Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Yeah I was mostly being sarcastic at a judgment on what "Haxors" might be able to do with it coming in 6 hours after it was announced. Totally agree on it's a bummer that they didn't go with dual shock because a lot of the games that I'd be tempted by used them, like Bushido Blade, Colony Wars, Gran Turismo. They were a real game changer at the time. I think I even bought dual analog versions of the Resident Evil games. That said they could still pull some pretty good games out of the other 15 depending on what partnerships they have. Obviously they are working with Namco and Square/Enix... if they can get something going with Konami and Capcom.
Safe to assume SOTN will be on there, it was pretty genre- and platform-defining. Wouldn't be surprised to see SF Alpha 2 either, it would play great with those controllers and was a pretty big deal at the time. Capcom has been supporting all these things, even licensing Mega Man 2 to an off-brand emulator console.

I am surprised Sony is going with the original design of the playstation controllers instead of the more iconic dual shock.  Figure they dont want to pay to include rumble but they could at least keep the sticks.  100 dollars seems steep for not knowing the full list of games.

I'm going to guess Crash Bandicoot, PaRappa the Rappa, Street Fighter Alpha 2 (or 3), Crash Team Racing,Twisted Metal 2, Resident Evil 2, Spyro, Castlevania SotN, Gran Turismo, Tomba, and my slightly out there guess of Final Fantasy Tactics and Grand Theft Auto. Oh and filled with now generic tunes, Tony Hawk Pro Skater.

I’m gonna assume six months later, they’ll have “heard the fans” and release the DS version to buy extra.

Also who want's a wired controller? Even with the extension i dont think it would reach to my couch from my entertainment center. This could be nice to take to a hotel with you i guess.

To anyone that is being introduced to the BC program via this tweet (or other similarly worded announcements), this might be a little confusing to some because you can only play them for free if you already own them digitally or disc-ally.

EDIT - reading the comments only confirms that they worded the tweet wrong...

I can't imagine playing half those games with just a d pad and no analog stick.

Update on the mess that is the Microsoft Rewards Punchcard:  Wild Kingdom shows 3 out of 4 checkmarks, but is "complete" and Moon Gate has opened up.  Apparently, all of my previous Bing searches have counted towards the Moon Gate goal, but I have to Log In to Xbox all over starting at 0.  Contacted MS Support yesterday about the missing check for the Xbox app part of Wild Kingdom, got the run around.  Don't know if they opened up Moon Gate for me, or if it just decided to itself.  Either way, I got my 500 points from WK and can move forward.  Hoping things go smoothly from here, but doubts are high.

Edit: One of the Moon Gate tasks is to complete 3 daily sets in a row.  I clicked on the "Check it Out" button, and had the task complete itself, as I already had the streak.  Make sure to hit the button so you don't wait around.

Edit 2: Just did the streak task on my wife's account.  She does not have a streak going, but I clicked the "Check it Out" button just for shiggles, and low and behold, it gave her the check, so you may not even need a streak going.

As somebody that hasn't upgraded from 360 yet, I thought that every BC game was free on Xbox One when I saw this... very misleading. I can already play every game I own for free...

"Red Dead Online is planned for launch in November 2018, initially as a public beta, with more news to come soon."

That phrase "for free" is a generation-long jab at Sony for the service they offer that allows you to play older generation games on PS4 (forget its name at this point). Sony has a subscription-based program that lets you stream these games for a monthly cost, even if you already own the game.

PS Now. I hate that it's a subscription based streaming(?) service. I would like to just borrow my brother's PS3 games and play them on PS4 instead of having to pay for a subscription. That's really gotta suck for those people who probably traded their PS3 toward a PS4 at release thinking they could still play those games.

Who are these people? It was pretty clear to me that PS Now was sort of like Netflix (streaming) for games and not PS3 compatibility for the PS4. Do people think the XBox BC program is giving them the games for free?

Oh and PS Now sucks. Streaming games isn't anything I am interested in. I was in the beta and thought it was horrible. I had decent Internet at the time and it still wasn't a great experience.

Mine both say “complete” too even though still I’m at 3/4 on the first one and 2/4 on moongate(won’t count my bing searches)but I haven’t got any points.

On a side note when did the store layout go back to the old one?

Did anyone else not have their MCC update on its own? I noticed it still wasn't in the X1X Enhanced menu and no update had happened recently or was currently available. It loaded up just fine without a disc thanks to Game Pass but still had the old menus. Just had to delete and download it again. :whistle2:k

The pre-order thread on CAG is 15 pages and counting, so clearly it has a market. Honestly surprised, but then again, the nostalgia factor isn't nearly as high for me as it is for the (S)NES Minis.

That, and PS1 games are widely available on PSN, across multiple devices, whereas Nintendo has fudged their VC system multiple times. I know unofficial emulation is also an option, but the SNES Mini sure does feel great with the reproduced controllers. I also like them as an official product in terms of preservation - it's not as good as playing on an original console, but it's really close.

I was out of town for the last several days and my Gold expired on me.  Is anyone aware of any deal similar to $1/1 month or is that all dried up now?

Looks like a WB publisher sale lined up for next week.

Also, Super Bomberman R had 1 day left on Monday.  It's now on sale for $20 (50% off), but it also says "With Gold, play this game, or buy it to own."  Not sure if there's a free Gold play period going.  GwG titles you don't own outright say "With Xbox Live Gold, play this game, or buy it to own."  Couldn't find any articles about it, but the game had an update that added some extra bombers, including platform specific ones, and stages.

Would love to see a free play weekend on Bomberman, been wanting to check that out.

Also hoping for a good discount on JYDGE for no particular reason lol.

This Rewards quest is some major league BS. I still don’t have credit for the rewards app part, and the Xbox login counter isn’t working. It said I was at 3 yesterday (wrong for sure) and a day later it’s still on 3 despite me logging in through the rewards page on my phone and desktop, signing in on the Xbox itself, and signing following the link in the rewards app.

I finally sent an email to MS Rewards support today about the counter being stuck on 6 days for me. The counter had been added 2 days ago and it's still stuck. I've been logging on via desktop, mobile, and my XB1 since the Wild Kingdom quest started on the 7th. I've already checked off the other 3 challenges and should be done by now.

I'm not exactly holding out hope that support is going to be much help. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong and fix it or let me know what to do about it.

Looks like this Rewards Quest everyone is talking about is US only, wish Australia got this or something similar.

EB Games in Australia has been doing a deal for the Xbox One X if you trade Xbox S, so that is what I did. Had some gift cards for there so that made it even better. The game that came with it is NBA 2K19 as a digital code. What are the thoughts on this?

I dont know if it is just me but are the voice controls with Kinect on the Xbox X better than Xbox S? Was watching WWE Network and they seemed to work better.

Also, I recently upgraded my Internet plan to 100mbps. I downloaded a few games and the download speed was all over the place. For the first 2 games I saw the speed was around 10mbps and less. The third got to around 70mbps and stayed around there for the whole download. The forth was mostly around 10mbps and went down below that, went to 20mbps, hit 70mbps for a second then went back to around 10mbps.

Is there some setting I can change to fix this, or is this normal? A speed test in the network settings had 97mbps.

Based on the issues and time people seem to be having with that Rewards Quest, it may be better that they don’t have it in Australia. I mean is it really worth all the effort?

Probably not, just a shame we dont get a different kind of reward quest.

Personally I'm going to skip the PS Classic unless I find one cheap down the line. The lack of analogue sticks is a clear attempt at cutting costs which limits what games they can actually put on it. I feel like they should have doubled the storage so they could do 30-40 games, include a decent amount of RPGs, and possibly have more than one game from some big series like Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, or Final Fantasy.

The fact that they only announced 5 of the games is a red flag for me, I wouldn't be surprised if these are all the heavy hitters they have, which out of the first 5 is really just FF VII and Tekken 3. The main issue with doing a PS Classic is sort of the same problem PlayStation All-Stars had, in the past Sony didn't own the majority of the franchises that their system is famous for. They can still announce games like Twisted Metal and Parappa, but to really do the library justice they need at least a Tomb Raider from Square-Enix, and to get Konami (Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania SOTN), and Capcom (Resident Evil 1 or 2).
