An Incomplete List of the Clearance Games at TRU updated Sept 2

CAGiversary!

While I was watching Attack of the show yesterday on G4 they mentioned that Lumines has gone through the roof in sales (its up to $24.99 on amazon now used to be $9.99) because of the recent [any] firmware break in the psp.

So if this helps anyone, at a local TRU I did see all 3 copies of the Lumines stickered at $9.98 (if you're interested in the game, exploiting the hack, selling for profit...etc)

Whew boy, TRU employees T^T

I called to see if maybe they put out some copies of Phoenix Wright, and I talked to some girl in electronics. She came back and said,
"I didn't see any copies...is that like a Zelda game or something?"
"No...it's a different DS game. A friend of mine picked it up at a different TRU in the $9.98 bin of clearance games, maybe there is a copy there?"
"I didn't see any games by that name."

Gah. Now I'm thinking about going over there to check, since I don't exactly count on retail employees to be helpful.

^she must've thought only zelda games sell nowadays hahaha

she goes back and asks management "Are we sold out of The Legend of Zelda: Phoenix Wright??"

Their response "Just get back to work.."
Used my son's $3 off birthday card.
Aw, poor kid! At least let him play the game a little.

Most stores can check if they have something by UPC/SKU. You can find one of those and ask. I always do that at Staples and the employees are always happy to get off of what they're doing and sit at a computer screen for ten minutes ;)

Its weird other people can't find Phoenix Wright since my TRU literally had stacks of them. They had more Phoenix Wrights in the bin for the games than pretty much every other game combined.

Where are you located!? I remeber seeing Phoenix Wright here before, maybe like 2-4 per store a couple months back, but I couldn't even find one yesterday.

Good idea. I wasn't sure if they took them out of inventory first, since they put a bunch of them near the toys (not sure how TRU inventory checking works). In the end, I couldn't find any PWs. I'll be checking a few more TRU's this weekend for a prayer that I run into a wonderful store like Crazydom's. Mine has a zillion Bust-A-Moves. The True Swing Golf's went quick, I'm glad I got one yesterday.

Geez, my TrU which was fairly well stocked (about as much as I've ever seen there) Sunday was totally.cleared.out of clearance stuff today. I had gone to a different TrU yesterday and got some decent stuff but went back to my 'primary' store and it looked like they were closing down the game section, for as much as was gone.

Sheesh. Must've been horders, or they pulled stock, there was too much gone way too fast. The DS section in particular was a ghost town (and it's 2 full rows of games now, the biggest single section)

Glad I got most of what I wanted, I figured this store was a lock for Tomb Raider Legends DS since they had roughly half a million copies on Sunday.. should've bought for a price match. :(

The West Madison Toys R Us had a bunch of the clearance titles in a separate rack. I picked up Lumines II, Nanostray, and Monster Hunter: Freedom ($8.50, probably an older clearance title).

Thanks, OP, for passing along the deal.

I asked the lady at the counter if they had Puzzle quest for the ds and she told me that they had a case in the back. Five minutes later she walks out with PPL in her hand. :(

I get several of those each year. When I worked at TRU, they were pretty demanding that we get X amount of Birthday Club sign-ups each day. Being a small town, most of our traffic was return business who already signed their kids up. It got to the point we were signing up our pets. We -almost- resorted to rummaging through the Cabbage Patch Kids and using their info, since they come with names and birthdates.

whoo.. represent Madison CAGs .. i picked up Rumble Roses XX ^_^

Though, i think i'll probably stop off there tomorrow looking for Lumines II and Gunpey (PSP) since i didn't notice those in the list earlier. maybe pick up another copy of Rumble Roses XX since, apparently, you can trade that in for $30 at Gamecrazy.

The person who stated that he got $30 for Rumble Roses XX really got $7.50 (or so) for it. He confused RRXX with Dead or Alive Extreme 2, which gets you $37.50 with the GC promo.

Yeah, I was gonna say RRXX is like 19.99 EVERYWHERE now.

Dunno if this is recent or leftovers from an old clearance, but the TRU in Frisco, TX (at Stonebriar) also had PS2 The Warriors for $10. I passed on it, so it's still there. Might want to check your local TRUs for this, though (you have to look behind the glass since it's M rated).

Picked up Nanostray, Phoenix Wright (as a spare - there were still 4 or 5 left) and Bust a Move DS.

I also chose Tomb Raider Legend on Gamecube over DS since I've heard the DS version is so-so.

Picked up Rumble Roses XX as well, but seeing as its normally cheap, I may just return it. The shelf tag had $14.99. I picked it up to trade/keep for when I get a 360 but having $10 held up to save $5 or $10 on a game I may or may not get for a 360 I might get makes little sense.

I asked for two copies each of Splinter Cell: DA and R6:V. All was well until the clerk scannned them at .01 each. She muttered under her breath and explained that they were "defective". I said if they were defective, then the games should be removed too (shoddy logic that makes little sense, but so did her argument.) She went in the back and her manager was a turd and told her to not sell them after all. So, no go with the penny guides this time.

Hmm. I've been thinking about picking up Lumines II all this week, but I dunno if it's really worth it. I love the crap out of the original, but I fear it may be more of the same. I may just splurge on it today on my lunch break.

Also, I've been playing the 360 version of Tomb Raider Legend and it's sheer gold. And I've never really liked Tomb Raider, but this is very clearly Prince of Persia: Sands of Time inspired, so anyone that likes puzzle platformers needs to get it, especially for $10. I'd go for the GC version.

Thanks OP!!

Here's what I picked up...

Alex Rider Stormbreaker

Freedom Wings
Nanostray
Quad Frenzy

Call of Duty 2 GOTY(skn261685)
Rumble Roses XX

My TRU had tons of the clearance games but I wasn't feeling any of them. I scored a copy of the original Lumines (for the PSP exploit) and it is on clearance for $13.98.
I picked up Polarium in the bargain bin for $4.98. Is this game worth 5 bucks -- it was an impulse buy.
Yes, it's IMO a very underrated game. Definitely worth $5. I got mine for $1 :D

I came close to picking up Puzzle Challenge for PS2 for $5 but I wasn't sure I could even get $5 worth of entertainment out if it, especially with so many actual good games to be played.

Thanks OP!

Picked up Gunpey and Lumines 2 for PSP.

Also, my TRU in East Brunswick, NJ had clearance PSP socks, like the ones that shipped with the first PSP bundles, for $4.98, in case anyone's looking for a soft-case.

I'm not sure if this has been explained in this long thread, but in regards to Call of Duty 2 GOTY, there are a couple different barcodes.

The GOTY that works does not have a DVD shrinkwrapped to the back of it.
It's codes are:
ISBN: 1-58416-908-7
UPC: 047875809390

I've explained it several times and requested it be added to the OP. It didn't happen.

I bombed at the closet TRU to my job. The XBOX selection was laughable. I di see TRL for GC but Ive already scored that. ah well all sales cant be gold. I did pick up Lumines PSP at gamecrazy though. :D

White Marsh MD TRU has most of the DS games in bulk, except for Pheonix Wright.

They also have two Call of Duty 2 GOY's *marked* at $9.99. No need for SKU checking. Actually all of the clearance games were tagged with stickers (this store seems to have it's act together!).

And if you want a non-GH GT4, they have about 40 copies, and that's no exaggeration.

This TRU has at least TEN copies of 360 Perfect Dark CE for $12.47.

if there was anything in that bin to begin with, it's now overrun with Trigger Man, the Matrix, and Snood II when I was there

I tried ringing up the CoD2 GOTY they had there...no dice.

Please add Suikoden Tactics for $11 to the list, at least it's in my TRU. I am surprised there are still 5 copies there.

it was in the clearance bin at times square also, didn't check the price though

Alright... I give up looking for Phoenix Wright. Couldn't find it at five more TRU. Did find a CC with it and got it for $16.96. Oh well... I would have wasted more gas driving around.

Did pick up today:

Lumines $13.98
Lumines II $9.98
Onimusha DoD $8.48
Rumble Rose XX $9.98

There's about 5 or 6 more Onimusha at the Thousand Oaks TRU, and one more copy of Rumble Rose XX.

Did see Urban Reign on clearance for $7.50. Will wait till under $5 to pick it up.

went back today and picked up a copy more games.

Lumines, Lumines II, Gunpey, and another copy of Rumble Roses XX as a present for a friend.

wheee.. at Madison's west side Toys R Us, most of the games are sitting on the shelves rather in the bins. Rumble Roses is still marked as $20

I came up empty.
I was hoping to find a copy of PS2 Splinter Cell: DA, but found nearly nothing at my local (Puyallup, WA) TRU. The racks had been reagganged since my last visit and it seems like the number of games has shrunk yet again.

When I was little, TRU was THE place to go for video games. They had a long aisle where both sides were covered in little placards displaying the front and back of the box. You'd grab the ticket and get the game up front. It was fun. And you'd find just about anything you could want. Now I'm more surpriused if they have something I'm interested in. It's so sad.

So no Splinter Cell for me. Can't speak for the rest of the sale games, as they just weren't on my radar, but the pickings in genreal just seemed kinda slim.

Those were great days. I used to walk up and down the isles looking at nintendo games. Those days it was pretty much a blind buy on everything. No fancy online reviews to read! Then there was the glass case show casing systems I knew I would never own. Like that damn 3DO

Mine in Evansville, IN has a bunch of some splinter cell game for 4.98 or around that. They still have suikoden tactics for 10.98 clearanced but I have seen 3 price drops on it in 4-5 months and since they still have alot I'm waiting for another.

I got Justice League Heroes of the PSP for $10 yesterday! :hot: I even risked passing on the cheap PS2 version in case I could get it for cheap on the PSP :)

I think it may have been a screw up though, as the computer rang it up for $20. But they gave it to me for $10, as it had the $10 price on it and was in the clearance bin. I couldn't believe how many great PSP games they had, though not everything I wanted from the list. Ended up also picking up Lumines 2 (and then Daxter and Syphon Filter for $15 each at Best Buy :) )

That's not new. It's been 10.98 for a LONG time at my TRU. They have about 20 of them still and have been there for at least a month..

I remember those days so well. My worst blind buy of all time was Spelunker for the NES. I saved up my money forever then my mom took me to TRU and I looked at all the box backs and ended up with that stinker. Ah, well.

Ugh. The bad old days. At least there was still game renting-in some ways it seemed like there were more stores, although of course no Gamefly! And there were magazines, though not the online sites or aggregation sites.

As of last night there were 7 copies of Phoenix Wright at the TRU on Route 46 West.

Revised DS list below for that location:

DS
Alex Rider Stormbreaker
Black Bass Fishing
Bust A Move
Dino Champ
Golden Nugget Casino
Nanostray
Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney
Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest
Texas Hold Em

Weird. I've had a different price ring up before at Toy's R Us, and they've given me the cheaper price right away.

Since it was in two clearance bins, I wonder if it was supposed to be on clearance after all? Seems like a big coincidence.
