I have had drives from maxtor, WD, ibm, and seagate. And have only had 1 seagate go out on me (after 6 years of usage). I prefer Maxtor and WD and get what ever one has the best deal.

Normally the head phone jack puts out some power (although not very much, as headphones do not require much), and a/v out (or your audio out) only sends signal requiring another device to amplify it to produce the sound. Now depending what speakers you have you may have an acceptable sound...

If they did not advertise the wii then it may not fall under bait and switch. Because it is there product and they can sell it however they want (even if it is wrong). But if they advertised or led you to reserve it under false pretenses (sp) then it falls under bait and switch.
