That was basically it. When I wrote that his wonderous discovery led to the genocide of the indigenous people, I was told it was unacceptable and would have to re-write my report. I refused. They called my mother in for a meeting and she backed me up. I ended up not having to re-write the report.
I feel kind of vindicated now, to be truthful.
I hope by "backed you up" you mean "she went

ing nuts on their ass". I dunno why, but I feel really strongly about that. I had to write a report about Eastern European/former Soviet Bloc countries when I was in school and had a similar experience. I interviewed my grandparents about Poland and (at the time) Czechoslovakia - where they lived, and fled to the US during the 40's then returned numerous times to visit our family that was still there.
The report was supposed to be on how things were so much better after the Soviets left due to freedom, liberty, etc. but my report was on how there was no infrastructure, no economy, and the countries were in the most abject poverty they've ever seen. I mean, you could literally buy a used car for a clean, new set of clothing or shoes because there were no stores and no manufacturing and no industry so there were no clothes/shoes to be had.
