WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN. DO YOU THINK WE LOOK LIKE MARIO AND LUIGI.
I mean that I recognize all you guys from the PSN thread. Looks like the same crew. I sure hope Jay and Captain have a 3DS!

So am I right in understanding that I just missed a few weeks of good deals on some old classics like Zelda, Mario, MegaMan, and DK?

Yep, though they were mostly good in the sense that most of those titles hadn't been on sale previously.

I know Jay has a 3DS but I don't see him post a lot here as in the PSN thread.

You missed out on some great sales on the characters. The only games I passed on were the Mega Man since I own them on my Vita. The 3DS is a great handheld.

Tyler welcome to the thread.
I think if you guys are gonna get Phoenix, you should just support it and buy it to show Capcom Americans like it, or we'll never get one again. THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS. *throws wicker furniture and kicks a plastic cereal bowl*

It's probably not going to go on sale anyway. It's already $10 cheaper than it would have been if they'd had a physical release. What do you people want from me! Just pretend it's a retail game with a $10 discount that will probably never get any more discounts.
I'd support it at $20...Lol. I'm a CAG to the fullest, and almost never pay full price and almost always buy used.

Since I have the funds, I probably will pick it up. But if it goes on sale next month, I'm blaming you!

Forgot about the constant Monster Hunter sales, though that Mega Man sale was more of a Nintendo thing.
I wish the Wii U one would go on sale again! And then they'll release MH4 the next week and I'll be annoyed.

They weren't that great, in my opinion. Better than nothing, of course, but pretty meager discounts. Yeah, welcome to the thread tho!

Fair enough! I don't think it will, but you can blame me if it does. And I will just cackle anyway and feel arrogant that I helped to pave the way for more goofy Japanese games. :)

Well I finally paid for the 32GB SD card I ordered on BF since my 8GB is almost full and these eShop games will just about finish off the free space.  Is it me or is the 3DS XL still lacking in case options?

So am I right in understanding that I just missed a few weeks of good deals on some old classics like Zelda, Mario, MegaMan, and DK?
I'd say the real deal you literally just missed out on (ended yesterday/Saturday) was Best Buy offering eShop cards at 20% off all last week. :oldman:

Most of the weekly character sale stuff was $4.99 marked down to $3.49, nothing that great. You also missed Club Nintendo offering Metroid and Dillon's Rolling Western for points. Currently it's Mario's Picross and some archaic-looking tower defense game.

First time checking this thread. Never used the eshop before. I am waiting to get a screen protector and case before I play my XL.
Can you make a screen name like you can on PSN/Xbox live?

OK, after reading everyone's comments on Crimson Shroud, I purchased it...so total of four Guild Games and Crazy Construction....

You have your Screen Name on your Mii for StreetPass. But the codes you give out are numeric.

Best Final Fantasy game on the 3DS, Go!

I'm sitting on $60 worth of credit and can't push myself into buying anything. I want that Paul game but I kind of lost interest after the second one. May just grab some suggestions from here just to spend credit.

This is the case I use on my XL at all times:

http://www.amazon.com/DreamGEAR-Nintendo-3DS-XL-Comfort-Grip/dp/B008XHCLFO/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1387177516&sr=8-4&keywords=3ds+xl+case

It's hands down the most comfortable case I've used on any portable device and (for me at least) makes the XL more comfortable to hold in the hand. The bottom rubber grip areas feel like a controller and make a huge difference in my opinion. Ever since I've been using this case my XL feels like a console rather than a portable.

The rubberized padding also makes the XL relatively drop proof and the bottom rubber grips allow the XL to sit at a raised height on tables/etc.

The only problem with this case is that you are probably not going to be carrying the XL in your pocket with it on.  But I'd rather put my XL in a backpack when I travel anyways so this isn't an issue for me.

yeah it let me when I went to buy attack of the friday monster. Are any of the other Guild 01 games worth it?
Regarding the Guild01/02 games on the list, IMHO Attack of the Friday Monster followed closely by Liberation Maiden are the best (bought both at $7.99/ea... at $4.99 these are must-haves). AOTFM has a great storyline integrated with a card-battle system (graphics are great, game-play is good, storeline is awesome... wished it was longer). Liberation Maiden is an action-packed shoot-em-up stylus-tapping game (graphics are awesome, game play is great, storyline is alright... wished it was longer though).

If you're into D&D and dice-rolling games, Crimson Shroud is said to be very good and is a steal at $4.99... I'm thinking about getting it even though I've never played this type of game before.

If you're into suspense/horror/mystery games, The Starship Damrey looks intersting (although reviews are a bit mixed and I don't know if replayability will be that good). At $4.99 it's tempting, but I'm thinking twice (especially since I'm not typically a fan of this type of game).

This. Big time. I don't know what my options are when I travel and want to bring my entire DS/3DS library.

I do not have this one. I may want this one, though. I'm not sure how many games you would like to to bring, but you can leave 1 game in the system and maybe be able to stick 2 cards in per slot. I mean, that's 7 games. I don't know how long you are away when you travel and how often you do. If I was taking a long trip, I think 6-7 games would be sufficient.

EDIT: I found this. This.. seems really cool.

man. this post is making me consider the two games now

I've sat down for a couple hour-plus sessions of Starship Damrey. I really like it. It reminds me of some of the early first-person PSone games like Space Griffon VF-9 (a favorite), but more adventure-centric. I got to the credits, but looks like I'll have to do a bit of work to get the "true" ending. Not 9-9-9 level work, but grabbing a couple of the 20 "things" hidden throughout the ship. I know where one is, though I looked in the room and couldn't find it.

We'll see if there's more to the game after that. Even if there isn't, I think it was $5 (or $4 with the Best Buy e-shop card discount applied) well spent.

I bought the elite transporter case from Sears for $15. It's a square messenger bag, but it will easily fit into a backpack with no added bulk. It has a spot for a 3ds or 3ds xl, plus accessories. It also has an entire compartment dedicated for 40 ds/3ds games.

It's definitely a ymmv on the location since it's a discontinued product, but if you can find one, I highly recommend it!

I bought this case in black:

http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=8829011&style=games

It's really sturdy and well made and I can fit the 3DS XL perfectly, 8 games (plus one inside the system) and two extra styluses. There's some extra space on top that I put my headphone. I've tried to put the adapter inside but it does leave the case with a "bulge" on top, so I removed so it would not damage the case (and even then I had to remove a few games as well so it'd fit).

I think you'll like Damrey. I normally hate "that genre" myself, but I think it's actually more of an adventure game than anything else.

You're making me think about Liberation Maiden, though. I just can't picture myself enjoying flying around whapping my stylus on the screen like a tiny excited penis.

Bravely Default.
This is the correct answer; not only is Bravely Default the best "Final Fantasy" since I don't know when, it seems like actual Final Fantasy has gone down an entirely different path, never to return. Thanks, Tetsuya Nomura.

I want to be excited for bravely default but I don't like the art.
Why do you care? That's like saying you'd be excited for sex but you don't like the wallpaper.

I sort of get what you mean, though. A lot of the DS RPGs (for instance, Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light), despite having great art direciton, or soooo ugly. They're worse than the old "3D" PSP RPGs and really make me miss 2D. Thankfully the 3DS can certainly do a better job since everyone insists on 3D.

I don't use a screen protector or case.  Am I doing things wrong?  I haven't had any issues.  I just keep it in my pocket.  It's a sturdy little system.

I had one of those "armor" things, thin green plastic that you snap onto the 3DS.  It was really cool, but it added a little thickness, it was uncomfy, and I missed my naked 3DS.  So that was that.  I have a green padded thing that I never use, but if I were packing it in a backpack or suitcase, I'd use that.  I also have one of the Hori (Horii?) plastic things to hold game cards, but whenever I've taken it anywhere with me, with 100s of dollars of cards worth in it, I haven't used any anyway.  I've got what I want to play (generally) on my SD card, and then I keep whatever DS game I'm playing (or not playing) in the card slot.

Actually it would be more akin to someone being excited for sex if it weren't for their partner being unnactractive. The difference being you can close your eyes and still have sex, whereas the game requires you to acknoweledge it visually at all times. His qualm makes sense to me.

I'm with you on that one. Screen protectors seemed to make the DS touch controls less responsive. I've had my old DS Lite for about 5 years w/o a screen protector and haven't had any issues with scratches (fingers prints are a different story). The classhell design of the system does an excellent job of protecting the screen & controls without the need for any extra gear.

I've never used any armor case or screen protector for any of my Nintendo handhelds. I am usually careful and always keep a microfiber cloth handy.

I do, however, have the DS/3DS Pull and Go Folio Case which is awesome as it holds 27 DS/3DS games plus another two in the attached system holder that acts as separate case. I would love to know if they have just folio cases for the games themselves because I'm starting to rebuild a hefty DS collection while beefing up my 3DS collection as well.

It's like there being an awesome sale somewhere, but you won't partake because you don't like the web site design or store decor.

I have the same exact case, minus the pouch for the AR cards and New Super Mario Bros. 2 branding. Instead of that pouch for the cards, there are two more rows of three pouches each for six more games. Really versatile case and I love it.

Sale! Pffffffffffffffffffff. It will be a day one purchase for us all so we can have the sequel too.
I think they announced we're getting the sequel for sure but I might be remembering wrong. Either way it's one of those things worth supporting so Nintendo continues to take "risks".

Yeah, I hope it paves the way for Dragon Quest and the other billion RPGs on 3DS we've missed. If they're not going to translate them, I wish they'd let Xseed or any of the other small companies do it.

We need Dragon Quest VII to be released here. Man I love that series.
Do your Club Nintendo thingy and tell Nintendo that on ALL your surveys.

We also need Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland and DQM2, not to mention Rocket Slime 3.

Not too enthused about DQX, but what the hell, bring that over too.

Square Enix keeps trying to sell us Western games. Even the good ones don't seem to sell. Come on. You guys used to be Square Soft and Enix, two of the most amazing companies in the world making the most amazing Japanese games. Why does everyone think they need to be Rockstar all of a sudden? Just make your damn good little RPGs, sell them to us, keep the budget down, and be satisfied.

There. I just solved everything with one little message board post!

Just made my first purchases from the eshop for Crimson Shroud and Crazy Construction.  I really wish I had grabbed the 20% discount cards, but didn't plan to actually buy any of these from the shop.

Just checked the Wii U eShop.  Apparently, they're having a 2 day 2 dollar 2 games thread 2day, LOL!

Today and Tomorrow, 2 games will be on sale for 2 dollars each.  Today, its Mega Man X on Wii U for 2 bucks, and Mega Man Dr Wily's Revenge or whatever on 3DS for 2 bucks.

I don't know if these two will be on sale tomorrow, or if 2 different games will take their place.

2 Bucks for Mega Man X!  Tell your friends!

Man why can't we get Megaman X on the 3DS? I don't like how nintendo splits up VC games

What I'm mad about is the fact that I've already picked up Mega Man X. 2 bucks? That's pretty much stealing it from them. I'm hoping that the 2 Final Fight games are on sale tomorrow, I don't already have those.

Well poop. I've had Mega Man X for ages on Wii and just paid $1.50 to have it on Wii U.

Also, Mega Man Dr. Wily's Revenge is terrible.

Well, it would be the first SNES game on the 3DS, but yeah...

What annoys me is when games are on both, such as the recently-released Double Dragon, but you have to buy it twice if you want it on both systems.
