I think all fixtures are pretty much up for sale, which is a good thing. There will probably be a rush on those things, though.

Considering the next nearest Musicland location is more than likely in Indianapolis (if there are any left afterwards), I think they're just going to be laid off. That may not necessarily be a problem since there are plenty of other stores in the area that are hiring at the moment (thankfully!) but it still sucks a great deal.
 
Both the Sam Goody and Suncoast in my city are closing. I guess the 40% off will bring their prices down to REASONABLE levels. I'll check it out once it's like 60%.

Virgin actually quietly closed down several underperforming Megastores last year. The ones I have been to in Orlando, Los Angeles, Anaheim, and Hollywood are always packed though with a huge line at the registers. I hope they don't close all stores though as they have autograph signings periodically and I've met a few celebrities there.

And to answer a post higher up, all the Sam Goody's I have been to did sell PC games. The two in Tampa, FL don't have many PC games left though and they probably didn't have much to begin with.

agh I see, just avoid that crap called star wars galaxies starter kit...i don't care if it goes for 90% off 19.99, there is too much fustration and disapointment that lies inside that game.
 
I must be in the minority here but I have been finding some decent deals @ My local sam goody. I got a ds system for 90, wireless 360 controller, 3 xbox 360 games (nfs, king kong, call of duty 2) and 4 ds games mariokart, mario 64, mario and luigi partners in time, and chronicles of narnia. All for 30% off. Compared all prices to other places before I bought and were at same starting price before discount. They have a ton of decent games left on all platforms. They are keeping all new releases and decent games behind the counter and no one seems to know they are there. I am just getting what I want and hoping no one else knows to look there. Lady there yesterday told me If I buy all games of one system they would give me an extra 10% off. Not ready to commit to that yet but might take them up on the 360 games. Just an FYI

hey i got the DS for 91 bucks too :) I know that store I bought it from is hording there PSP units in the back because there is a shit load of stuff for it lying around the store. I've heard stuff like this happened before. Since there manager quit last monday they can do whatever they want.
 
Went to my Suncoast and SG this weekend. I can see why noone shops there. SC was still more expensive than most other stores even after the 30% off. SG just didn't have anything worth buying.

Just went to Sam Goody's today at Lakewood, it was still 30 percent off but for some reason World of Warcraft rang up at 26.24 before tax. No complaints there. BTW as the previous poster has mentioned, they still had a bunch of games behind the cash register. I saw lot of great titles such as God of War, Shadow of the colossus, Resident evil 4, etc. I guess once it hits 40 percent i'll purchase a couple ps2 games.

Sorry to tell you this Medium_Pimpin but Musicland during the closing of Media Play and also during these closing will increase the percentage on Wednesdays not on a Monday.
 
I picked up an XBox Live 3 month kit for about $25. Do they have some sort of deal with Sony? They had no games for any systems aside from PS2 and PSP. I was baffled about the lonely Live box when they had shelves and shelves of UMD discs and half a shelf each of PS2 and PSP.

These prices are awful. I'm heading back at 40% to see if a couple of games I noticed are still there, but otherwise, there's no way I'm spending money on a 29.99 DVD, even at 40-50% off. I know alot of you hate Best Buy, but they spoiled me with their DVD prices.
 
My sam goody is funny, they priced NFL 2K3 and NCAA 2003 for 49.99 each.

NFL 2k3 did not even retail at 49.99 when it came out back in the day.

I got a Simpsons 3-Pack DVD (XMAS vol. 1 & 2 & Gone Wild) for like 9$...not a bad deal.
Oh...and those cool stoner puppetized Rudolph & Santa movies are like 2-3$

My sam goody has TONS of Games left......alot of recent ones too....just waiting for that 40% off to kickin.
 
I got some good deals from here. I got Zone of the Enders: the 2nd runner for $16, Killer 7 (GC) for $14, and Shin Megami Tensei: DDS 2 for $35.

While I agree FYE has nasty normal prices, they're rebate deals and trade in values are great. They recently had a bunch of 2 disc warner special editions for $5 after rebate, and the new releases are always 12.99 after rebate.
 
Seattle - Westlake Mall Sam Goody now has DVDs for 40% off when you buy 4 or more.

Everything else is still 30% off. The worker had no clue when that would change.

Actually Kmart and TRU will be fine. Kmart and Sears are now together, and they should be able to hold over any financial storm....and TRU, although closing a ton of stores, they are find because of their burgeoning Babies R Us and the sale of many of their land properties. TRU was sitting on gold mines across the nation, and their commercial value was more than the operating profits of a TRU. So both Kmart and TRU should be fine.

I'd worry about the shell game that Best Buy is running. They are bound for a Lechmere-type ending. Their financials are just a mess, and the executives and majority shareholders are laughing all the way to the bank....until the bottom drops out, but by then, they'll have all taken cover.

I pulled the trigger on Shining Force Neo for $34.99. I probably should've waited a little more but with a game like that, you never know when a horder will buy all the remaining copies at once.
 
You can take the La Crosse, WI store off of the list (the last one listed). I went there yesterday to check things out, and they've already closed the store and cleared the place out. Kinda sucks, I was hoping to pick up a game or two and a couple CDs.
 
I stopped by the local one yesterday just to see what was there. Had a lot of PSP movies, dvds, and cd's. The Xbox/PS2/DS/GBA software selections were already sparse. I will probably go in Monday to see if the 40% drop happens they still had quite a few dvd box sets I wouldn't mind getting.
 
I might get one or two games at 40% off... the Sam Goody I had checked still had tons upon tons of ps2 / xbox games... even some PC games thrown in there.

I would probably get Castlevania: Curse of Darkness at 40% off of $39.99.

Nevermind... didn't realize Sam Goody dosen't update the MSRP, and Castlevania: Curse of Darkness is still $49.99... not much of a deal, even with the 40% off.

I'm still patiently waiting for 40% so I can pick up I-Ninja (about $5) and Kirby DS (20-25) after discount. Not sure if I should wait until 50% for some DVD sets at risk of them disappearing before I get there.

they still have A LOT OF xbox360 accessories...they somehow found more stocks I think ( i was there last week and they didn't have that much)

Scored the last copy of Resident Evil: Code Veronica X for Gamecube at the Capitola, CA store. It was marked $40, and I wondered why it didn't have shrinkwrap on it, so I asked the girl working there to check the price and she said it was only $10.71 if I remember right. Said it was their last copy and it hadn't been played they just opened it for a display box and the discs were in the safe.

Sure enough I picked it up and it was in mint condition. :) I'd still like to get the Prince of Persia: TTT (PS2) I saw at the store, but I'm hoping I'll get a chance at it when it's at 40% or more.

Also if anyone is in the area, they had a couple 360 games in a small rack above their Xbox games. They had 1-2 copies of Perfect Dark Zero, a couple copies of Madden, 1 copy of PGR and a couple Tiger Woods.
 
I picked up a few things on saturday.Brought Castle Shikigami 2/Tekken tag 2-pack for6.91,Viewtful Joe(GC) for 8.99,and Capcom Classics Collection for 13.99.They had a WaveBird for 24.99 but I passed on it.Going back on wednesday to pick some more stuff up
