Well, there's definitely that.
For Sprint customers like me, though, who already have a 4G-capable Android phone, I just don't see today's announcements as very exciting. It may ultimately be a hardware upgrade, but if you have 4G in your area, it's somewhat of a downgrade. So I guess there are some benefits, but there really should have been more, and I don't see a justification for an iPhone purchase for people in my situation.
Granted, you're right about the status symbol thing. And I can see Sprint stealing some customers who want the unlimited data.
For clarification purposes, I would be interested in getting an iPhone, but I just don't want this iPhone.
