I take back what I said about this season being a total waste; at least I got to see the Cards go down in flames. Sweet, sweet justice for last year.

I'm indifferent on the WS since I don't have any care for either team, but if I had to pick a winner, I would go with the Tigers. I will take a set rotation over starting a series off with Zito and Lincecum/Bumgarner/Vogelsong on three-days rest. But it is the World Series, you never know what can happen.

BTW this is how wet we were celebrating the win!

what a start to the series...hopefully the rest of the games keep it up.

and a big HAHA to Carlton Fisk, I met him when I was 9 or 10 at an event and he refused to sign a baseball for me, along with several other young kids. fucker

I don't know where this team came from. I don't think anybody had them pegged to win the title before the season, and I know I didn't pay them much attention all year, but they're showing they definitely deserve to win.

Most teams that are in the World Series are not ones people would've thought won in the beginning of the season.

Great pitching tonight by Bumgarner.

Will be tougher in Detroit but nice to see the Giants take care of business at home.

I'm not really afraid of going on the road, the Giants have been the best team in the majors on the road. I'm torn though, I want them to win it A S A P, but I want them to win it in front of the home crowd.

As someone who is the first to admit they hate baseball, I'm a sports fan first and foremost, and I've actually been enjoying watching the World Series and the occasional playoff game the last couple years. The series last year especially was a pleasure to watch.

So as an impartial fan, I can honestly say it's been exciting to watch these Giants come back from a 3-1 deficit and ride that momentum all the way to a dominant performance in the World Series so far.

Jiminy Christmas, the Tigers need to wake up! They looked really out of their element in SanFran, only the fourth time they finished a game without a run this entire season. They have played much better at home than the road all year so hopefully they can at least make this series respectable. Go Tigers!

Good grief. I'm so tired of this happening with baseball. A team that looked dominant in one round just completely disappearing in the next round. Normally, I'd say "Geez, the Yankees would have done better than this!", but the way they finished this year, I doubt they would have. It's just crazy that the Cardinals left a tiny crack in the door for the Giants, and they're busting through it all the way to a championship. If this doesn't prove that there's really no such thing as "the best team" in baseball, only the team that catches fire at the right moment, I don't know what will. What a crazy ass sport, lol.

Cabrera and Fielder need to give some of that money back. That was pathetic, especially Fielder. Outside of Game 1, the Detroit pitching was pretty excellent. They just got no run support.

Over. Out. fuck yeah. Too bad it's in Detroit because it's a goddamn funeral procession outside that circle of celebrating Giants.

Yeah, this last game was more like the series could have been if the Tigers could have found their bats earlier. All credit to the Giants though, they played very well in the series. The entire SanFran team was effective, with different guys stepping up at different times.

Yup, what a pathetic whimper for this season to go out on. I'm happy for Giants fans, but as a fan of the sport, that was a terrible World Series. When you see shit like this and the ALCS, you wonder how the Orioles or A's managed to lose. It would really be nice to see teams play to their potential for once. Not to take anything away from the Giants, but the Tigers made it easy on them.

Wish I could see the look on his face; he's a good player but I always want to slap that smug look on his face when he gets a hit (all too often much to my chagrin).

One of my favorite moments from the World Series was when Prince Fielder smacked the ball and did a little showy bat flip and started jogging to first thinking he just got a hit and Blanco makes a badass defensive play and Fielder just stops in his tracks looking so dejected. I can't stand Prince Fielder, been that way since he killed the career of Todd Greene.

Stay classy, San Francisco.

San Francisco police are hoping that someone will be able to identify this ne'er do well or some of the people standing around him as he smashed a giant barricade through a SF Muni bus window. The incident happened late Sunday night after the San Francisco Giants clinched their second World Series title in three seasons and triggered the eventual burning of the $1 million vehicle.

Bah, just a fairweather fan hooligan being stupid because they weren't there to do that in 2010.

I am pretty ashamed at the moronic behavior, though. It's always the extreme minority that ruins a good time for everyone else.

....and Peavy signs a 2 year/ 29 mill extension. IMO, his option was a no brainer and Chicago pretty much extended him by one year for 9 mill. Wonder if this is what Boras will look for Jackson.

Guess I'll lock in my FA predictions....

1) Zack Greinke- Dodgers 6/120m
If Angels decline Haren's option, I can see them retaining Greinke. Otherwise, I don't think they have the budget.

2) J.Hamilton- Brewers 4/100m (+ 5th year option of 25m based on games played)
Brewers passed on Reyes and Fielder last offseason, traded Greinke. I believe they have the money and Hamilton fill up seats

3) M.Bourn- Giants 5/80 mill

4) N.Swisher- Red Sox- 4/67 mill

Seems that this year's world series had the lowest ratings out of any world series. Can't say I'm surprised.
Does anyone know if they include non-traditional forms as well, such a mobile apps for smartphones or MLB.tv for Xbox 360? Not that I would dispute the raw numbers since neither the Detroit or SF/Bay metro areas are the largest markets. edit: Well, they are closer to the top of list of 100 biggest than I originally thought: SF/Bay is #6 and Detroit is #11 according to this link.

And this off-season should be pretty busy with all of the upcoming free agencies. I'm curious to find out how many players on the current A's and Giants rosters will remain until Opening Day next year.

I know a lot of people here listened to it on the radio instead of watching it on TV because Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are fucking awful. They're getting really close to being Mitch Williams bad.

I know my neighbors opted for the radio option, could hear 680am from down the street.

Fox decided to broadcast an announcer-less signal for this series, worked by eliminating the center channel output (at least that's how I did it). I hope they continue it because I'm not a huge fan of either announcer. I have nothing personal against them but both Joe and Tim sound completely dry-pan and don't seem to get excited about anything.

Most of these sound about right, but look for the Rangers to make a big play for Greinke. However, I expect most of the Rangers offseason business to involve getting rid of PADMY's contract and finding a way for Jurickson Profar to be in the line-up everyday, while shoring up the outfield and catching positions.
The Phillies will get Upton if they can't land Bourn.
Do Phillies have the pieces? Don't know much about the Phillies farm; Cloud and Brown would need to be the foundation.

Oh, I meant BJ, not Justin.
Trade didn't go through, instead they decline his option. heh
And it looks like the Angels were trying to dump him for just about anything to save the 2 million... definitely a red flag. Although, I can still see him sign a 2-3 year deal.

From what I saw, the Cubs saw a red flag and cancelled the deal.

At least you could pretty much see everyone. When the Phillies won they put them all in those open top busses but they put half the team on one side and half on the other so you would only see half of them. And if you were me, then you saw the shitty half. It was pretty terrible.
