Amazon - Catherine "Love is Over" Deluxe Ed. (PS3/360) - $45.94 (Dead) /$29.59 (DEAD)

I bought it for the original cover art... dont like the zoomed in one that best buy has it for, and I dont see buy.com or gamestop dropping the price on the deluxe version any time soon. Now that I've jinxed it, I expect the ps3 version to be $30 somewhere else tomorrow.
Do you really think it's because it's BETTER quality? I'm sure there are more market related strategies involved other than a fanboy's opinion of which gaming system is better for this game.
Personally, no. But I'm not disagreeing with you, just thinking (or typing, rather) out loud.
How are you still on the fence about it? It's no longer in stock, so you can't buy it for $30. I'm personally either waiting for gamefly/best buy to have the regular version on sale or for amazon to drop the price on the PS3 deluxe edition.
I bought it last night, but it has not yet shipped so I still have the possibility to cancel. I will probably end up sticking with it cause it does seem like a great price compared to what it has been selling for at other places, not to mention I would feel bad about having wasted a copy that someone else would have wanted.

There are lots of multiplat games where one version is superior to the other.

Final fantasy13 is another perfect example even with audio and video compressed its like freaking 3 discs long on xbox.

That the PS3 version is that much more probably tells me that version is superior and at least in higher demand then the xbox version.

Its the same game from the same company so I can't see market strategy having too much influence.

I mean what's the developers market strategy ? Sony fanboys like rpgs more so charge more then xbox version? lol

Fact of the matter is many times when a game is multiplat there is a superior version.

Id say usually ps3 takes the cake though due to just being more powerful and the format being blu-ray vs a regular old dvd.

360 prices drop more often than PS3 because 360 versions sell more frequently. Its no secret that when a game is on both systems it outsells the PS3 version almost 2 to 1 namely because there's simply more people out there who own 360s. You make more money selling 2000 copies of a $30 game than 1000 copies of a $45 game

You equate price to quality? You're in the wrong place.
Tempted. Does anyone know if this actually includes the artbook/soundtrack? Doesn't say so in the description although the items are in the picture (thought they were originally reserved for pre-orders only). I might just wait for the game-only at $15.
I might be a bit late in answering this question, but yes, the "Love Is Dead" set includes the artbook and soundtrack that also came with the pre-orders for the standard version. Here's the official unboxing video by AtlusUSA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-q540tIratA

A blog writer agrees that marginally, the PS3 is superior for the anime videos... So, yeah, if it matters and you have both systems or you prefer who is on the cover of your game.

But as far as business, you've obviously never taken a business course.
I have no clue about that resource but for the most part when I look at reviews of the game most of the mainstream reviewers say the same thing.

Basically the same thing with final fantasy13

That makes 0 sense. The only point to all of that would be the developer or seller (amazon) is trying to sell more of one version then the other.

I don't think neither party cares which version sells more all they care about is $$$.

Its more likely what I said the PS3 version is in higer demand much like any rpg that is multiplat.

Hey Sherlock....The game came out almost 5 months ago....the publisher's marketing strategy has long since run its course and at this stage, it is a case of recouping capital off excess inventory. The price is lower on the Xbox version because they have more of them sitting around that they want to burn off....it is as simple as that.

Now as to why that is the case....Was Atlus too aggressive with their CE expectations for the 360 or were most 360 owners (unlike Atlus fanboys) not impressed enough with a pair of boxers and pillowcase to say, sure I want to spend $20 extra bucks on that? After all, it isn't like Atlus has a ton of experience selling to the 360 market nor is Catherine a game that is easily described/explained to folks, and thus opting for the CE is not a easy sell

Nicely put, I definitely have to agree with you!

P.S., my copy just shipped!

All you said is why the xbox version is cheaper.

Doesn't take away the fact the PS3 version is superior.

Basically you said exactly what I said in you're 2nd statement. Atlus was too aggressive with the xbox version when the PS3 version was in higer demand.

Which is pretty much common sense. Its a Japanese game its obvious which system it sells more copies for. Just like we know what system the call of duties sell the most on.

I mean word for word you said the xbox owners aren't as likely to pay the extra $20 like the ps3 owners (atlus fanboys) Hence wouldn't that mean then that the PS3 version is in higer demand?

So whether its atlus or the xbox owners you basically said everything proving the PS3 version is in higer demand.

Your sense of logic is clearly fucked. PS3 ROOLZ!

For rpgs like catherine and FF13 etc yeah Id say so, so would most people.

Microsoft=shooters
Sony=rpgs
Nintendo= platforming

You get the newest COD for xbox a game like catherine is better on PS3 if you have the option of which version. Just like FF13 do you want it on one disc and a blu-ray or 3 discs on dvd you pick.
guys stop responding to him
Why? Even the guy I quoted knows the PS3 version is superior. He's the one who posted a link to a review where the reviewer said the PS3 version is better.

Bump because PS3 version is superior.

Now based on price Id go with the xbox version if i had a choice of which version. But if you want to know which is the superior/ better quality its right there.^

There are owners of both consoles here that want an idea of which version is better so I'm not going to pretend like there isn't any differences in each version.

At that price if you have the choice like I said id go with xbox version but if both versions were the same price and you had to choose id go with PS3.

There are still people around who don't own both consoles and still think the console war crap matters? Must just be the kids who have to depend on mommy and daddy to buy them things still, I guess.

Or said person had multiples xbox's rrod and break etc.

Which is still of topic.

I'm talking about which version of catherine is better quality not which console is better. But if you want to go that route then hell yeah PS3. Xbox360 launch console is the most faulty console ever made I think the launch model has like a 50% failure rate. Most of the launch owners either upgraded to the slim version or like me switched to PS3.
FFS, shut up already.

Nobody cares. We've all grown up past fanboy wars. Try to follow along.
Way to contradict yourself. No one cares? Like the 2nd or third post in the first question asked is which version is better you were the first one to answer and say the cheaper one.

Then even that stoic guy who bought the xbox version posted link to a review saying the ps3 version was superior.
Just to verify, deal is dead? Posting from mobile, can't catch up on posts.
Deal is dead for xbox

plenty of copies left for PS3.

This is not factual. Typically PS3 copies have higher resale value because their is more demand. I can buy a PS3 copy of anything and then resell it to anyone anywhere in the world as their is NO region locking.

an NTSC version of a game does not appeal to someone halfway across the world that does not have an NTSC Xbox.

I think it is accepted that more overal units of Xbox 360 consoles have sold but that number is actually smaller if you break it up by region
Argh, I wish the PS3 version was $30!
Me too. Even though the PS3 version is superior it doesn't justify almost $16 dollars more. Its not that much superior. The cut scenes will be a little better because of blu-ray but the price doesn't justify it. If you have the option of getting it for xbox360 the savings is worth it. The price difference is too far off.

When the price is closer to the same and someone has the option of both versions then id say get the ps3 version. Price wins over quality here though. $16 in savings is another cheap game there.
lol @ what this thread has become.

I remember seeing the limited edition contents (pillowcase, t-shirt, boxers) going for $20 - 30 on eBay after the game came out.

Every "Limited" edition is rare until you see them on a Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal for under $20.

While true 9.5 times out of 10, if you really want something, there's no harm in buying it.

I'm glad I didn't wait for ME2 CE to go on sale on black friday.

Agreed, people, and I have done it too, get caught up in the limited edition or uber l337 version thinking only a hundred will be sold and buy one. Like the Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition, went for what, $14 and some change? Started off at what, $150?

You are right for the most part though. Most CE's go way down in price. And some stay the same but never appreciate very much and the rare few inflate to ridiculous prices.
