Animal Crossing: City Folk - Gen. Discussion and info

To add to the wireless keyboard convo, I picked up the Logitech EX100 when it was on sale at Target a couple of months back. No, it isn't as compact as the Wii-specific version (although it looks bigger in the picture than it actually is), but for $14.99, I couldn't resist. All in all, I've been very happy with my purchase.
 
Your WiiSpeak wasn't bad, but I know I couldn't do that too often because I'd likely wake up the baby at night.

I have the wireless keyboard/mouse combo that was on sale for ~$35 at Target a while back and like it. I just wish the caption space was larger, I type too much and too quickly or my own good! It would have been nice to get a smaller keyboard without the 10-key, but I never saw anything wireless that was cheaper.
 
Nook told me he is remodeling the store and it will be closed tomorrow. My boyfriend was playing and he accidentally told him he wants better hours. That's not what we want. We want Nookington's. So is the store going back to nookway? Can I upgrade it back to Nookingtons?

My Nooks is closed for today because I am downgrading back to Nookways. The hours at Nookington's are just not practical for me. I am an early and late player and need the hours accordingly.

I'll log on around 10 pm and see if anyone is on. I have some things to take care of with my daughter first and then I'll log in. Hopefully Eugaet is on! Stupid Bella wanted to trade your Arwing for a manor wall!

i've started to do something fun. everyday i cut down 20 trees and throw my axe in the fountain. and i've started to plant trees along side the paths i always walk. i've only just got it started, but i'm already really liking this idea. and it's easy to plan where i plant them by placing tiles on the ground.

i'm a big bug and fish guy, so in february, i've kind of got to make my own fun. since there is absolutely nothing new to get. come march, i'll play a lot more, and hopefully i can get back online. since it's fun just to hang out and catch fish and bugs.

and on a side note. i'd call serena the biggest flaw of city folk. what the heck. has anyone figured this b*#$* out yet? i'd really take advantage of a golden axe if i had one. or even a silver one. what the heck.
 
CL, need a white queen? Got it in Nook's tonight, 8000 bells. Available for another 1.5 hours.

I'll open my gates for a little while, but will likely be AFK. Stuff by the gate is free to anyone who wants it.

Also, got the golden slingshot tonight. :)

Finally got my town to perfect status after figuring out I had not planted a tree that I had mapped out on my grid. Thanks to Becky & Eugaet for the open gates tonight.

Thanks guys for a fun night. I ended up playing a total of 3 hours on line. That's the longest for me since December.
 
Yeah! Last night was a blast. I safely delivered Eugaet's Arwing to him without his kids finding out. Janet was kind enough to bring me my fossils. Now all I need whatever is between the amber and the Peking man and I am all done.

Nook's got downgraded as well. Hoooray!

Obviously I need to stop being anti-social, swap the keyboard and sit on the damn floor. Looks like missed out. Tonight I move off the couch! :)

I spent some time last night running around planting fruit in the ground in an attempt to get the town status to change even a little bit. It has been, paraphrased, "not good, some areas need more trees, TREES!" so I planted trees everywhere that seemed to be short on them and yet the status didn't change. I haven't done any mapping out of acres - I figured if I just winged it I'd get some sort of status change, but nothing. Now, while I did plant of few actual trees from Nooks, mostly I've taken fruit and just stuck it in the ground. Does that not count? Also, do you have to wait for the trees to grow fully before the status changes?

Ash, I'll send you a King Tut mask tonight, or drop it off if I see you online. I'm not looking for equal value in exchange for those King Tut masks. Heck, I got my original one (no, three - two others for my two kids) for free from oemor. :) So just something that's cool. Ideally it would be a mask, but it could be a hat, glasses, shirt, whatever. Just something cool to wear that I don't have. I probably don't have it, so just send something. Even if I have it I can give it to my kids.

EDIT: found out that the charm in my town this month is to plant exactly 1 tree. So anyone willing to help me with this tree problem, please do so, and get a charm while you're at it. [smiley deleted: smiley overload sensor triggered]

I had the same thing happening to me, and it was because 10 of my acres were perfect 14 of my acres were decent and there was only 1 acre that was so-so and needed the tree. My suggestion would be to figure out which acre(s) is in the need of the adjustment rather than lowering the rating of other acres, but to each their own.

Tree saplings from the time they are planted count as a tree, because when I planted my last tree yesterday, I immediately went into the perfect status after being in so-so status. By the way, you must have a minimum of 10 trees or a maximum of 17 trees in each acre, not counting flowers, to have a decent acre. If you have flowers, then it can greatly alter the mix. I've gone with 10 trees in my decent acres to try and minimize the tree volume, and then I had a couple of other acres with 17 trees for my native cherry orchard, and my bare tree forest.

I didn't get any special flowers this morning though, which surprised me as I thought you got something the first morning after going perfect.

Crunch, I will definitely be up to planting a tree in your village. I could use some luck. Yesterday I had a balloon package disappear on me. I shot it down and when it hit the ground poof it was gone.

I feel like such an outcast lately. I have been so tired I am crashing out early and I never get to go and hang.:cry:
 
I finally got around to checking my town charm for the month of February - you have to plant a red turnip seed in my town. Seriously. Mind you, I don't expect ANYONE to do this, but if you're at all interested in some good luck, let me know.

Worst. Charm. Ever.

Kilraven - I got my robo bed and flooring. Thanks! No sign of the robo chair yet. The bed and floor came on different days for some reason. Actually I'm losing track of who is sending what, but I think the robo chair from you is all that's left. The robo bed came among some of my catalog stuff from Nooks, but I purchased so much during the 5x sale that I didn't get a fair bit of the Nooks stuff. I presume more will come today.

This past weekend I visited my nephews town and his entire town was blanked with snow. Only the tiniest of bare spots, if any. I asked if he ever runs and the answer was no. I wish I had that kind of patience, as it was pretty nice. However, we have enough snow to build snowmen. I want to thank whomever it was who semi-recently posted a link to tips about building good snowmen, because it's worked beautifully. I've built 3 good ones in a row and it's easy with those tips (in short, make one full size such that it can be no bigger, then one almost full size, and only try to move a snowball any distance when it is big. Works like a charm.)
 
Found myself having to go back by the house this morning, so I checked turnip prices. 47. Meh. I'm really hoping someone ends up w/ 300+ this week during the evening (or at anytime Saturday).

Got the stuff I ordered for people last night, will ship out tonight. Interstella, I ordered the Samurai Suit, should have it tomorrow. So here's what's going out tonight:

Any of you aristocrats rolling in it might want to come look in my Able shop: they have the royal crown (the big red velvet one, not the Princess Peach one).

Right now it's snowing, but honestly haven't had great luck. Only made about $30,000 this morning, and nary a BIG fish in sight. EDIT: Of course as soon as I post this it stops snowing. Oh well.

Nookways opened today, and he's having a 50% off sale this evening. A writing desk, a pyramid, and two other things I don't care about are in there. Turnips are crap, though.

CL: I'm ordering your black queen now that he's open.

I definitely want the pyramid, since I am already flossing with a Crown. My turnips are now at 94 bells (up from 64 from this morning), which could be a good sign. Hopefully they will jump up even higher tomorrow.

I need the Robo-Clock! I have everything you need except for the Robo-Closet (Warddrobe?) I probably need more lab stuff (is there a lab clock? dresser? wardrobe? lamp? Don't send any of that stuff even if it exists yet - I tend to forget what I have... let me check first :), but also would now like to start building some other sets. Do you have any other collections of furniture? I'd like to start perhaps the cabana set, or something like that. Thanks, Romeo, for opening your town last night, though it was a mystery where the big fish were. At least I caught a couple tuna and a football fish. I hope I didn't jinx the charm by catching a second bitterling. Do extras break the charm? I'm also wondering what effect the charm will have if do still have it.

EDIT: others are trying to get robo stuff too, so probably I should only give you some of the stuff you need, as I think they also need the robo-clock. So, I'll wait for them to chime in....

EDIT2: Ok, so only Darkpumpkin has taken me up on one of these King Tut Masks and now I'm loaded down with them. What do I have to do? Have a blue light special? Surely you can't all already have King Tut Masks, can you? Come on, at least offer to make me a half-decent homemade pattern or two in exchange. I'll accept! :)

For others to visit your town, do you have to have the game up and running? Or is there a way to use WiiConnect24? (sorry if this is a stupid question)
 
I forget who was collecting the chess pieces, but I've got a Black & White Bishop both in my Nookington's today. As well, I know there were a few of you that wanted the Lovely collection, and there is a Lovely Lamp in Nookington's also.

Turnips were only in the mid 60's today, so I'm hoping for the Wed night spike like last week.

Go into that building right where your bus stop is, the gates, and you have to talk to the dog guard on the right to open your gates if you want people to come in. If you want to go out, you ask him to search for open gates. You have to have the game on and running for people to visit back and forth.

Feel free to add your info to the list in my signature, and let anyone know if you added them so they can add you too. It's a mutual agreement, so if you add them and they don't add you, you don't get anywhere.

Cool - thank you for the info. I may get a chance to play more tonight. So far all I've done is buy a house, talk to everyone and shake a bunch of trees.

You have to have the game running to let people visit. You can enable WiiConnect24, however, to allow for delivery of mail, and I think other stuff (DLC from Nintendo?) I'm not really sure what it's used for to tell the truth, but I think it can help speed up mail delivery to and from friends. Don't quote me on it. You enable WiiConnect24 via the telephone beside your bed.

You need to get and share your friend code and you need to enter other people's friend codes before you can visit/be visited. To get a friend code you must talk to the guard on the right at the gate and select the Friend Code option. Once you have some other peoples FCs entered and they have yours entered, you can let people into your town by opening your gate. You do that by talking to the same guard. You go out by talking to him as well.

I'm maintaining a list of active AC:CF players. Post your FC info here and I'll add you to the list. Use the format you see in that list. You'll probably want to add people on the active list as well. See my signature for a link to that list normally, but I'll post it here as well for your convenience in case you have signatures hidden (like I do!):
