Yes you do have to sign up for skype (I didn't have an acct. established either) but you can do it right from the touchpad, it takes 10 seconds, and it's free for the purpose of just accessing the dialer.

If you ordered from HP and your credit card doesn't show any charge/hold now, don't sweat it. It just means the normal 3-4 day hold has expired; totally normal. You won't be charged, or show a charge until it ships. Other forums seem to have a lot of chatter saying that at least the HP SMB reps...
