As of right now Amazon still has many of those deals.

I would wager that you are dead wrong.

Lots of people watch action movies. Why? Violence. Blood often comes along with that.

Same thing applies to action-based anime, along with action-based video games. Do you really think the majority of people on a board like this have some aversion to violence? Do you think Gears of War or Grand Theft Auto would have sold as many copies as they did if people did not like violence and blood?

Those who don't like violence and blood (at least on this board) are absolutely, with a doubt, in the tiny, tiny minority.

And really, why would you call it "crap?" You may not like it, but that does not mean it's crap.

On a different note, your name includes the words "death" and "scythe." You sound like the type of person who would love violence and blood.

I like violence , action and blood , but there is a point that it becomes too much and the thing in question (whether it be movie , game whatever) becomes more about the violence and less about the entertainment. I would say the SAW movies and Manhunt are prime examples of this.

Personally , based on reviews and comments I've heard about Elfen Lied , I probably wouldn't like the show either due to it's so called violence quotient , but I might end up renting it from netflix because , ironically enough , its recommended to me from them. I'm williing to give a show or game a chance most of the time , even if I think I'm not gonna like it.

Edit: To Rollett , it may be a topic about deals , but it's also discussion pertaining to whether deals on said shows might actually in fact be deals.

Bit on Fullmetal season 2 part 2, since Amazon matched the price. I have the individual dvds through vol. 7, which I nabbed from Columbia House, so now all I need is season 2 part 1 and I'll have it all. Good stuff. :)

I agree with this, I really liked Elfen Lied, but I'd really say that the violence, blood and even nudity were all completely over the top and could have been toned down by at least 50% and it would have still gotten the point across.
And really, why would you call it "crap?" You may not like it, but that does not mean it's crap.
Oh, trust me, Elfen Lied is crap. Not because of the blood and violence (though that's usually a good indicator that an anime is garbage, with a few exceptions), but because of its insipidly stupid characters and shallow, meandering plot that ultimately can't decide what type of show it wants to be. And as we all know, including blood and guts in even the most terrible shows will ensure that they sell to *somebody*.
Not everyone is into that kind of crap. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the majority aren't.
The ticket sales of the movie "300" do not support your argument. ;)

I agree as well. I liked Elfen Lied when I saw it with a friend, but I'm still trying to decide if I want to buy the set.

Would it be wrong of me to mention that for those of you that may have wanted to pick up robotech from BB but forgot before the sale ended , that The Right Stuff has it on sale this week for around $70? I know $70 isn't as good a deal as $40 but it's still cheaper than it's usual $130 price. I only bring this up since it's one of the few titles that amazon didn't price match from BB.
Oh, trust me, Elfen Lied is crap. MAN...and i thought we'd seen the last of Kirin Lemon. Crap. I mineaswell put my two cents in here..first off, pardon my assumption in stating this but I think Kirin is a closed-minded under-rating over-analyzing SOB. Elfen lied was/is DIFFERENT. Nudity fits well in the storyline w/the characters...and when you say "stupid"...i believe you mean "highly emotional and f'in psychologically disturbed" and for damn good reasons too...I would highly recommend viewing Elfen Lied...it's not for everyone. But i WILL tell you the honest to God truth here...I introduced it to maybe 10 of my friends. More than half of them found it repulsive and terrible within the first 15 mins...but ya know what?! a week later they came back to me asking/BEGGING to borrow the first volume and subsequent vols after that. I agree, Elfen Lied isn't for everyone...but I just think Kirin is not the most reliable or credible source of reviews for a decent amount of good mainstream and even non-mainstream animes...i personally feel if you can handle the blood and NON-POINTLESS nudity (that overall contributes to the dramatic effect of the characters and storyline) then watch the first 4 episodes. If by the 4th episode you aren't hooked...give up on the series and go watch something else. But thats my general rule of thumb...give something 4 episodes and USUALLY (there are indeed exceptions) it will tell you if the series is going to be good or not from that point on.

WOW...sure hope that wasn't TOO much off topic o_O

Sorry to disappoint you.

Anyways, not agreeing with me is fine and all, but was the personal attack necessary? You're welcome to your view, and I would like to presume that I am welcome to mine. And it's not that I'm over-analyzing the show, either... I just really, *really* didn't like it for the reasons I mentioned - totally legitimate complaints!

Also - I wuv yoo! Let's be friends!

Man, you guys really got me wondering about this Elfen Lied now. I'm a huge anime fan that's just been way too busy (and poor) lately to go out and buy all the new series so I'm stuck about 5-7 years behind in my collection. I never even heard of this series now (embarassed to admit) but now you have all piqued my interest.

I'm the first to admit I'm not a big fan of gore (as in overly bloody/violent movie scenes, not the ex-vice President), but there are times where it fits into certain movies/genres for sure. I'm not saying that I'm overly squeamish about these things (well I am, but that's not my point here), but for that price I think I'd be insane not to at least consider picking it up. I love how CAG always ends up with me spending all this money I don't have in order to "save money" haha. God bless you Cheapy D =P

Okay, pretty much if you're wondering about an anime, watch it yourself. Everyone has their own opinion and theres always someone who is going to be blindly negative (kind of like a 360 fanboy talking about the PS3). Theres actually people who like Gundam, that right there can show you that people can like terrible shows.
I'm seeing NGE:pC at $66.99

Is that the deal price?

gonna buy E.L and Noein probably

thanks OP
Evangelion was about half that but the price was raised in the couple hours before your post.

that was so a cheap shot. i can say the same with full metal alchemist. but if your talking about Gundam Seed and Gundam Wing then thats a different stoy:roll:
perhaps my words were a bit harsh this morning...i apologize Kirin (And no...not because i got warned by admins here)...got a little carried away cuz i LOVEEEE me some EL! So this is my official written/typed apology to you for everyone to see. And i will at least voice one complaint about EL...THERE NEEDS TO BE A SECOND SEASON!

wuv...a bit too much...friendz...indeed :)
Haha, thanks, I guess. Hope you didn't actually get warned, though! I'm really not the ogre that I might sometimes come off as when ripping into an anime I don't care for - actually, I'm quite the softie! Just remember, my criticism of a show should not also be interpreted as a criticism of those who like the show (unless explicitly stated, you damn Black Lagoon fans).

And god, please, no more Elfen Lied. ;)
that was so a cheap shot. if your talking about Gundam Seed and Gundam Wing then thats a different stoy:roll:
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing is AMAZINGLY AWFUL THOUGH! I practically grew up with DBZ and GW! And just because of the nostalgic value of GW and DBZ i had to go out and buy the entire set...no matter how awful the characters are (i especially remember one scene where they're looking at a computer screen and it's a user manual for Adobe Photoshop hahaha)

and damn...another off topic post for me...i need to stop o_O

same here. eventhough it was awful, it rly introduced me to anime, thus has a lil value to me. Gundam Seed on the other hand...

back to topic so mods wont get piss: yay amazon sale...woo hoo!

Wow, I'm not that big of a fan of Evangelion (hell I like the romantic-comedy spinoffs more) but that price looks so tempting. Elfen Lied was great but I'm not sure I want to put money on it.
