 360 titles. The catch(?) is that you have to buy the titles via the 360 console. That's coming from my personal experience when buying 360 titles recently. Anyone here can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

The nice thing with bing is you can get about $150+ worth of stuff a year free if you do everything and only use points when things are on sale.

Best deal ever on bing was the Live 12 month for 22K points.

The bad thing is microsoft xbox sales still suck.

Playstation store  prices are normally lower  all the time

Dead RIsing Triple pack

PS4 lowest price 17.84

Xbox 1 lowest price 23.80

Catch the PS4 version with a 20% coupon it would be 14.27 a 9.52 savings over the xbox.

That's almost a months worth of bing just to break even.

Like right now Little Nightmares Complete Edition is $11.99 on PS4 vs 15.00 on xbox. If I used my 20% off coupon on this I could to get it down to 9.59.  Again almost half a month of bing just to break even with the PS4 price.

Yup, you are 100% correct. My 360 has long been passed down to a family member out of state. My gripe is that It's 2018 and there's still no way to buy 360 games on the marketplace website or on a Xbox One console. Only really want to get the games that seem to be trapped there like blue dragon.

Contemplating Virginia, Snake Pass or Ruiner but will try my hardest to fight tempation.

I'm thinking about trading in my original xbox one and some games for $200-$250 in credit at gamestop to put towards an X1X and using my S as the secondary. Does anyone use an X on non 4k TV and think it's a significant difference? I'd probably not get a new TV for a while. May trade in just the games and get xbox credit and buy those three games on sale though.

As someone who's only owned an Xbox One for 3 months, this sale speaks to me. I narrowed my list down to the following:

Kona

Necropolis

Nightmare Boy

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle

This War of Mine: The Little Ones

Vostok Inc.

Virginia

Zenith

Ruiner

Snake Pass

Anoxemia

Battleborn

Castles

Ginger: Beyond the Crystal

Are there any demos/trials for any of those games?

And as someone who owns the original Gears of War, what is the deal with "Day One" and "Ultimate Edition Deluxe Version"??

Thanks, as always, for feedback and recommendations.

Yes the xbox x is better for pretty much every game at 1080p. Most xbox x enhanced games have a 1080p graphic mode. Plus you can take advantage of the xbox x for using 360 enhanced titles.

I agree. It's beyond ridiculous not being able to buy 360 titles outside of using the console itself in 2018. Not everybody still has their old 360 for one reason or another. I kept mine because I didn't want to use for trade fodder towards an XB1 and still use it for playing games. Glad I did because I wouldn't be to buy 360 titles digital if I had gotten rid of it.

Don't buy Power Rangers... it's been on pretty much all of the Worst of 2017 game lists.

Cannot recommend Just Cause 3 XL enough! Bought it a couple weeks ago. Stick with it till you unlock that powered wing suit. The game turns into iron man attacks.

Wait, you can't buy Xbox360/Arcade games digitally on Xbox One? Why do they even give you the option to pay for them then? I wanted to buy Guardian Heroes. Thanks in advance.

Hmm tempting to check out assassin's creed origin gold edition if I can get something decent for my disc copy of the regular game. Might do the same for forza 7 as well

You CAN buy them on One, but only if you have credit/debit card or a PayPal account on file. You will not be able to use any credit you may have on your xbox account. This has been the case since August 2015.

You can, just not with xbox credit.

And to add to what's been said by everyone, it also looks like you can only buy the 360/Arcade games that are backwards compatible from the Xbox One. It pulled up Spec Ops: The Line with no trouble, when I searched for Enslaved OttW it didn't bring it up. Again, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Cheapest that Bully has been since going BC. I still don't know if I'd ever play it again.

Accurate. Non-BC games don't show up on the X1 store.

Does Sony give you money for browsing the internet?
Actually I get Sony Rewards points for scanning movie tickets. So I use moviepass to buy the ticket, walk out, scan the ticket, get 200 points, repeat again for same movie. 400 points per movie = $4 in my playstation wallet. Offsets movie pass or reduces cost of ps4 games depending on how you look at it.

I've done the same.

On another note, am I the only Gannett in existence to never have touched a GTA game?

Might be in for some 360 items thatc I'd convert from physical to digital. Might be in for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, but probably not.

For what it's worth, if anyone needs someone with a 360 to buy games through your account so you can use your credit, I'd be happy to help you out. I've been here longer than I care to admit and have done it for others in the past so I'm good for it. You just change your password, give me the info, and then change it back afterwards. I know it sounds stupid but I can't gain anything whatsoever from someone else's account and just want to help others.

Having said that, I don't expect anyone to take me up on it lol

Actually, A Walk in the Dark doesn’t look too bad for $3.50. I may have something to buy! Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!

In other news, I think I’m going to get Elex....at GameStop. Have the stupid Elite Plus due to it working out with a trade deal. So $22.50 - $5 coupon = $17.50. And if I hate it, use the 7-day “rental” period to get something else. Don’t feel like taking a chance at $30.

I've done the same.

On another note, am I the only Gannett in existence to never have touched a GTA game?

Might be in for some 360 items thatc I'd convert from physical to digital. Might be in for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, but probably not.
No, you're not the only one to never have touched a GTA game. I've never played the GTA series or any games/series that are similar (i.e. Mafia, Sleeping Dogs, Far Cry). I just don't have it in me to play those types of games no matter how good/great they are.

I played Metro 2033 on the pc a long time ago and never beat it. Never played the second game. I'm thinking $7.50 for the two games is worth it.

Store Parser has FH3 Expansion Pass, Agatha Christie, Rocket League DLC, For Honor credits.

I have some GTAs backlogged (the 3 / Vice City / San Andreas triple pack on OG Xbox, GTA4 complete on 360), but have never played any of them.

The part of me that wants good games is tempted to finally get The Witcher III. I know I'll never finish it, and maybe never play it.

However, I am very tempted to get Cars 3: DtW because my wife and I like racing games and Cars. I feel like $10 is a better price point, but I know it's probably never getting there digitally.

They do work for that purpose, but why would anyone hand one of these over to a stranger? They’re still registered to someone with personal info if they’ve been set up to use online...Also, I don’t support virtual panhandling. Hey man, you got any spare change? Oh, not for me, man, I’m just askin’ for a friend....
Actually, smartass, someone was already kind enough to give me one and pan handling is asking for money. If you took a second extra to actually read you’d see I specifically asked for an empty gift card. Also, I actually was asking for a friend but feel free to jump to conclusions.

I'm in for Cities:Skylines. I have the PC version but there is something in my brain that won't let me sit on the computer for more than an hour or so at a time - which is not something that surfaces while on the big screen.

Great sale content wise, but nothing jumps out at me as an amazing price.  In fact for the most part, a lot of these games are either staying put in their pricing (why is Quantum Break still $20?) or not as low as they should be yet (Resident Evil 7 should be $15 by now with the $50 gold edition out).

Anybody have any recommendations for games $10 or under?  Been thinking about Little Nightmares...

If you like "Walking Simulators" or David Lynch/Twin Peaks give Virginia a shot. It's only 2 hours long but for 4 bucks it's worthwhile. Quite the experience. Also if you're an achievement person it's an easy 3-4 hour completion.

Weird so many never played the GTA games story part. I'm a Compton's Most Wanted fan so having MC Eiht in San Andreas was pretty great but for actually do the missions I'd go 5, San Andreas, then IV. Vice City is always highly rated and maybe has the best radio stations and a few moments with a Sean Penn Carlito's Way guy but not best story.

Having said that, I don't expect anyone to take me up on it lol
thanks again for helping me buy skate 3 a few weeks ago ;)

it is worth noting that the person being helped will need to have access to a web browser while you log in to their account. as a security measure, MS requires authentication when a profile is being accessed at another physical location. they did not prompt me to do this, i had to dig into my account but it wasn't much of an inconvenience.
