Hmm... Slayers Seasons 4-5 on bluray sound intresting.
$30 per season is still overpriced for Slayers. The series is a guilty pleasure of mine, but it's not worth that.

I'll probably pick up Slayers Season 4 & 5 and Tenchi in Toyko. But I'll wait until the final deals are up to decide on anything

Is Slayers a good show? I'm tempted to pick the whole S1-5 up. $16/season seems like a pretty good deal to me. What do you guys think of it?

Can anyone tell me anything about the Vandread Ultimate Collection packaging? Thinking about picking it up, but I'm worried about the kind of packaging it has.

I loved the first 3 seasons. Very funny show imo. Might want to see if Funimation has a couple episodes streaming to get a good idea of it.

Keepcase packaging. The quality of the video may/should be of concern though.

I wouldn't call it "good", but it's frequently entertaining. The first season is a complete slog, season two has a good plot that eventually kicks in after a *ton* of filler, and season three is pretty solid throughout. Seasons four and five are basically season one all over again, story-wise, but much better overall.

It's not really fair to break it down as $16 per season, either. Seasons one through three are now being sold in a big collection that's frequently available for a sub-$30 price, and seasons four and five are actually half-seasons.

Anyways, the most fun part of the series is watching the characters interact with each other, once you get attached to them. This may actually take multiple viewings to achieve, considering that, largely, the characters are fairly shallow. Like I said, it *is* often entertaining, and when it's good, it's really good, but there's a heaping ton of filler involved, and some of it is really bad. Definitely try before you buy.

Well, I'm definitely going to have a free shipping order by the time this is through. Gosh but that Hellsing pocket watch looks nifty.

Slayers is a great show, and IMO the filler is some of the best parts, but its definitely not for everyone. Give it a try, and then decide. Most of the first 3 seasons are on funimation's video site. www.funimation.com/video

I'll have to check that out for sure before I invest in it. Thanks for the link.

I'll wait until around December 15 to make order and hopefully get shipping. So far Afro Samurai at that price seems like a good purchase,

Oooh, I think I'll pick up Soul Eater Part 4. And Eden of the East with that. I'll also be waiting to see all the deals before making an order. Hopefully I don't spend too much money here!
Keepcase packaging. The quality of the video may/should be of concern though.
Wow, thanks for the heads up about this. Definitely won't be picking up this set.

Woo, picking up Soul Eater 3 and 4 for sure. Already bought Tsubasa when Amazon had it on sale, though I'm not sure why. I liked CCS, but I'm not a Clamp fan otherwise.

Will probably wait to see what else is on sale before I buy, but will definitely buy Soul Eater 3 and 4 at some point, as long as there are any left.

Once I realized that free shipping was on $49+ not $50+, placed an order for Eden Of The East and Afro Samurai Complete Murder Sessions.

Definitely gettting Dead Leaves. Takes me back to the days when MTV's Liquid Televison use to air. Good stuff.

Soul Eater is tempting as I liked the first few episodes, but I heard the show falls apart near the end so I need to see more before I put money towards it.

Loved watching Tenchi Muyo years ago so I'm in for Tenchi in Tokyo.

awesome. Soul Eater is on sale. I love that show. One of my favorite animes for sure. I watched the whole thing on Netflix. Not sure I want to pay ~$70 to own it, so I think I'll pass there, but for anyone who hasn't seen it and is thinking about it, it's amazing.

You know, every year I check on this thread...I don't even watch anime, so I have no clue WHY. But it's become some kind of tradition.

FYI, the Black Friday / Cyber Monday Bargains (for now) are still ongoing for those who missed it.

Some prices haven't changed at all...

I've been waiting for the Kiddy Grade Duo Figure and The Chrono Holiday Edition to drop...but they have remained the same price for a while.

I was thinking the same on the pricing thing. Some of these prices seem to be little difference, if any, to their weekly specials.

Nothing much I want at the listed prices which is good. Still i know rightstuf is going to F us all over by doubling their sale items on last day.
Cheapest I have seen Case closed season sets, grabbed it.
Are they no longer doing Conan? Vol 5 has been out for ages, and no vol 6. Sucks is that I watched the fansubs up to around 100, bought vol 1-3 and 5 (non viridian, which is why I don't have 4), and now that's no more volumes. Do I have to go back to fansubs for this?

Correct. They may continue licensing the movies, but as of now, their production on the TV series has stopped after season five.

This makes me sad. :( A 100 episodes is pretty good in comparison to other lengthy series that have gotten translated over on our side of the pond, but still, I love me some Conan.
Booo!!!! No one wants that holiday edition crap of evangelion.
What's bad about it? I'll eventually wanna get a copy of the show, but don't think it'll get much better than $35. If this is an inferior version, I guess I'll wait. :X

poop i was hoping for a good deal on dragon box 3-4 and fullmetal alchemist brotherhood vol 2 on blu-ray.

not a big anime fan but i did the dbz and FMA, is evangelion good?

DBZ and FMA are gateway animes. You'll soon turn to the darkside... lol.

Evangelion is very good. Def recommend it.

Oh and BOO at todays deals. Bunch of garbage...

Unfortunately, it has stackpack packaging, though it *does* at least offer all the extras from the single-disc releases which were previously stripped from the thinpak release.
How is El Cazador de la Bruja?http://www.rightstuf.com/i/fun09870,a=cheap-ass-gamer
Exceedingly mediocre, with a decent soundtrack.

Hey, now! Xam'd isn't garbage. I'm stoked to be able to pick up the second Blu-ray release for a relatively good price.

I have a couple 1-time use coupons if anyone wants them. Post here in this thread if you want it, and say which 1. The first person to ask for it, will get it.

1) $4.00 off any order of $60 or more. *GONE*
2) $5.00 off any Nozomi DVD Collection or Box Set. (Second thought, send me a pm if you want this coupon, because I don't think it will be as popular.)

Xam'd is a decent show, but $35 for 13 episodes? That's shitty pricing compared to what you can get Funi blu-rays when they go on sale. Some sets are more overpriced than others.

Oh this reminds me, do any of these damn companies keep a definitive list of stuff they will NOT be bringing to blu ray? There are tons of shows I want to get but I'm holding off for blu ray releases if just to have a smaller package sitting on my shelf.

Made my first order picking Eden of the East and El Cazador de la Bruja. Was waiting for a decent 2nd item to go with Eden of the East for free shipping. I'll probably wait until the end now before making any more purchases, there are a few things of potential interest.

Unless the brick has changed for reprints, it's not a stackpack.
