I believe another contributing factor for series 3 being available as long as it was for preorder is due to the many distractions with the Amiibos line in general. I think many people were focusing their efforts on getting the holy trinity as well the rumored discontinued Fox. Additionally, we had people chasing down the harder series 2 figures of Little Mac, Captain Falcon and Pit which was very time consuming. Finally, with everyone speculating series 3's must have figures were the 4 store exclusives as far as rarity, people were not so obsessed with trying to preorder the "regular" line as they just felt they were all commons compared to the store exclusives. So many people are still struggling to get preorders in for all 4 store exclusives and are hoping that they can get it on release day or that they become available for preorder online again. With series 4, there could be half of the lineup (2 or 3 figures) that is rare like series 2. People want to ensure they reserve them all as you don't know which ones will be rare as it is only speculation as of now.

The current state of amiibo figures. We have a rarity craze and Nintendo is loving it! People are jumping on pre-orders like there is no tomorrow. We should be talking about where to get the best deals. Now, most are just as happy to buy them at MSRP.  The fear of not getting their favorite amiibo figures or the fear of not completing a collection worries most of us. What makes the matter worst is the ongoing pre-order cancellations, so people are placing backup pre-orders from multiple retailers. Think about it, the issue is not just scalpers alone, some are hoarding these figures which doesn't help the shortage situation.

 
I believe all 4 store exclusives for series 3 will be rare in some capacity. I am

talking about half of series 4 like Ness, Lucina and Robin.

totally agree!!!

When i first started i just grabbed what i needed but then when the cancellations started, it became "good luck! Its everyone for themselves" and I started backing up orders. Now I find myself with multiple amiibos so i can use as trade barter to use in case i miss any amiibos(im looking at you rosalina :rofl: )

For people that don't get this joke Rosalina comes with luma so that is two characters, though to be fair duck hunt is technically two as well because of the ... well duck so that's 5 characters missing not 6.

again "said" but nintendo has a history of not always following through and again didnt say in which way it will be reissued. So until a actual reissue finally happen i dont see it dying down much

 
Imagine a Mewtwo Amiibio that would be so cool (Club Nintendo Platinum Award status gift I'd imagine). Knowing Nintendo they'll do some thing like that lol.

Actually, an Amiibo as an elite reward is a great idea. This would insure that only Nintendo fans would get them and not "scalpers". I was pretty disappointed with last years reward being just some games.. I'm really hoping this year is something physical and an Amiibo is more than fitting.

If stores limit these to 1 per person maybe they won't sell out in a day, but if it's 3 per customer like usual then there's no way the rare ones will last more than a day.

I just became platinum and haven't seen anything I'd really want. Expected some games or exclusive merchandise (which they have but nothing that wows me). An exclusive Amiibo would be great. I feel Japan would be the only place for such things.

I agree. I got swept up in the hype of it having 'special bonus items not available anywhere else' but everything ended up being pretty underwhelming. The shirt is pretty cool, I suppose.
I was under the assumption that they'd do a Loot Crate for each Wave with exclusive figures or something but it seems like it was (thankfully) just a one-time deal.

There's a bit of a difference between selling your elite status prize and ordering a bunch of Amiibo's with the intent of selling them off. Maybe not much of a difference, but at least it's put into the hands of a fan of Nintendo and let's them do with it what they will.
 
For some reason, I thought the amiibo crate had all of the first wave including MVT. Nevermind, I take back what I said earlier.

You haven't seen the Club Nintendo point thread, I can't believe some of the lengths some people take to get extra vouchers.

 
I have ordered the Pit amiibo from Amazon.de, but the amiibo arrived broken. It seems like someone has sit on the top of the shipping box. I would like to get an exchange. However, I can't seem to find the option there.

Someone told me that amazon.de will refund the money and let you keep the item. Could you please tell me more details?

I think we are wasting our time. Who the heck is going to update the page's website at 3:00AM? I'm going to bed and I'm certainly not just saying that to provide myself a better chance of preordering these amigos while everyone is asleep.

I seem to remember ordering rosalina at 530am.

But yeah, sleep is paramount. If I didn't work 3rd shift I'd be fast asleep.
 
I have 5 amiibos right now (villigar marth peach pikachu and wii fit trainer) and I literally forgot all about the next few waves. i went ahead and just ordered sonic  megaman  little mac, meta knight and toon link for around 11 bucks each from japan from my proxy. the resell prices in the US are nuts.

I hope Ness comes out today because  i might just forget again for another month.

I live in Vegas and my job is poop so I'm always up late at night.  But just because a website throws a preorder up it doesn't mean someone is sitting there adding pages at that time.  They can add the pages and trigger them to go live at whatever time they want.  That's what happened with the Majora's Mask 3DS XL on Gamestop's site, right at 7AM PST, boom.
