2001: A Last Movie You Saw Odyssey
If you have the Unrated DVD of Harold & Kumar, send that too. You don't know my address? Haven't you been practicing your mind-reading skills? Slacker...
I'm a complete and utter failure in the mind-reading department. I fear I'll never reach your skill level.
Says the man who owns Blankman, Captain Ron, Dennis the fuckING Menace, All 6 Ernest movies, Little Monsters, Men at Work, Problem Child, and Spy Hard.
Movies of my childhood.

Nice try, though.

Just like William H. Macy, you'll never win the Oscar, chimpy.

I tried to watch 2001 last night after the USC game, but it wasn't a good mix with only having 3 hours of sleep the night before. The monkey thing was interesting, I'll try to watch the rest when I have more sleep.

Yes, but I did win the hearts of thousands with my portrayal of a mentally-challenged man in the brave and wonderful TV movie "Door to Door" (available on Amazon.com).

L'Atalante

Very well done early sound film, and a great performance from Michel Simon.

Random bit of information from Truffaut's The Films in My Life: Director Jean Vigo died at 29, leaving behind only 3 films, but nonetheless, is considered one of the founding fathers of French poetic realism. Troof.
And you ragged on me for Magnolia.

;)
I got yo back homie. Magnolia is one of my favorite films. Even though I do believe Crash sort of dethroned it as far as movies of it's type goes.

I watched the Family Guy flick Friday night and it has it's moments, but it isn't as funny as I would have hoped. It's worth watching just to see the Griffins in the future though. Enjoyable if you're a fan of the show.
Nights of Cabiria

Simply awesome, I've finally found a Fellini that I can really love.
La Strada and 8 1/2 are even better! :hot::hot::hot::hot::hot:

La Dolce Vita, for me. Note that I didn't plan the Fellini thing ahead of time, Zman's just biting my style. The movie was very good, but a little on the long side.
I'd love to see La Strada, and, as far as 8 1/2 is concerned, I didn't like it when I saw it, but I've been wanting to give it another shot for some time, and Cabiria sealed the deal; I put a hold on it again at the library, so I should be seeing it again in a week or two.

Nightmare on Elm Street 4: Dream Master.

I remember the first time I saw 2001, in a hotel on a debate trip in high school at around 2 am. Someone had snuck in some beer, so I was exhausted and buzzing slightly, and I remember sitting on the bed watching it while the other folks in the room were being wild high school kids. I blinked, turned away from the tv to check the clock, and saw 45 minutes had passed [it was toward the end with all the lights and colors and patterns and weird stuff.]

Man's got taste.

I've been meaning to buy 'Crash'; I missed it in theatres.

Another good film, in this style, is Robert Altman's "Short Cuts".

Chasing Amy

Damn good. Not only funny, but a poignant story as well. Not sure if it was quite as good as Clerks, but certainly on the same level.
Shawn of the Dead. Pretty sweet parody.
Ya, some dormmates and I had to drive about an hour and a half to see that movie in the theatres. It was so worth it
I might watch "The Warriors" in a bit.
Is that the new director's cut, or the original version? I heard that the new version is changed quite a bit.

The Return

One of the best cinematic debuts ever. A beautiful, haunting work of art.

Nostalghia

It's Tarkovsky, so it goes without saying it's one of the most amazing films ever made.

The director's cut. Still haven't watched it yet. ;o

If...

Great film, surreal and rebellious, with a very solid performance from a pre-Clockwork Orange Malcolm McDowell (who has several similarities to the infamous Alex).

Dead Meat, an Irish zombie film. I was pleasently surprised by how well it was done. The acting gets a little clunky for about 10 minutes during the midpoint of the film, but the atmosphere is awesome, especially the lighting. Recommended for those looking for a little less generic zombie film.

The Return

Quite good, it's great in several parts, with excellent cinematography and acting throughout, but it didn't fully stick with me overall, and the execution of the ending seemed problematic to me. Still, a very solid debut, and worth checking out.

Please Teach Me English, which is a funny yet sweet Korean comedy.

About to go and (finally) start watching that mega gigantic Undertaker 3 disc set... wish me luck on that.

The Machinist

A pretty average mindfuck movie, but you gotta admire what Christian Bale put into the movie, going through all the weight loss for his part and turning in quite a fine performance.

Blue Velvet

So I watch it again and like it this time, but it still pales next to Lynch's best work. Good, but nowhere near the heights of Eraserhead or Mulholland Dr.

Heinikin? Heinikin!?!

PABST BLUE RIBBON

Anyway I just saw Mindhunters. I thought it was actually pretty good (esp if you don't expect much) - anyone else seen this movie?

Cool, last time I tried to rent it it was completely checked out, think I'll try again to get it on monday.

The Double Life of Veronique - A beautiful, haunting film. It doesn't hurt that Irene Jacob is essentially the perfect example of a woman, either. ;-)

Naked - Very good, somewhat disturbing drama. Very psychological, I dug it.

Testament of Orpheus - Not as good as the first two in Cocteau's Orphic trilogy, but still very artistic and impressive.

Ugetsu - Great Japanese film, can't wait for that loaded Criterion package.
