I bit on this deal and my package came squished. I wasn't planning on keeping the box, so I wasn't too upset.
Also, they said all the previous official controller iterations would be compatible with 4, but there may be some new game mechanics that you can't perform with them.
I was at my local gamestop and found one copy used. It was the same reprint that was pictured above, but I bit anyway....then got a copy of DDS 2 on ebay for $25 shipped.

Anyway, I used mine with a VGA adapter to display my ps2 in 640x480 (480p). It looked better on the monitor than what my video input card did to the composite signal, so I was happy. For whatever reason, a nice feature...
Yeah, I couldn't play ps1 games on my friend's 42" 1080i. Bottom line is, if you really are anal about this (like I am), think about getting a receiver that can upscale composite and s-video inputs. I know some of the nicer Harmon/Kardon receivers do this. I'm thinking about getting one for...
