Dark Souls is out already?
10/04. Time is flying. My GS is doing a midnight launch. I'm not going to argue... I'll be getting destroyed by the game by 12:20, hopefully. :bouncy::lol:

Very tempted to pick it up. I always wanted its predecessor, but it meant playing it on a PS3, so I never went for it.

I hear it's very...connected. Can I still play the game without an active internet connection?

Yeah, sure. There's no real internet anyway, if it's anything like Demon's Souls was. There's no voice chat, at all, and the normal online should be limited to leaving text messages people can leave on the ground. You can PvP people and such, but it's not really necessary at all. I'll let you know how Dark Souls is after I get some time in this week if you want.

I would buy Dark Souls if I wasn't 3/4 committed to getting BF3 when it comes out. I played the shit out of Demon's Souls. I also think my time may be better served with Skyrim.

I don't like CoD online very much. Luckily I got Blops as a gift and played the shit out of zombies to make it worth the purchase. I haven't touched the BF3 beta yet, but friends say it's fun when you aren't falling through the ground.
It's refreshing that the beta of BF3 is actually a beta instead of a glorified demo.
It is but it isn't.

I'm a bit worried all this shit won't be fixed this close to launch. I hear it's an old build, but who knows?

Actually, the only real problem I've seen is that going prone causes the ground to disappear completely, which seems like an easy fix. What kind of things have you experienced that worry you?

I've seen enough games this close to the end to know that it's all fixable. Towards release game stability changes drastically.

There is one spot near alpha that sinks you in and allows you to kill others from the ground. That's what I've encountered.

I notice that sometimes when I crouch, my character starts hopping around.

I really wish they had a kill cam similar to COD so I could see what they're seeing when they kill me. It would really help me develop a play style that would actually work.

I feel the same way about the kill cam. It's a bit annoying just seeing who killed me but what I really want to know how.

Regarding previous Facebook talk, I suppose I will try to find people from here on there. Fortunately, the "compare friends" thing makes that pretty easy.

My profile picture is David Liebe Hart.

Oh God, so many.

- Bug where you randomly stop sprinting and can't start again until you stop moving.
- Bug where you can't aim down sights unless you change weapons.
- Bug where you can't shoot period unless you change weapons.
- Bug where you spot someone, don't see the icon, but get a spot assist afterwards.
- Bug where you shoot someone and get hitmarkers, yet upon viewing the killcam it shows he's at 100% health.
- Bug where you take extra damage when moving.
- Bug where you can't place equipment.
- Bug where you fall through the map.
- Bug where you'll randomly reload 1 bullet short of the normal clip.
- Bug where the reload animation is skipped.
- Bug where it randomly boots you from the game.
- Bug where an enemy appears dead, but he's really alive.
- Bug where the sound cuts out intermittently.
- Bug where you get randomly stuck in an infinite loading screen.
- Random screen flashes.
- Squad system doesn't work.

That's just off the top of my head. Not all are game breaking, but a lot of them are. I really like the game and just don't want to rage when playing it.

It's DICE's core franchise. They'll patch all that. Only problem is the PC will probably get weekly patches while console users have to suffer for 1-2 months, then another 4-5 before they fix what the first patch busted. Love how a dying market gets supported more than a thriving one.

30 minutes till the new iPhone announcement.

If assistant turns out to be everything people are talking about, I'll boot my 4 out the window.

kill cam is up to the owner of the server. i'm assuming you guys are talking about the pc version since pc is #1.

i personally don't like kill cams since they give your position away but it can be helpful for learning the map.

How do you figure that? The 360 and PS3 are old and dying and the PC is starting to pick up steam again. Hell, even Epic is jumping ship back to the promised land.

Excited for the Portal 2 DLC, but then see it's a co-op expansion... I haven't played the existing co-op yet. Waiting on a slow friend to get through the single-player campaign. Darn.

Not sure if serious but I'll just leave this here anyway ...

Looks like the PS3 and 360 are doing fine to me. Wii is the only thing declining but thats only because its sales were outrageous and they've probably past the saturation point.

I love that iOS is barely catching up to Android 2.2 in terms of features and still lacks flash playback.

I'm still curious about the design on the iPhone 5 though, but I don't think I can ever go back to iOS.

Old and dying from a hardware standpoint. They are years behind the curve in terms of sheer power. Their sales are still huge (because there's still a huge installed userbase) but a lot of the higher-end devs (like Epic, DICE, id, etc) are starting to look towards the PC again as a cutting edge platform. Instead of producing for the 360 and porting to PC, they're back to producing for the PC and porting to the consoles.

I supposed I could rephrase my original statement as "Primary support for PS3 and 360 is dying"

Haha, only an iPhone 4S.

All those blogs failed with their bullshit iPhone 5 speculation with a tear drop design.

Get that shit out of here.

Give me a Samsung Nexus Prime now with Ice Cream Sandwich.

I definitely don't mind that I got an iPhone 4 early. 4S, while an improvement, isn't groundbreaking. Hopefully next year we'll see an LTE iPhone 6, or I guess I'll go back to Android.

A lot of friends were holding out for the 5 - I think they'll hold out a while longer. Dumb move Apple - no wonder their stock dropped.

The lack of 4G is pretty ridiculous. Unless there's something I'm missing, I can't see many Sprint customers picking up the 4S. I'll definitely be keeping my EVO for the next year.

iPhone is a status symbol. I can definitely see a lot a ton of people picking up a Sprint iPhone just to be "cool".

Being the only carrier with unlimited data for the iPhone (even if it's only 3G) is a nice selling point as well.

I think it's pretty wonky that people thought they would announce both a 4S and 5 at the same time.

Myself, I liked what I saw. I really like the improvements to the camera - 73% more light pulled in will make a real difference, at the very least. Siri was also pretty awesome looking. It's a lot faster, of course, and that's certainly a good thing. As far as lack of 4G, they are claiming that it matches the real world speed of 4G phones, but that will remain for the likes of anandtech to verify or debunk, not myself.

Still, I'll probably wait for the 5. Actually I probably have to - not up for an upgrade until late next year.

Going to Red Cross to donate blood. (Havent gone in 4 years). Going for haircut after that.

Uncharted says I'm 64% complete. Playing on medium even. Gorgeous game if slightly repetitive. Kill all enemies in room. Prince of persia platforming. Kill more enemies through duck, cover, headshot.

Well, there's definitely that.

For Sprint customers like me, though, who already have a 4G-capable Android phone, I just don't see today's announcements as very exciting. It may ultimately be a hardware upgrade, but if you have 4G in your area, it's somewhat of a downgrade. So I guess there are some benefits, but there really should have been more, and I don't see a justification for an iPhone purchase for people in my situation.

Granted, you're right about the status symbol thing. And I can see Sprint stealing some customers who want the unlimited data.

For clarification purposes, I would be interested in getting an iPhone, but I just don't want this iPhone.

Methinks I waited too long to order Dark Souls.

If anyone manages to find a collectors edition for PS3 I will gladly reimburse cost plus shipping plus a little something something on the side.

Gave blood. First time in like 5 years. Shouldnt have been so lazy about going. Wish they wouldnt use the tape on my hair arms though.

I'd like to try Dark Souls, but then again I thought I would enjoy Demon Souls as well. (I didnt')
