arc style soccer3d
swords & soldiers 3d
Sweet memories black jack
project x zone
ikachan
cave story

Great sale!  I was finally able to get Nightsky and Cave Story.  Thinking about a bunch more too.

I played the demo of Witch & Hero and got strangely addicted to it....had to buy the game at full price!  Yes, its simple but there is something strangely alluring about it.  To me anyways.  I'm stuck on the final boss though, for now.

Bought a ton of these!  Ikachan, Mutant Mudds, NightSky, Bomb Monkey, a couple others I can't remember.  Comes hot off the heels of buying the 3 Guild 2 titles and a few other discounted titles, in addition to the regularly priced River City Ransom, Crash n the Boys, and Double Dragon, and NES Remix on the Wii U.  Was wondering what I would use all that sweet sweet eShop currency on, LOL!

Excluding mutant mudds and vvvvvv, list up to five great games here...7.5/10 and up....go
Well Nicalis almost has 5 by themselves Cave Story, Night Sky and Ikachan. Sword and Soldiers was good on the Wii/PSN, didn't even know there was a 3DS version. Art of Balance demo was good still not sure about the price seems like the Wii version would be the one to own. Bomb Monkey is made by Renegade Kid (Mutant Mudds) so it's probably well worth the price.

Tempted to buy vvvvvv again. I got it on the pc during that eBay auction, rolled the dice at $7000. Anyone know who won that game of chicken here?

Damn, I have no idea about most of these games. If I wanted to get 2 or 3 what would everyone suggest? Nightsky looks like a good one. Also, any ideas of which games might be good for an 11 year-old? I might want to buy a couple for my son's 3DS as a Christmas surprise.

In for Cave Story & Crimson Shroud! Cave Story starts quickly and looks to be gunstar heroes-ey with light rpg elements... so I'm relieved! Crimson Shroud starts off slow... and looks to be that way... still fun... but patience, grasshopper. Overall happy! Thanks for the head's up OP!!!

These sales are great. I just picked up Cave Story and VVVVVV.

I'm considering Mutant Mudds but I may want the cross buy Vita/PS3 version instead. Can't decide.

Has anyone played Mutant Mudds on Vita and 3DS? Which one do you think is better?

In for witch and hero to start.... it looks strangely amusing to me.  Good sales so far, too bad I bought liberation maiden and crimson shroud before the sales though.  Will learn to wait from now on.  Happy holidays everyone!

I liked Starship Damrey, an adventure game with a Dead Space like atmosphere.
Mighty Mudds is a great platformer, and VVVVVV has a retro vibe with a gravity gimmick. The latter two make use of 3D.

thought the same about the trailer for witch and hero. Gonna try the demo soon.

Bought Nightsky. Arc Soccer game: it looks crappy, but has many great reviews. Ikachan seems like it would be good, but has a few mediocre reviews. Anyone have experience with those two?

I haven't had the chance to play it on Vita, but I can tell you that Mutant Mudds makes the best use of the 3D effect I've seen on the 3DS with its multiple fields of play.

I'm debating this as well, but like @thrinn said the 3D combined with the fore/background play in Mutant Mudds is awesome. There's a demo on the eshop. Cross buy on PSN is enticing, though.

Definitely getting Cave Story! :whee:

i'm a little confused, are there two versions of cave story for 3ds? that look completely different?
There used to be three. DSiWare, 3DS eShop, and 3DS retail. The eShop version is the original game that I believe is on par with the upgraded WiiWare version. The retail version offered a new 3D art style that rubbed fans the wrong way, which was compounded with the $40 price tag to make for an unpopular version of the game. The retail version isn't available on the eShop, so the eShop version is the version to get since it's on par with the WiiWare and Steam versions.

Playing the Wii U version, all they do is add depth of field blurring when you switch planes that looks about as good as the 3D effect did. It was definitely a good 3D moment the first few times, but it's not really good enough to be the sole reason to buy it on 3DS.

I think I'll pick up Liberation Maiden, have had my eye on that for awhile. It's so nice to finally see Nintendo doing digital sales like this for 3DS & Wii U.

I played the Project X Zone demo before purchasing it and was pleased to see that it indeed did have the same battle system as Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier. You basically pick attacks to use on the enemy, which causes them to get juggled into the air and you pick new attacks or your assist options to try to keep it going. The one weird thing is that it seemed like they changed one aspect of the battle system so that the enemy can hit the ground while you pick another attack, as SRTOGSEF was more focused on keeping the juggle combo going as long as possible.

This may be just the way the demo is set up, but it doesn't seem like they have the big overworld that you explore to get around and run into random battles constantly. Instead, you run into set encounters on an SRPG-style grid where you move party members around to get closer to enemies to start attacking them. That seems like it'll solve the tedious random encounter issue that other game had. The one issue I think I'll have is that the demo was sometimes overly wordy like the Super Robot Taisen game.

The thing that seems to be potentially great is that the game is as full of fan service as any game can be. Though I didn't recognize everybody that was in this fight, I did see Kite and friends from Skies of Arcadia, some people from Valkyria Chronicles that weren't the two main people from the first game, Ulala from Space Channel 5 as an assist character along with some of the aliens from those games, and I believe the game has a database to catalog all of the people you meet just in case you don't recognize them. I'm looking forward to starting this up and seeing how it unfolds.

I played the demo again last night and it was a lot more enjoyable than the first time I played it before the game came out.  Embracing Project X Zone for the ridiculous, shallow nonsense that it is definitely helped.  Probably getting a physical copy still but I think I'll probably get enough wacky enjoyment out of it despite not knowing 99% of the characters.  I'll have to find an online guide to the mechanics though since trying to read the in game guide stuff I found entirely unbearable.

I don't know how it happened, but I read two reviews of Cave Story and still have no idea what kind of game it even is.

I've been loving what I've played for the first hour or so.

It's similar to Super Metroid with the platforming, firing weapons, hidden upgrades and unlockable paths.

Good music too.

LOL, I'm too tired to write up a decent description right now but I can assure you, above all, it is a good game. Excellent story, music and gameplay. Nice level exploration. Tight controls. It's a nod to old school games (Metroid is what mostly comes to mind), so if you even remotely enjoy stuff like that you'll love it.

There ya go, should be the same version. Even though I have it on PC I think I'm going to get it while it's on sale because it seems a much better fit for the 3DS.

Only few games catch my attention ;)

Bomb Monkey - $2.49 - 50% Off - Ends 1/2 - New

Cave Story - $6.99 - 30% Off - Ends 1/3 - New

Ikachan - $2.99 - 40% Off - Ends 1/3 - New

Liberation Maiden - $4.99 - 38% Off - Ends 1/2

Monster Shooter - $4.00 - 43% Off - Permanent Price Drop

Mutant Mudds  - $4.49 - 50% Off - Ends 1/2 - New

Witch and Hero - $2.79 - 30% Off - Ends 1/8 - New

Played the Witch and Hero demo last night and that right there is the definition of a grindy game.  Took me at least an hour, maybe two, to beat the extensive demo so I think I'm pretty satisfied with that and won't sink who knows how much more time into the full game.  Still think they should have put it at $2 instead of $3 and it would be an easier impulse purchase.

Bought a 32GB Sandisk card from Amazon. It'll be here Tuesday. Jumping from 2GB to 32 - I can't imagine I will ever need more space.
I wonder when ill run out. I have a 32gb card with 60,000 blocks left. Retail games can be up to 10 000 blocks and will only get bigger. I'll probably run out in a year or two

Yeah, I have a 32GB with 30,000 blocks left. :( I wish they had built-in support for higher GB cards without having to format it a certain way and trick the hardware. I've heard it can lead to losing data. So, unless there's some way to work around that, I'll just have to delete stuff when I'm not playing it. Not a big deal, but when SD memory is as cheap as it is, I could just have everything on there, all the time.

I'm just grateful the memory situation the 3DS has is way more flexible than the Vita's. I still believe the proprietary memory card that the Vita has is one of the main reasons it doesn't sell well. I will never understand why Sony doesn't get with the times and just adapt the SD memory card as it is the industry standard.

I won't ever get close to using 32GB.

Even if I did, I wouldn't need that many games, demos, pictures, etc on my console at the same time.

It's not an issue for the 3DS imo.

The main ones i want to try to get are attack of the tokyo monsters, tanks vs bugs, and ikachan even though i have the free PC version for 1.99 why not right?

How is arc style soccer. The dearth of sports games on the 3ds has me considering it.
