2009/2010 NFL Thread - Combine Time - Draft 4/22 -
Too lazy but if you check the 07/08.....I was on that Shaun Hill bandwagon.....called that fool Shaun Romo/Tony Hill.....

I say the Seahawks take the decision.....49ers go 8-8.....

Breakout Year: Vernon Davis

Cut: Manny Lawson
I hope Davis can have a break out year but I am skeptical on that. Manny Lawson will get hurt within the first 3 weeks.

I remember a bunch of the Niner fans in here saying how good Alex Smith was last year and me having some arguments with them showing them stats from Hills starts and Smiths. Not saying it was you, just in general.
Shawne Merriman was arrested for allegedly choking Tila Tequila. That's 8 different kinds of crazy.

I wonder what Tila will have to say about all this on Twitter.
I wonder what kind of loser follows Tila Tequila on Twitter.
I wonder what kind of loser follows Tila Tequila on Twitter.
Guilty as charged.

Azu, I'm pumped for this season myself, seeing how the Packers have dominated in the preseason. Hopefully, they can keep it up when it counts.
Richard Seymour to the Raiders? Wtf? Who'd he piss off?

Patriots get 1st round draft pick in 2011.
Still can't believe it. Dude's been one of the top players on the team and now he's gone. This is one of those times where I question Belichick but it'll probably work out fine. Sey turns 30 in October I think, and it's probably safe to assume the Patriots could not/would not give him a competitive contract, especially after his comeback last season. It will be weird watching the defense without Vrabel, Bruschi, and Seymour.

And unless the Raiders plan on paying Seymour big for a new contract, this move makes no sense for them.

It's Prediction time!

AFC East: Patriots
AFC South: Colts
AFC West: Raiders
to finish last; seriously, the Chargers
AFC North: Steelers
5th seed: Ravens
6th seed: Texans

NFC East: Giants
NFC North: Packers
NFC South: Saints
NFC West: 49ers
5th seed: Redskins
6th seed: Bears

AFC Champions: Patriots
NFC Champions: Redskins

Super Bowl Champions: Patriots

Okay, okay. NFC pick is a bit fanboyish, but keep in mind that the last few NFC Champions went on crazy hot streaks at the end of the season, stemming into the playoffs, getting them to the Super Bowl. AFC has pretty much been chalk.

The Jets found out Favre had a torn biceps tendon in week 11 and never listed him on their injury reports. Take away their 1st round pick!

Well, that's probably going to be the only good quarter of the game.

Q1: 3-3
Q2: 10-6
Q3: 24-13
Q4: 31-13

That's how I see it going. Steelers win of course.

I took the night off from work to watch this game. It's tough being a Steelers fan in the heart of Patriots country; I don't get to see my boys play on TV very often. Was going to do NFL Sunday Ticket this year, but then both kids needed braces, my hot water tank sprung a leak, and it's "Maybe next year".

GO STEELERS!

Wow Steelers putting up 31 on the Titans. I don't know about that. Titans D is solid. Titans won last years game 31-14. I think it will be a close game tonight with Pitt coming out on top.

My Titans are playing pretty good right now. Although I think they should run the ball a little more to loosen up their defense.

Lets go Titans.

Great game so far. I would say that the Titans have been playing better but the Steelers should ultimately come up with the win mainly because of the home field advantage.

You know what I'm most looking forward to?

The Raiders continuing their near decade-long implosion.

They will never win anything until Al Davis is literally dead. It is so weird that one guy can so consistantly ruin a franchise and no one can do a damn thing about it.

Argh. Really missing Jim Schwartz right now. fuck I hate this new defensive cord he called a bullshit game.

Our front 4 wasnt getting to ben at all so why the hell were you calling full field zones giving Big Ben 5-10 seconds to find a open receiver. Horribly called defensive game by the Titans.

But we did miss two FG which would have won us the game.

Those terrible towels are one of the worst fan gimmicks I've ever seen. Any of you Steelers fans go watch a game at the stadium? I'd be pissed if the asshole in front of me was waving a towel like an idiot all game long and fucking with my vew of the field.
Polamalu out 3-6 weeks with a sprained MCL fuck!
I really cringed when they showed that in slow-mo. With a hit/landing like that he is lucky that it wasn't worse than a few weeks.
Madden curse strikes again.
That was my first thought as well.

My second thought? Shit, Larry Fitzgerald is on my fantasy team.

Very entertaining game, played out exactly how I would have expected. Also nice to see Santonio Holmes picking up where he left off in the Super Bowl, he's ended up on my fantasy team every year he's been in the league and I have high hopes this year.

One other observation: Collinsworth was great, definitely a breath of fresh air after years of Madden. Yes, Madden knew the game just as well, but Collinsworth is infinitely better at conveying that knowledge.

The game didn't go quite the way I thought it would, but it easily could have if the Steelers actually played well (bad turnovers, long sacks, lack of something called a run game).

#1 - Steelers need to improve their offensive line. It just looked awful.
#2 - Polamalu getting hurt = Fitzgerald is going to have an awesome year*
#3 - Where did the Titans pressure go after the first half?

* - I want to explain this, because I am crazy when it comes to predictions. Every time a player is on Madden and they are cursed, they are looking to the right of the cover, or in this case, Polomalu. Therefore, the Madden curse sacrifice has been made for this year, so Fitzgerald has been spared by the Football Gods.

But that doesn't mean the Cardinals are going to be good.

There was a douche bag going around the Metrodome during the Vikings/Chiefs preseason game with one of those damn towels. Really dumb.

The game could have also easily went the Titans way if they actually converted on the Steeler turnovers and great field position they had a few times. Titans blew that game with a lot of missed opportunities.

i dont think it was entirely the O-Lines fault. TEs and Backs blew assignments too and Ben holds on to the football for a LONG time. holding it for more than 5-6 seconds should get you sacked. didnt Collinsworth mention that during the game?

all in all it was an awesome game. to me at least, it lived up to the hype.

random story,
I got to meet Kenny Britt at a signing at a local memorabilia store here jersey. That dude is funny and i hope he makes his mark in the NFL.

Collinsworth was better than I expected him to be so that was enjoyable. Hope for it to continue at Green Bay on Sunday Night.

Not to mention missing a very make able field goal and having another blocked. Not to say the result would have necessarily been different, but in a game in which they scored ten points, I'm sure they would have liked to have had those six.

1 game, 1 madden curse. fitz better watch out.

so i went to the concert last night, and the bar had a tv with the game on! it was win win!

Bit of an understatement there. I saw on ESPN probably an hour or so ago, that his receptions (9), yards (131) and TDs (1) last night were the exact same as his stats from the Super Bowl last year.

I totally forgot about Madden's bad juju. :cold:

Weird. He's a very talented guy. Obviously the Steelers run game won't be hampered like that in every game, but it was an encouraging start for him. I also have Parker on my team, so it's a double edged sword.
Packers are now an AFC team? ;)
Haha fixed, I meant the Patriots!

And that really was a terrific game. I couldn't care less about either, but they are both going to be scary this season. And hopefully Troy comes back but then mysteriously disappears for the Vikings game :)

Fitzgerald will hopefully not get hurt too bad. But honestly, I think the Madden gods were appeased by this injury.

However, it is now truly Football season because for the first time since last season I went to the supermarket and I saw it. Football Dr. Pepper cans! Aw yeah!

Can someone explain the new Hines Ward rule? It states that you can not block someone with your helmet, forarm or shoulder.

Uhhhh, then what the fuck are you suppose to use to block someone running at full speed? You would break your wrist trying to block someone sprinting with your arms.
