Assuming that the 50% is actually coming off the current used priced, Prey for $5 is a steal.
Yeah I am tempted by Prey for 5 as well. I always am slightly tempted to buy it when I go in the gamestop since the used price is already pretty cheap.

Yeah, for $10, it's already a good deal, one that I have almost taken them up on a number of times. If it really does drops to $5 in the next week, I will pick it up when I go get Madden.
Gamestop is the worst store
Did you register just to bitch and moan? Sure Gamestop has some crap policies but they do have some great deals every once in a while that many other stores can't or won't rival

Edit: I also think that any one who hasn't played Prey to get it. You might even get lucky and find a collectors edition (same price as normal)

 Some? Try MOST. Their TIV's are shit, the stuff they take in is shit, the stuff they sell(some of it anyway) is shit. Need I go on? Most CAGs simply tolerate the company, while a few may exploit their RARE deals to suit their purposes. I'm all for exploiting loopholes and other stuff that makes US money and keeps Gamestop from making another billion dollars.

But quite frankly, until they come up with a method to let us know if we're getting complete and minty games from their site or store BEFORE we waste our time/gas going there, I'll keep holding off on buying most of my stuff from them. I'll buy the sporadic 1-2 games every couple years that I DO buy from them and that's about it, but until they actually go through with a policy like FYE has(where they don't take scratched up and incomplete shit in), I'll continue to shun them as a company.
Why does every GS topic have to turn into this? Yes, GameStop is the devil. We get it. Can't we just talk about the sale? Is that possible?
Yea,

They are not all bad, I just got $75 credit for SSBB and Mario Galaxy, and I didn't even pay that much for them, and beat MG a long time ago.

I guess they are trying to make room in their clearance bin for all of our Manhunt 2, Golden Compass, Iridium Runner and Power Ranger games.

Damnit, I just bought Full Spectrum Warrior for $3!
Oh well. That'll teach me to jump on games too soon after release.

Go back and demand your $1.50

For the original Xbox stuff, are these going to count as price drops or as a promo?
Wondering if it will stack up along with the current B2G1 going on for Xbox.

Maybe with some creative stacking we could whittle them down below the $.10 they offer for trade in value? REVENGE!!

This is the official "get this shit outta our stores" sale. Pretty soon they'll be having a B1G4 free sale on the original XBox and Gamecube games.

Yegads, just noticed that this puts Prey at $5 and The Club at $15, if they stay at the same used value (they should).

Thats pretty sweet if you ask me. I haven't played The Club but Prey is a very solid game, imho.

Oh wow. Mostly crap buuuut, tempted to grab Robotech, Manhunt and Castlevania. Would grab Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution if I didn't already have it.

Thanks for the heads up, OP.

I may have to pick up Prey again. I finished it. Loved it. Probably would enjoy playing through it again.

Although some may call this blasphemy, I think the single player was more enjoyable than Gears of War.
I might pick up THe Hobbit. Never played it and depending how cheap it is then i might.
The Hobbit is good, by the way. Nothing awe-inspiring, but well-designed, with no major flaws. For $2.50, I highly recommend it.

Alright, I got the prices from gamestop.com (regular prices, copy-pasted). I skipped most of the sports games.

I agree with everything here, except the parts about shunning them and TiVs.

I found that FYE/SecondSpin's TiVs leave much to be desired - especially for older systems. If anything, you can argue that while GS TiV are poor, FYE's are not much better.

Here is a partial list (XBOX and GC):

"won't take" means that FYE will not accept them for trade . Essentially $0.00.

Wait, KOTOR2 gets six bucks @ GS? Hmm maybe I should trade mine in with the Madden coupon. I've come to the realization that I'm never going to play it anyway. Might as well trade it in....

ON TOPIC: I am seriously gonna burn 4 bucks in credit on the Burger King games. They ought to be fun for an hour and a half.:bouncy:

Advent Rising was an awesome game. It had one major camera-lock-on bug near the end, but besides that I loved it. Cool story, cool (last-gen) graphics, and fun as heck. All my friends played it too and agreed it was great overall. Too bad it was a flop in sales and highly criticized. It is a trilogy in the making. For $2.50, you can't go wrong (except it is not BC). I feel like I want to play it again. :)

DO NOT GET SNEAK KING! Even if it was free never play it. My eyes still haven't recovered from it

But, what are the selling prices for those games that are not able to be traded in at FYE/SS? Moreover, what are the selling prices for those games which get the higher trade values @ Gamestop? I can tell you right now that because Gamestop gouges and 'Ebay prices' games like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2(among others), that that is why they get the higher TIV's @ GS.

As far as TIV's go though, if anything gets below $3-4 in trade value, I won't even bother trading it in. This may be different with some people, but then again I've never liked the idea of getting next to nothing for my games.

So, while there are some which are higher @ Gamestop versus FYE, I'd still rather FYE since they won't take in the shit condition stuff.

Agreed. I would buy from FYE if I could for all the reasons you state.

However, I was only focusing on the view that GS/EB had mediocre TiV compared to other stores. Whether GS/EB jacks up the resell (MvC2 XBOX $60 @ GS, $40 @ FYE) or not (Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance II XBOX $30 @ both stores) puts the onus on the buyer, not the seller.
