Damn... That was impressive. Lakers win 128-107. Kobe- the *real* MVP- with 40; 21 for Gasol; 19 points and 19 rebounds for Odom. But I'm not getting too excited. This won't happen again. I guarantee it. The Suns are too good to be blown out again. I won't predict a winner for game 2, but I'll say that it will be decided by no more than 6 points.

Man.. the Suns got shitted on. I only caught the end of the third and half of the fourth, but all I saw was Pau and Lamar just ripping down rebounds with about 2-3 Suns in the paint. Good shit. Lakers in 5.

The announcers pointed out that Phoenix hasn't lost back to abck games since late January. That's insane. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them win on Wednesday.

Also, I must say that the 4 days in between games 2 and 3 is ridiculous, especially when there are only 2 series going on.
Lakers fans don't like to show up until the second quarter anyways, so why not start it at 8:30?
Funny you would say that since my friend was getting off work at 8 today so she was able to catch it late in the 3rd quarter lol. All I can say is Odom better keep up his play from tonight. Dude was on point.

NBA draft lottery is tonight from NJ. One of the biggest nights in Nets history. 1st pick gets them Wall and improves their odds of getting Lebron James and another top tier free agent.

This is true, but I'm not discouraged at all, the Suns played poorly and kept the game close for most of it until the Lakers blew it open.

But the thing that bothers me is, while the Lakers are a good team... the TNT broadcasters need to ease up on the Lakers' ass licking, at least try to sound impartial please.

Yes, blocks on defense count when deciding if that player was shut down on offense... Oh and...
In all those looks, he had an opportunity to knock it down. I can rattled off names that could have made those shots (Ewing, Hakeem, Bynum, Gasol, Kobe, ...).

Every player has off nights (except maybe Lebron and Kobe). I wouldn't make more into this. I doubt you consider Bargnani an elite defender and he watched Howard go 4 for 11 back in Nov. Or how about Nene as he watched Howard go 1 for 7 back in Jan. I pick these games because Howard wasn't in foul trouble.

Watch Lebron fool everybody and go somewhere nobody expected him to go. I figure about every NBA team is going to offer to Lebron. David Stern will probably cry if he/bosh/wade all end up in the same town. As for NJ (if they get the first pick), it would be best to deal Wall. They already have a point guard in Delvin Harris. I think Evan Turner or a player like that is their best fit. They are extremely weak at SF. CDR is too erratic to be a star.

Wall seems to be more of a superstar player to build their team around. Which would increase the excitement/fan base of the Nets. No chance in hell they are going to trade him and keep Harris. It should be the other way round. Plus Harris is 7 years older. Wall can be the face of the franchise with Lopez for the next 15 years.
I dont know what the deal is but I lose interest more and more in the NBA every year. There is something about the games that just dont thrill me anymore.

The games dont have any flow to them and the lack of a hard nose defensive team just makes it boring. I guess I am just to much of a fan of the old NBA where games didnt average 40 plus fouls and every game was a fucking war. (thats a real stat by the way) and the fouls that did occur were Man sized fouls and none of this pussy "the offensive player had to adjust thats a foul."

I really hate Davids Sterns Nickelodeon Style NBA. Every interview is cookie cutter, every press conference is full of the same 3rd grade questions and half answers. And I feel like I watch free throws and huddles more than the actual game.
I have felt the exact same way over the years. They punish good defense way too much because someone's jersey touched another's. The one thing I really hate is the way many attackers (Kobe included) will purposely move their bodies into a standing defender for "contact" just to get the foul call and possible 2+1. Bullshit.

That and fouls just take way too much time. The last 1 minute of a close game can take like half an hour with all the foul delays. It's mind numbing.

And yes, the interviews don't offer a whole lot. Personally, I'd love to see someone come up with a buzz-word bingo card for them. "We just had to adjust." "We gave it 110%." "We played hard." BINGO!

The NBA pushed me into the arms of another lover. Her name is the NHL. There is so much less princess pampering there and the pace is unrelenting. A small foul means a face off in the offending team's zone. A big foul means a man sits out and gives the opposing team a numbers advantage for a couple minutes. They don't even stop to rest tired players. They hop in and out of the rink mid play!

Don't get your hopes up. The year Duncan came out the Celtics had the worst record in the league and owned the pick of the team with the third worst record. We ended up getting pick 3 and 5 drafted Ron Mercer and Chauncey Billups. Don't be surprised if you are drafting five

Also what bugs me the most about refs coddling the stars is those are the guys that need the bailout the least. So frustrating to see your guy somehow stop Kobe and then it go all naught because a touch foul was called

Yea, being that I am a sports nut I am a fan of most anything. I actually do like the NHL a lot (rare because I am black) because it has a lot of similarity to my one and only love....Soccer. (I played in college)

Coming from the end of Soccer season to the NBA is mind numbing because the pace of the NBA is sooo slow. I know there is a stereotype surrounding soccer from most Americans but the EP is really fast paced with a lot less flopping.

Anyway, I dont want to junk up the NBA thread. I hope tonight's game is much better than last nights game.

I am not a Nets fan. The worse the Nets can draft is 4th. Only up to 3 teams can move up in the lottery. 4 to the end is based on record.

so who you guys think will win the lottery tonight? i will go with either the sixers or wizards, think nets will end up with 3rd pick

Jazz will win the lottery. Just to kick the Knicks fans in the balls again and again and again for all of Isiah Thomas stupid bonehead trades.

Wizards get 1, Sixers get 2, Nets get 3

Looks like Wall will be going to Washington. With Arenas up in limbo, it is safe to say he gets drafted by them.
Nets got fucked up the ass. No offense, but that team deserved the #1 pick.
No other team has it worse than the Warriors......trust me.

LOL @ John Wall's reaction of going to the Wizards....

Think about his chances:

Kings: Pair up with TyFreak
Sixers: Be the town's new Iverson
Nets: Get LeBron
Warriors: Pair up with Curry

And he gets the Wizards? Ouch.

called it:lol:

Magic need to turn it on. Better start than game 1, but down 14-10 early. Can't afford to drop the first 2 at home.

Howard continues to frustrate me with his lack of growth on offense. :bomb:

It's not so much his growth on offense as his growth in maturity that's really problematic. Yes, he gets hit on every play, but so did Shaq. Shaq didn't cry, he just tore the rim down. Take notes, Dwight.

True. But he's still not gotten any consistent move. He has a little hook shot, but very inconsistent with it. Really needs a turn around, or ability to hit a jumper from 8-10 feet etc.

With one of the best offensive centers of all time coaching him, I expected more growth than that on offense.

He's big, but he's not Shaq big. He can't knock other people out of the way and dunk all the time like Shaq could.

I came a little late and have only watched 10 min of the game...you know what I saw?

12 TV ads 3 fouls called 4 free throws 2 worthless insights by on the floor reporters.

Is this even basketball anymore?
if celtcs win tonight, it will be a sweep
Agreed.

Magic win tonight, I still say they win in 6. They have more depth to win the series, but can't get behind 0-2 at home.

The only growth I have seen is with the spin move and free throws. I agree he needs to be more consistent with the jump hook.

No it is called foul shooting.

28-27 Magic after 1.

Great play by Redick in limited minutes. 9 points on two threes and 3 FTs from getting fouled on another.

Good minutes in game 1 as well, he needs to play more in this series as he does a good job chasing Ray Allen around as well.

Personally I feel he should be on the floor anytime Ray plays. Last year series, JJ had him locked down. I have to give it up for Gortat's minutes.

I like how Perice got up like he was about to do something......get the hell out of here Perice.

That is a hard play off fouls...for every 10 times you pump fake and then jump into a defender like a bitch you might get smacked a little.

TOO MANY FOULS!!!!!!!

are you kidding me ref... so Lewis isn't allowed to try and go for a rebound...these refs are pathetic... first the no call travel on rondo and now this...

For Dafoomie and J7...
Game 2 Howard watch - 17 points on 6 of 7 shooting at half time

Another area Howard just isn't improving is in the silly fouls. His 4th was just retarded. No need for a center to pick up that kind of obvious foul, especially when you already have 3!

It really wasnt a foul. He had all ball. It was one of those Paul Pierce acting jobs. Give him the oscar!

Just more fuel about this horrible ref crew... Ref throws ball at fan and asks the fan to be ejected for throwing it back at him. Not to mention they aren't getting the floor cleaned. David Stern... this is unacceptable. The way we are going Orlando wont have enough players to finish the game before Boston fully fouls out.

It was a debatable call. But a center should be out trying to slap the ball away in transition anyway. Especially when you have 3 fouls already! Just low basketball IQ.

78-70 Boston at end of 3rd.

Orlando needs to start playing with some fire. Especially Lewis--as the announcers noted, he really seems lackadaisical tonight.

He has been a defense liability tonight and even last game. Let alone his lackluster look. I know your friends with Ray Allen but man play with some fire.

Paul Pierce watch - 8 for 14, 26 points (I guess you guys were right, he didn't score 22 again tonight)

Rashard Lewis watch - 5 points

The Magic will lose this series and it will solely be on the head of Lewis. He has one of the most absurd contracts in the league and he is a complete ghost right now and has been for a while.

Yeah, I was skeptical of that contract--but he proved me wrong last year.

This year has been a different story, though he was much better in the 2nd half of the season. Just awful tonight.

Anyway, 87-83 Boston with 5 and change to play.

Yeah, that was a bullshit call.

Missed the foul on Garnett first, then that was a clear block. You can't jump in front of someone already in the air.

It doesn't matter when Rashard Lewis f's up our defensive scheme.

The way JJ played tonight he should have had the ball in the last two possesions.

Congrats Boston. Based on our performance from a defensive standpoint the past two games, there is no way we win this series. Also, you can see the passion the celtics are playing with; we sure aren't showing anywhere close to them.
Howard watch - 30 points on 9 of 13 shooting (final)

Last note, I hope the refs get reprimanded for their actions in this game.

Edit: New Last Note... the Rondo discussion earlier... Rondo was easily the x-factor in tonights win. As Magic said... The Big 1 and the little 3. He made some great shots.

The Reddick thing was bullshit but the Magic just f*cked themselves. How do you go into the playoffs beating the crap out of everyone, then get your ass kicked for 6 quarters and expect to just turn it on in the 4th of both games. Vince Carter? Real clutch guy. Rashard who?

If the Magic had played 4 qt in both games the way they have in the 4 quarters then they would be up 2-0 easily. It takes them to damn long to make adjustments or something. Luckily I don't care about bb to much but I enjoy watching the Magic.
