2009/2010 NFL Thread - Combine Time - Draft 4/22 -

I need to pick another team to cheer for the rest of the year, the Bears don't deserve my cheers. What a turd of a performance that was by the defense.

You take the bad times and the good times. Can't bandwagon.

Niners hella sucked this week. Atleast the Titans got their first win last week instead of this week.

So Alex Smith proves once again why he does not deserve the shot he is getting. The Niners play the worst pass defense team in the NFL and Smith plays like his usual self. He has shown no growth in his game. They start off the game well by moving the ball down field 3 times in the first half and have a few 3 and outs mixed in there. It looked like the Titans were trying to focus a lot on Gore but Gore played well. Then the 2nd half starts and the turnovers begin. This is the reason Shaun Hill was the starter in the first place. They might move the ball a up a down the field a tad better with Smith, but Smith loses games for them. Today he forced passes, went to the check down way to quickly, once again had no poise and would leave the pocket way to quickly instead of stepping up, threw passes way to late, etc.

There are no excuses anymore. The only thing I give the guy is that he had a different offensive coordinator every year. Which by no way is an easy thing to over come. But this year he has more weapons then he has ever had. Crabtree, Davis, Gore, Morgan, Hill, so on. And I hate to say this because I am not a fan of Jimmy Raye, but in the game today they tried to play to Alex Smiths strengths. They lined him up in the Shotgun and were spreading the field, and the guy still cannot make plays. The Niners were 3-3 with Shaun Hill at QB. He threw for 943 yards had 5 TDs and 2 INTs. The guy is like 10-7 as a starter. Smith has thrown 6 TDs and 5 INTs. He has a better completion %. If you take out the 3 TD 1 INT 2nd half against the Texans. Smith now has 2 starts with 3 Tds and 4 INTs and he lost a couple fumbles. Not to mention the Niners are 0-2 and I don't even want to mention Smiths career win/loss record.

The bottom line is Hill has proven he can win games. Do I think he is the solution at QB for the future....absolutely not. But for right now he gives them the best chance to win. If the Niners want to be a playoff team they need to beat teams like the Titans.

So whats the Gruden/Holmgren/Shanahan sweepstakes look like? If things don't shape up for the Packers in the next couple weeks I'm not entirely against tanking to get one of those guys in here next year.

Huge Saints fan here. We're trying hard to go undefeated this year. We've had some injuries on offensive/defensive line the last few games so we've having more turnovers and letting the run get a few years, but still, nobody's managed to beat us. Hope it stays that way. :)

I'd imagine the Patriots will be able to beat the Saints.
So will the Vikings in the NFC Championship game :)
But now is a good time to be a Saints fan.

My God is the Bears D pathetic! They are making the 49ers look like an offense.

EDIT: OK, as soon as I say that Smith gets sacked and Nedney misses a chip shot FG.
god dammit. as a 49ers fan im glad cutler got picked off. as a fantasy football player im pissed cutler got picked off.
I hear ya. It's one of those deals where you want your team to win but you'd also love for it to be a 45-35 score so you get plenty of fantasy pts at the same time.

Good win for the Niners to end that losing streak.

The defense looked good, but once again Alex Smith and the offense looked bad. At least Crabtree looks legit.
Great win by the Packers over th Cowboys, 17-7.
So close to a shutout. I had to stop watching the game, because everytime I did, something positive would happen for the Cowboys lol

I guess 13.5 hall of fame QBs picked the wrong QB for this game at least. That weak schedule the Colts have had may have maked some issues

Oh well I think the AFC Championship game is a rematch and the Pats proved that they can handle the dome
Woooooooooo

Belichick's cockiness screwed him again. Going for it on 4th down, foolish.
Yes! I second that! That cocky fuck got what he deserved!

I have been a Patriots fan for a long time and I can't remember ever being more disgusted by a regular season loss. For all his brilliance, Belichick just made one of the most stupid decisions I have ever seen an NFL coach make. The Patriots' players did not deserve to be fucked by their coach like that.

Yes he had them go for it because he wants to be cocky not because he thought that was the best decision for his defense... stupid decision yes, cockiness no.
It wasn't cockiness and he didn't fucking bobble the football, wtf is that shit, they got the first down.
They could have punted and probably would have won the game if they had. Colt's offense were turning it on in the 4th quarter but there's no way they were gonna make 70 yds in 2 minutes. He made the call to go for it because he wanted to end the game right there.

One of the angles clearly showed him bobbling the ball prior to going down.

Can I make an appointment with an eye doctor for you?

HAHAHA, down go the Pats, WOOHOO!

I'm a BB defender through and through, and I can't even begin to muster a defense for that. It was an absolutely terrible call in every respect.

He figured he had a better chance of getting the 1st down than stopping Manning with 2 minutes to go. And they got the damn 1st.

That PI call was a game changer. Collie overran the ball, bumped into Butler who was going for the ball and he got the call on Butler. fucking unbelievable.

Roger Goodell is sucking Bill Polian's cock in the stands right now.
I saw the replay and he was not bobbling, they got fucked over.
He CLEARLY bobbled, don't know what you think you saw.
I saw the replay and he was not bobbling, they got fucked over.
He was bobbling. The Patriots did get fucked over, but it was by their coach. He also prevented them from even challenging it by wasting 2 timeouts.

BB? No shit it was a terrible call, I said it was a terrible call. All I'm saying is that it wasn't because of cockiness.

Bill Belichick. I'd rather it had been cocky than what it actually was: fucking stupid.

I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean. If tonight proved anything it's that these teams are evenly matched. Both will make the playoffs easily and I fully expect to see this game again (once again inside, now).
Haha, now the Dolphins and the Jets are within 2 games of the Patriots. That's a shame...
If you think either of those teams has much of a shot at catching the Patriots, I'm not sure which teams you've been watching over the last month or so. Of course the division isn't over, but there's a pretty wide quality discrepancy. The Patriots weren't bad tonight by any means, their coach just let them down (the defense isn't blameless either).

There is a certain point in EVERYTHING in life... when there is THAT moment when you realize that you are no longer immortal, that there are chinks in the armor.

Rocky just cut the big bag Russian tonight. And the Big Bad Russian realizes it. Is the Big Bad Russian still big and bad, of course. But now he knows he's human.
