And there are many people who do homebrew gaming / hobby programming for the Dreamcast. The broadband adapter allows them to transfer programs faster than the serial connection. Also it allows them to do network programming.

I was kind of suprised to see how much just the broadband adapters were going for. The one in my auction I picked up off of ebay a couple years ago, brand new unopened, for about $75 if I remember correctly.
