News on the Eva Box Set Delay.

"As many of you probably noticed, we have not yet been able to fill many of the orders for this box set from the recent 12 days of savings.

Just an update that because we sold so many, ADV actually ran out of the physical cartons that are used to assemble the set and had to produce more. We are expecting delivery of these sets sometime late the week of 1/24.

Sorry for the delay".

Wait....the Kenshin Boxset, does it include the $6 movie? I remember seeing that movie and everyone's voices were not the same as the one on TV. I have all the episodes on DVD and this would be a great to my collection.
How is Chrono Crusade? Is it worth the $16?
Decent, but nothing spectacular. It pains me to say that, since a friend of mine does the voice of Chrno.

Chrono Crusade is a nice romp indeed. Dubs are nice, visuals are very nice to look at. Story wise it is worth a pick up, the extras are pretty cool too. Awesome music intro and credit wise. I have no complaints at all, and have the 1st 2 discs and will finish the set happily.
Kirin, yer friends with Greg Ayres? Cool! He has done some great work!
Yeah, Greg's a super-awesome guy, and a total anime fanboy. He was really excited when he got the role of Chrno, and I think he's doing a fantastic job with it. It's always nice to see voice actors who have a passion for what they do.

This may sound like a stupid question, but....

I've looked at Chrono Crusade in the store several times now. Other than the logo looking similar and the obvious name similarities, I don't see anything on the box that definitely ties it to the games - but it IS related, right??

No, it isn't.

The anime basically follows two exorcists in 1920's America named Chrono and Sister Rosette. The games and the anime just happen to both have Chrono in the title, which could understandly confuse somone. :)

Todays Deal is a hottie too.

Gasaraki Box set for $25

I bought this over a year ago when it was $35 with the special collectors box and it is well worth the price of twenty-five dollars. It's a good show even though I personally didn't like the ending.

I must be prescentient. I predicted we may see Devil Lady and Gasaraki. So far the most pleasant suprise has been Samurai X.

wanna give us a bit of info on Gasarki, go anime fishy go

Gasaraki is almost all plot and dialogue.

It's a great series, if you can get past the first few episodes. It took me a few years to build up the patience. I Borrowed from a friend and had to give it back, and finally i bitorrented all of them in one file, and sat thru them, and was pleasantly suprised.

Hmm no action hu, its not like all plot and dialogue in the sense of serial experiments lain is it cause I really hated lain, dunno why just hated it.

There is action, but it's few and far between dialogue and plot.

It falls into the drama category. It's one of the very few dramas in anime that isnt a love story.

Great deal even though I'm not particularly interested in Gasaraki.

I wonder if Rightstuf will go out with a bang tomorrow...

It's not all plot and dialog. There's plenty of action. But it's not like the rampaging angel in every episode of NGE.

It's different to average anime fans because it's the equivalent of a Hard Sci-Fi anime. Like reading hard sci-fi in books. This is further reinforced by it's direction.

The pace, the cinemetography, the cuts, are directly reflective of a live action asian soap opera. That's done on purpose to give it a sense of realism like it's live action. But for those who have never watched an asian soap opera and only watch anime, it feels different and slow.

A good example of this is that anime cuts are generally much more flowing. To keep a sense of flow, movement, and activity. Where often, at the end of a scene in Gasaraki or asian soap opera, the final shot of a scene is a silent still close-up of a characters face for a few seconds. To linger on the characters reaction, add tension, slow pacing, stress importance, force reflection, etc.

I wasn't planning on picking this up, but you've really sparked my interest. I've never really seen anything like what you've described, but I'm curious now.

his and her circumstances is up in the weekly specials again :) but it's just a bundle of the dvd's and not the lovely boxset..i know, i know...but i like the box

I dont blame you, if an anime comes in a boxset I set out to buy the box sets.

Yeah, I was a little disappointed when I got the whole Neo Ranga set for $40 but it didn't come with the box. The boxes look so nice and complete the collection. But hey, it was still a good deal.

Edit: For those of you who are thinking about getting the Samurai X OVA's, I just noticed that the Samurai X movie is still $6 in the weekly specials.

I know how ya feel, the box was a selling point for me as well ^^. I love me some art boxes, I even have a shelf for them as well.

Does anyone know when the next day's deal is posted? The day 12 deal isn't up yet and I'm wondering if it's worth it to stay up for a while or just check it in the morning. Thanks :)

It's usually not posted until late morning/afternoon, never seen it posted around midnight or early morning.
DNAngel is the 12th day, I enjoyed the manga but not the anime.
I am interested in this anime, but the general consensus is that the manga is better. Just curious as to why people say this? Thanks.

I'm looking at the NGE boxset, the Samurai X OVA collection, and Gasaraki. But I'm only going to buy two of those... Which one should I not buy?

I would go with NGE and Samurai X. You can find Gasaraki cheap later on.

Do a search for Gasaraki on Ebay and you can find five to ten listings where it won't cost you more than $40 and if you're patient you may pay around $30.

Ended up getting these:

1 Free advgnsampler ADV Special Offer - Graphic Novel Sam
1 $19.99 ddl100 Devil Lady Complete Collection DVD (H
1 $39.99 devbx1 Evangelion, Neon Genesis Perfect DVD

Ordered NGE and Samurai X. I almost ordered Gasaraki before when it was $35, so I don't think that'll be the last time I see it cheap there.

Neon Genesis Evangelion Perfect DVD Collection $39.99
Samurai X OVA Collection DVD $24.99
Total Amount: $64.98
Total savings on items on your order: $150.98

Thanks a lot Admiral!
How is His and Her Circumstances? Its only $36.99 for the whole series, no art box though.
From the few episodes I've seen, it's quite humorous and enjoyable. The artwork is particularly impressive to me. My biggest gripes were a LOT of recap at the beginning of every episode. I hear the ending is very lackluster and bad compared to the rest of the series, though.

Anyone else thinking NGE might not get to everyone? Someone here earlier said they ordered on the 14th and got the e-mail that it was backordered. I didn't think it would affect me much since that person had free shipping and I got 2day, even though I ordered on the 15th.

But then I got the e-mail.

I hope I get it...seems like I've been having trouble lately. RE:Dead Aim backordered from BB, and then a message from KBtoys says some packages might be damaged in shipping due to bad weather, and they wouldn't do anything if that happened? Bleh...

the animation is quite impressive and the humor is great. although at times it can get a bit sappy (which was one of the reason's it took me so long to dive into it). but overall, cool series!

I believe NGE will ship. If they are OOS. They will update order like below.

"1 dgs001 Gunsmith Cats: Bulletproof DVD (Hyb) 8.99 Cancelled by manufacturer or per your request"

The only time I've ever had something cancelled because their supplier was OOS.

Right stuf is very good at supplying orders. I'm actually suprised that some have been delivers. It's usual to expect a two to three week delay on their hot deals. Expect to receive it sometime after the New Year. They don't usually run deals unless they are able to fulfill orders.

The sale has been extended through Dec. 26, so if you're just now finding out about the sale you've still got a chance to look over everything there and get in on it.

Looks like you might be referring to my post... Good news - I got a follow-up email just yesterday indicating that they were going to ship in the next couple of days. If anything I guess RightStuf deserves props for over-communicating... Anyway, sorry to hear about the other bad luck you've had recently. Hopefully RightStuf will break the trend.

As long as they arrive by Jan. 17, I'll be happy. I should think they aren't backordered enough to not ship within nearly a month, though.
