News on the Eva Box Set Delay.

"As many of you probably noticed, we have not yet been able to fill many of the orders for this box set from the recent 12 days of savings.

Just an update that because we sold so many, ADV actually ran out of the physical cartons that are used to assemble the set and had to produce more. We are expecting delivery of these sets sometime late the week of 1/24.

Sorry for the delay".

Actually, about $120 for 9 anime dvds isn't too bad at retail price. And you guys were right there was a box set that had all in one, but it's technically the same thing and according to the MSRP for that huge boxset, buying the three mini boxsets is actually cheaper.

I remember seeing the original box set at a site for about $200 actually, so it would be cheaper to get them seperate.

With the exception of NGE, the deals have been "meh" IMO. I'm wondering if the 12th day will be the only other great deal, while the other 10 days are just "filler" deals (ie. nothing special).
I got my order of NGE DVD perfect collection in the mail today. Thanks OP
impossible, they didnt even start shipping that until the 30th I just got a call from them.

Admiral Ackbar that probally is so i think you only posted it like 10 mins or so before i ordered. The only reason i posted my shipping info was because Nirvanaguy777 was trying to make me look like a liar.

im just sceptical is all

Sorry if I offended you, its was meant as more of me being shocked that you got it not calling you a liar, also kinda pissed I didnt get mine.

Nirvanaguy777 it is ok. It more caught me off gaurd then make me mad and then i got to thinking that i did not want alot of user thinking that i would lie about it. But anyway sorry for the misunderstanding.

I went and ordered His & Her circumstances (Kare Kano) for 39.99 that was a steal for that set. No info on my NGE set tho
Is devil lady any good, Im not a big anime horror fan.
No... no it really isn't.
Hey seta, how's Peacemaker
Forgive me for fielding a question directed at someone else, but I found Peacemaker Kurogane to range from sub-par to average in just about every department. Don't bother.

This is wicked sweet. I had some misgivings about getting the regular NGE DVDs given the following releases of the platinum editions, but I think I'm going to take the plunge. I was a pretty diehard fan back in the day, and I'd love to be able to watch the series through again. Props to OP.

This will have arrived at my house by mid-January, right? I don't want to have it shipped to my house if I'm back at school when it arrives.l

I heard it is actually pretty entertaining from a friend of mine. I have yet to see it though, I think ill gamble on this.

I don't know, that description seemed like the most cliche anime I've ever heard of... I'm getting tired of the same old.

Are the eva dvds edited in any fashion? Is there less blood or nudity than the original because I think everything in eva was necessary.

The EVA box set is sans editing. You'll get all of that eva goodness indeed. I grabbed one as a gift but I am sticking to the Plat. versions for myself. Then again Any EVA is good for me ^^

I dont really see the difference, why wait for the platinum and pay more when I can get the eva perfect for 40 which I did, perfect has the better japanese translation version since the dubbing is pretty bad.

Contains the entire EVA DVD set (1-8) in a stylish art box complete with a remastered DVD 1 and the fixed insert for DVD 2!

Remastered DVD 1 and insert for DVD 2, i thought it was just the regular 1 to 8 dvds what do they mean.

DVD 1 was remastered for the set. Also there are the director's cuts of disc 6 and 7 that were released prior to The Plat. versions as well. As far as disc 1's remastering I truly don't know what that entailed. The disc 7 and 8 director's cuts (Genesis Reborn and Resurrection) however has some extra scenes and previews of the eva movie (pics i think). As far as Plat. goes. I have the Whole Eva set(prior to diectors, remasters etc) and also have my own box set. and have sat down and watched Plat. Vols. 1 thru 3 and to me it blows away any prior versions I have seen. I get most Plats from a local Store for 14.99 and to me it's a great price. The video is incredible, much sharper, audio is outstanding, the whole production overall is great. To me that is what matters. I have watched enough eva not to worry about a few translations here and there. To me Plat. has the better package. Unless you have never watched EVA and are looking for a whole set at a great price.

Info on the Director's cuts:

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Collection 01 + Director`s Cut - Resurrection

The Directors' Cut is not just a remaster, but a revised and re-edited special edition produced under the careful supervision of creators Hideaki Anno and Gainax to include amazing new footage never before available outside of Japan. The first volume contains Evangelion episodes 21-23 in both the extended Directors’ Cut versions and the original broadcast versions, allowing fans to see the creative progression of this seminal title’s final moments.

In addition to the Directors’ Cut episodes, ADV has obtained special DVD extras that are sure to fuel the excitement for this highly anticipated release. Resurrection will include an exclusive 25-minute interview with Richard Taylor, co-founder and head of Effects and Creatures at Weta Workshop, the multiple Academy Award-winning (for The Lord of the Rings trilogy) special effects studio currently working on the Neon Genesis Evangelion live-action feature. Also included are numerous never-before-seen production images from the theatrical release.

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Collection 02 + Director`s Cut - Genesis Reborn

The Directors’ Cut is not just a remaster, but a revised and re-edited special edition produced under the careful supervision of creators Hideaki Anno and Gainax to include amazing new footage never before available outside of Japan. The second volume contains Evangelion episodes 24-26 in both the extended Directors’ Cut versions and the original broadcast versions, allowing fans to see the creative progression of this seminal title’s final moments
Remastered DVD 1 and insert for DVD 2, i thought it was just the regular 1 to 8 dvds what do they mean.
ADV originally used hard-sub text overlays (text that cannot be turned off, and therefore covering up the images) for signs and documents in the initial pressing of the DVD. This was later fixed by making the overlays soft-subbed, and that fixed version is what's included with the box set.

The first version of disc 2's cover insert had a spine that didn't match up with the other volumes.

Thanks for clearing that up everyone, Im a huge EVA fan, ive been dying to get this. As for platinum well I like the content more than audio or basically asthetics.
Today's deal:

Mezzo DVD 1 + Artbox - $14.99
Link
This is the first deal that I actually plan on picking up (going to wait until the 24th, though). I love Mezzo Forte; and on the strength of that love, I'll take the plunge (and not much of one at that, since it will only consist of three volumes). I highly recommend checking out Mezzo Forte if you don't mind some hentai in your anime, not to mention the superb Kite.

They have another hot one today IMO!

Samurai X OVA Collection for $25!

That's at least 15 dollars cheaper than DDD.com.

(To be honest I wish it was $20, but $25 is still great)

These two OVA's are the book ends to the Kensin TV Saga. The first details his time before the series starts. The second details his time after the series concludes.

Also, remember that the Samurai X Movie is on special through Wednesday for $6. That's $18 at DDD.

Samurai X is great! They also have the Movie for $6 in thier weekly specials. I just need to find another $40 worth of anime and i'll have free shipping.

Great I think I am going to pick up the samurai x box set. Damn this sale so far I have bought
Considering getting those two DVDs and the 6-dollar one... I guess I'll wait until the rest of the deals come in.
Remember that the $6 movie deal may expire after Wedneasday. Sometimes weekly specials are carried over two or three weeks. Sometimes not.

Thanks for the heads up. I bought the Rurouni Kenshin boxsets as a Christmas present for my stepsister, and now I can complete the collection with the Samurai X OVA and movie for her birthday. Also picked up Mezzo TV for myself, making shipping free. :D

I ordered the NGE set on 12/14 and just got the following email yesterday:
