Lots of stress, more than enough stuff to get done and not nearly enough money for what I need to make the world go round...yet im still happy.

I think somebody drugged me.
whats with the bandanas on peoples faces around here? is that this years halloween thing?
If you're a listener of the CAGcasts, Wombat was having a pretty rough patch of life. It was basically an attempt to boost his morale a little bit and have some fun.

Some people got their stones twisted over it though...
mornin' OTT, i might actually try posting something in you today
Same.

I really don't feel like reading Gulliver's Travels.

Ive gotta read two books of "A Farewell to Arms" by Ernest Hemingway

Hemingway is the best cure for insomnia ever. Especially the first half of The Sun Also Rises (I think that's the title of the one in Pamplona, Spain with the bullfighting).

I'm reading a screenplay by Arthur Miller(of course, right) as we speak/type/whatever.

It's short and to the point, so I don't mind reading it for school.

What a way to start the week. Another school shooting.. This time in a one room amish school house.

Edit: Woah, six kids dead, three wounded, and another in critical condition. :/
Makes me feel not-so-bad for not going to school today.
What does?

I've been up since like 5:30 AM and now I'm going to go nap outside for about an hour. A day off is a day off, no matter how little shit there is to be DOOM!....I mean, done.

Oliver Twist very nearly killed my mind back in ... 6th? 7th? grade. And it was so fucking horrible and dull that, though I read it all, I couldn't even give a 5 minute oral report on that fucking piece of shit. I talked for a minute or two and just said "I'm sorry. I can't do this."

This kinda reminds me of that Weird Al song "Amish Paradise".

this is definitely rockstar's fault. the amish school shooting mission in San Andreas was clearly the inspiration.
Alright, OTT rule no. 1 should be "Every OTT has to have 'OTT' in the title".
Actually, rule number one was just have it marked as an Off Topic Topic. The OTT acronym spawned out of a need for a shorter way of saying that.

We were never forced to read Dickens, but I can imagine it's as bad as ol' Ernest. I gotta admit, he has the one up on Dickens since Charlie didn't blow his own head off in a drunken, depressed stupor.

In third place is Poe, that languid old bastard. I had to do a report on Annabel Lee... I try not to 'drone' through reports, but it was impossible not to.

I thought rule number 1 was there are no rules. Creating rules forms a topic for the OTT to follow. If your off topic topic is on the topic of following topics... well, then your head just explodes.

If Poe is on anyone's worst author list, they need to read several more authors.

Nobody said he was bad. We were discussing authors who were boring. I mean, I particularly like The Telltale Heart; that was interpretive speech project in 12th grade, but personally I think the rest of his stories are a chore to read.

It's more of a guideline to avoid confusion, as back in the day, there were a lot of stupid people who couldn't find the OTT, even if it was called the OTT. Still are.

I also went with your advice and got two 1gig sticks of ram.

Boo poor judger of writing! Hooray Poe!

It's all in one's opinion, jeez. I prefer to read contemporary stuff like Heinlein or Preston or Chrichton, not Poe's sad mental ramblings.

God Heinlein is boring.

All this talk about boring authors and no mention of Nathaniel Hawthorne? He's easily the most boring author of all time.
God Heinlein is boring.
See? It depends on the person. But yeah, Heinlein isn't my top favourite, but I like reading his stuff. Sad thing is, the only books I've read more than once were Star Beast and Starship Troopers.

I read Starship Troopers, and it was good, just way too much boring shit on pointless stuff like the exact standing of a junior senior lieutenant captain second class in the command hierarchy.

The Great Gatsby was pretty fuckin' horrible, too. I never finished either of those.

In 6th grade, my gifted class did a unit on The Hobbit. I, however, had already read it the year before, and did a book report on it actually. Instead of taking the easy A, I read Fellowship and the teacher had to make up seperate tests just for me.

Wasn't the Scarlett Letter about adultery? But oh God, Great Gatsby, I haaaate that story and movie with every fibre of my being. :puke:

Yeah, Scarlet Letter sucked terribly. I wanted to kill myself after just starting a few chapters of that. Gatsby was pretty bad, too.

As for Dickens, I do like Great Expectations a lot.

No love for The Great Gatsby? I sorta liked the movie. One more thing about Hawthorne, his life was every bit as boring as his books.

I begged my teacher never to show the movie again. The sad thing was, I had a boner for everything in the 1920's-30's, up until that movie. Sorry to knock it so hard, but I just couldn't follow it or get anything out of it. Sort of like Starship Troopers II.

Man, New Order's True Faith almost makes work enjoyable.

reading is for whores and fat people. and the great gatsby sucked.

edit: out of all of the required reading in high school the catcher in the rye was the only one I enjoyed.
The Catcher in the Rye is my favorite book.
I know I've said this, but your avatar is cool as hell.

Don't you just love how some people will just pop in and say hello to you, after they've treated you like shit? It's like they got bored and they know you're the only person who'll put up with their stupidity.
The Catcher in the Rye is my favorite book.
I really liked it, but I never "had" to read it. In fact, I never got around to reading it until last year. The first time I tried to read it, I only made it a few pages in before losing interest. The second time, I flew through the damn thing.

My favorite forced reading was Animal Farm. I've read that several times on my own since.

Inherit the Wind wasn't bad for a school required book. How can you beat a play that involved a comment about a monkey being a character's uncle?

And everyone knows Gertrude Stein should be on the top of everyone's hated author list. Gods damn I hate her writing...

Thanks Eviltude.

I also think it's not bad for my first animated avatar.

Catcher wasn't a forced reading for me either. My 9th grade journalism teacher recommended it to me. She said I reminded her of Holden.

She was right.

Same here, along with 1984. I read that before I was forced, so that was a breeze.
