Animal Crossing: City Folk - Gen. Discussion and info
'Cuz that's what Sony and MS did - let you use anything available.

Right.

I'm really tired of the double standards I see going on so much lately. Being worried about what people in the room would hear online? Ok Dallow. Because you were going to be playing these games with other people around, and the people online were actually going to talk to you.

It aint worthless. No one wants to use it. There's a difference. And again, had it not been an option, everyone would have been up in arms whining like children.

Much like everyone is doing now.

The main problem with WiiSpeak is not that it's a bad device (although I was having trouble hearing KingBroley last night) but that Nintendo has yet again split their userbase by charging $20-$30 for a fucking microphone. If they made it like MK Wii where every copy of AC:CF was $50 and shipped with WS I'm sure lots of people would have WS and love it. But $20 for a mic is really steep. I have no job and limited descrentionary income, so there was no way I was going to spend $20 on a peripheral that may or may not pick up steam and be used again.

Uh, yes, I can use any USB or BT headset on the PS3. It's completely open. I share the BT set with my phone.
It does irk me that I have to use a seperate one with MS, but it came free with the system at least.

And yes, I don't always play my games alone in my living room.

The last few times I've played AC online I've had to turn off mic option as my sister was playing or watching me play. (gaffers have dirthy mouths. :arg: )

Wow. Playing with people from NeoGaf is about the worst possible thing you could do to yourself, short of playing with Btards.

But that doesn't mean your shallow negative opinion makes sense. And it annoys the shit out me since people undoubtedly come onto CAG and into this thread and want to play, and then get idiotic opinions like yours proclaiming bullshit you have no reason to talk about, especially when you refuse to use the damn thing.

Dmunkee - I'm around. Open up your gates when you get the chance please.

hey doc, can you order me one?

as for the mush series, i got an end table today, so this is what i still need. i still have lamps, beds and wall paper to trdae. strell sent me a gift too. did you need one of those, i can send it tonight or we can meet up.

i also broke my axe so if someone has an extra... and im still looking for apples & oranges.

Forest Floor
Mushroom Dresser
Mushroom Closet
Mushroom Chair
Mushroom Stool

also, i like the pictures, but maybe we can start putting them in spoilers?

I sent you a stand and....something else.

I figured I didn't know the next time we might meet up since it's about to be holiday and I imagine people are MIA for the next 3-4 days.

Dmunkee: I'm en route.

How does it not make sense?

Over-priced room mic (with TV only output) vs an inexpensive headset solution (allows for either TV output or personal speaker).

If it had maybe a small speaker you could put on your ear, and still have the mic free elsewhere, it wouldn't have been so bad.

I don't have to use it to know how it works. It's just a mic that sits in the room.
Voice quality, good or bad doesn't matter, as it's limited by it's construction.

(My GAF friends don't have dirty mouths, it's the friends of friends thing.)

Still missing coconuts, but I see others have gotten lucky and gotten them already.

Also, I need to start waking up early and playing the game to get the goodies first as a certain someone keeps getting to them first by the time I get home from work.
And she won't give me the extras!

dallow, if you don't have any by Friday I have some extras once I'm back in town.

As far as the WiiSpeak thing is concerned, $40 is certainly a great deal if I did not already have the game. At $70, WiiSpeak is a little more than a gimmick considering I already own several mics and am not able to use them in Animal Crossing. My friends, this is Nintendo milking at their finest!

My turnip prices are at 395 currently. Town is open.

Edit: Changed price.

That is such bullshit. If I said a PS3 game sucked without playing it, you'd call me out on that.

My beef is that you are saying it doesn't work well, when every instance I've used it so far has proven it works extremely well, both in delivering and receiving voice.

As far as headsets go, I get tired of reading stories of people breaking their's out of nowhere since they are clearly so shoddily made (MS). So I can forgo that option altogether since WS never moves - it's never going to move around so I'm saved the trouble.

The fact that you are parading around your willfully ignorant opinion as fact simply because you have other solutions on other consoles is the most retarded logic in the world, and you know it.

Nintendo might not do things first all the time or the same way as other people, and a lot of their peripherals might be extraneous, but they ALWAYS function properly and never have hiccups. WS works and your idiotic opinion doesn't change that, but your opinion DOES affect the potential of ME having fun with others with it, and that's ridiculous - stepping on other people's toes just because you're a misinformed idiot.

People buy wireless ones that work for 6 hours and need batteries, or they buy ones that sit on your ear and break in a few months, or they spend money on wireless keyboards. Unbelievable. Especially when I consider I seem to be able to type as fast with my pointer as anyone with an actual keyboard.

5 bucks more and you could erase those problems. But no. Let's all push around our stupid personal agendas at the expense of other people because that's the cool thing to do these days in a gaming community overrun with pompous whiny children addled with entitlement disease.

Like them legs, keep 'em open!!

..I probably won't be on until later tonight, though :whistle2:( Will you be available tonight?
I didn't check my store yet, so I don't know what he selling them for.

Strell, what the hell? I NEVER said it doesn't work well.
Wow. I said it doesn't matter if it works perfectly, or is terrible. That isn't my problem with it.

My beef is that others in the room HAVE to hear what online people are saying unless I use headphones.
And much like IO, I'd rather not have other people in the living room/kitchen area hearing what they say sometimes.

Not all of us play privately.

EDIT:
I even made it clear in my first post about it when it said it was pointless for me.
So my opinion shouldn't be hurting others. Oh jeeze.

I'm going to open my town, but I'll be AFK.

Feel free to drop by anyone - just reco'nize I prolly won't be respondin'.

Also, as I told Dmunkee, I'll be online tonight, except between 9-10 PM CST. That's STRELLY'S TIME!

And even then I'd probably just leave it open regardless.

Also, kevlar, if you read this - I have tried to send you the Redd invite, but it won't let me choose you as a letter recepient. I imagine you have to actually go to someone's town before that is possible. I'm still holding onto it, but we might need to go to each others' place.

Edit: Town is open. I am leaving it open for a good while. Feel free to stop by to sell turnips.

I have a mush table, mush stand, mush tv. Might open my gates later tonight.

Man how long does it take for a tree to grow? I got some fruit from others and they are still growing.

Hey Ramstoria, just letting you know that I gave Strell the mush stuff you wanted. I'm not sure if I'll be on later tonight, so I gave it to Strell to give to you in case I can't make it. I've had such bad luck with mail lately that I also didn't want to chance losing it that way either.

And yes, we were finally able to have the heartwarming reunion between the lost kitten and her mother :applause:

ya thanks strell.. made some nice money, though wish I had more money to spend on turnips last Sunday. Owell saving my ass off for this Sunday.

Thank you for the orange, Dallow.

Town is still open, I might be AFK though.

Edit: I imagine everyone knows AFK means "away from keyboard." I have a design tile indicating I am as such. :]

I never did much with the design element in WW, but I kind of want to mess around with it here. BlueLobster gave me a few ideas. :]

What does BL have?

He had black and white squares on his ground. Think of an old skool diner.

Then he would hide under an umbrella with the same pattern.

Sneaky devil.
Ill update the OP with at least a few days worth of FCs tonight, and the rest tomorrow...

That being said, how do you get a FC?
After you do Nook's beginning chores (delivery, planting, sign, etc), go talk to Copper. He's the right dog in your gate. He'll issue you a FC.

If you go before finishing Nook's chores, you won't be able to get it.

Without further ado, My friend code info:

FC: 2063-2786-9627
Name: Alex
Town: Mordor
Fruit: Cherries

Anyone wanna play? Ill be on for the next hour or 2.........if you add me be sure to pm :D
Anyone's nook buying turnips for a high price right now?
395 at my place.

I'm AFK but gates are open.
Good thats what I put...btw dallow added you

Edit: opened gate if anyone wants to play
If you enter the FC right, the name and town can be anything. It fixes as soon as you meet up with that person. Several people on my friends list, before meeting with them, were named h and they lived in g.

Shutting down my city to play Brawl for a bit. If I can't get any Brawl connections, I'll re-open. Nook's was only open for another 20 min anyway so I imagine anyone who wanted to sell turnips got their chance.

Bbs.
Also, why arent the villagers giving out odd jobs or anything as much anymore? Is it a certain time or something?
The developers have seemed to scrap the idea of trying to make a profit from selling their items. I mean seriously, they expect us to actually fish, catch bugs, and get fruit to get cash. It's pretty rare to see a animal ask you to do something for them, if you ever get the chance to do a job for them, I would not let it slip you by.

I was quite annoyed with this as well, you talk to them and they say random stuff. It's a lot better then GC as they'd just keep telling you how to do stuff. Like plant a tree, etc for like a week.

Hi, my girl plays this game. Usually after work around 6pm to whenever. She's not really a gamer, but I just bought her a Wii and she loves this game.
I wanted to show her how much fun a game can get online... if you guys have room for 1 more on one of your online shenanigans, please let me know... haha.

We have peaches, she'll bring them to trade for any other fruit. Thanks. Also looking for axe and slingshot, let me know what you guys need and I'll ask her if she can grab extras.

I've played the gamecube version before, but I'm not familiar with this one... so let me know what you guys need, if you do invite her. Thanks.

Left Hook:

You need to post up your gf's Friend Code. She can get this by going into the town gate and talking to the guy on the right (Copper). There should be an option in there for "Friend Code." It'll be a 12-digit number XXXX-YYYY-ZZZZ. Post it up along with her character name and town name.

Then she can add people to her friends list, and we can do the same. Then she'll be able to visit other towns/let people visit her's.

Might want to show her this thread or something too - lots of good information in it. People will post what fruits they have and when turnip prices are high and so on.

Strell, you're up late... or early... I just finished playing and as it was snowing I was trying to catch our big friend - but this time I didn't even see one to have the chance to miss it. I also had to deal with Sahara for a bit. If you are staying up any longer I could open back up.

If anyone has a solution for the paths trod into the ground please let me know. It doesn't seem that planting trees or flowers makes any difference, though maybe it hasn't been long enough. Can anyone who has the guide see if it says something about this? I tried Google but pretty much all it comes up with are my very posts in this thread (d'oh!). I can't believe no one else has this problem.

GoNintendo mentioned the grooves are created much like pathways in real life - if you run over a specific area a lot, it'll show in the ground.

GoNintendo link, which leads to interview with Iwata where this is discussed.

It's meant to be a cutesy addition to the game. I notice it more and more with each day, and can't really tell how I feel about it. Makes the ground textures too busy. Looks dirty.

So everyone is experiencing it - trust me. Especially when you consider that people fishing will run along the same borders and so on.

Edit: Huh. Look at this:
Most of the discussion focuses on fairly obscure minutiae. So Nogami discusses how WiiConnect24 allows for the exchange of village data without you knowing it, which means people can visit a friend's village while their Wii is off, as can NPCs from other villages, who may then spread rumors from their hometown. The team estimates the game's appeal becomes "two or three times" as great when played online, a statement we look forward to testing.

That doesn't sound right. How in the world would I go to someone else's village without them opening the gates?

Edit 2: Wait, maybe I'm reading it wrong. I think it means that, say, your own NPC might visit a friend's town that you've gone to. Or something. I dunno. This is a little confusing. If I can go to someone else's place without them being around, that makes kitten rescuing a lot easier.

I'm up late because I'm preparing Thanksgiving dinner this year. Had to inject the turkey, make cornbread, tea, and prepare other small things. It's all out this time.

Tomorrow will be a long day of cooking, eating, playing Aminal Crossing, and watching movies. Sounds pretty good, actually.

But Imma retire for now. I should be online a good bit tomorrow with my gates open. :]

Happy Thanksgiving/Harvest Day, everybody!
