Animal Crossing: City Folk - Gen. Discussion and info

Io - I can hold stuff for you, especially bells as I'd like to get my gold card :) Also can hold items for you - I've got room and my wife has a character but doesn't really play, so I could store lots of items for you in hers. You'd have to add my FC, though, and I'd have to add you back (dropped yours since you never added mine.)

turnips now 121 - i'll stay open a little longer for any stragglers.

Registering slowly in groups of three (I need to get a USB keyboard). Just reg'd Daisydog, crunchewy, and alison.

darkpumpkin, I've got a hollow heart next to your name now.

Crunchewy- I decided against selling the game (for now) and am playing quite frequently. Id appreciate to get added to the active list and next time I get the chance Ill link the thread at the top of the OP, just PM the link :D

Everyone else - Id appreciate getting readded by those who deleted me and although Im not popping up that much (at the moment). I am preparing that bigass bell donation I promised to CAG 10-15 pages back and Im earning bells by the million. I hope to play with you guys soon (pm me if you add me ;) )

Just got done visiting a friend's town (both kids and I in turn) and decided to see who was listed after the kids went to bed. Noticed Daisydog had her gate open, but it filled up before I could crash the party. And I mean crash in the nicest, friendliest way. :)

I'll check later to see if you still have it your gate open and there's a slot open. If not, no big deal. I should probably be going to bed anyway.

Hope we catch eachother soon. :)
Janet, I'm not sure if you saw this or not, but take a look @ http://acforums.megadoomer.com/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=19171&hilit=serena for the Serena experiences others have had. Let me know if it helps, I'm pulling for you!

It was fun fishing tonight. I seriously can't believe how many lobsters & red snappers I caught.
Thanks Matt, I'll check it out. Congrats! Fishing was crazy tonight! I walked away with full pockets and a house full of fish myself. Thinking about keeping some for the flea market if it's not too far away.

And thanks again to everyone who stopped by. Tonight was a lot of fun :bouncy:
Especially when Willie came

Just registered eugaet :)

On that note, I still have everyone on crunchewys list reg'd, so hope to see you online to fully register.

Also sorry if I haven' been on as much as I should, I'll try to play more this week. btw thanks for all the help in the game to the peeps on my friends list.

Had an awesome time at Janet's town last night. Fishing was amazing; caught a tuna, several football fish, a snapper, and some sea butterflies. Then, when I got home, there were two stringfish next to each other and caught them both. Made a killing last night.

Paid 94 for bells this morning.

I'm posting if anyone wants to hit up Joan for the next half hour, but mostly because, in about 30 minutes, I won't remember what I paid for them.

Ok, someone better have a good price on turnips this week.

I just spent 800,000 on a throne and pretty much wiped out my savings. BTW if anyone wants one let me know, send me the money and I will order it.

Paid 96 each. Lets just say I will be highly motivated to sell these things this week. Too bad I'm only able to sell in the evenings (I refuse to wake up any earlier than I have to).

Last week's turnip run was a bust, though. It was my first foray and I was just messing around, testing the waters...bought 100 for 10000 bells. Prices were terrible all week long...and even worse Sat night. And then the kids took over when K.K. came by...and I forgot all about it and didn't sell them to break even like I planned.

In other news, my museum is now the proud exhibitor of a 10000 bell ant.

So, I thought about forgetting about turnips altogether...and then this morning I go straight to the other extreme. Highly motivated.

I'll reg some more CAGs today. Hopefully, one of you will have a good price this week. :)

Eugaet, I have a hollow heart by your name as well. I am hoping next time we are both online, we won't have any connection issues. Rest assured, your Arwing is safe in my pocket!

I didn't get to play last evening because my fiance was nice enough to let me have some alone time. So I met my mom and we did some shopping and grabbed a bite to eat. So when I got home, it was my time to take over baby duty. I was on long enough to snag a K.K. song and pick some fruit. I'll be on later tonight though!

WOOO! Nook had a silver net today. I was starting to think he would never get it in. I also bought 990 turnips at 96 bells today, so hopefully I cash in this week.

So my brother donated 200,000 bells to get a new bridge right... and we never got a notice saying we got to vote.. or anything, and its been more than a couple days.

Hey converse, Becky the chicken told me that if I go catch a sea butterfly in your town, my financial market will be better.

Does anyone know if when they say things like this, it will come true? I've had several other animals tell me good luck charms like this, but I never bothered. Of course I'm flat broke and this could only help everyone since we can sell at each others' stores.

I believe it's correct, because when I went to Katrina in my city for my fortune this week she stated the same Charm. Come to my town for the sea butterfly's.

I had a villager in my town telling me to go to Luxville and plant 2 trees for the charm there. I don't recall what the benefit was. It'd be nice if we could get some sort of grid of things.

BTW, my gates are open nearly all day until someone else opens up. Nook's is closed for Nookington upgrade, but I've got a ton of cherries at the gate for the taking.

OK, I'm creating a grid of some valuable pieces of info I think would be helpful to all. This doesn't replace any of the existing lists unless you guys want to go to one list, but check it out @ http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=p-uTIBed0ZAUkdwbKKaYQAQ

If you would like your info added, you can edit it yourself, or please include all fields and send to me via PM, or post on here. I think it would be really cool if we could get this information for everyone.
What's the charm?
If you go to that town and complete that charm, you will receive some benefit. In my case, go to my town and catch a Sea Butterfly and you will experience riches, which I believe Janet said would be more rare items in Nooks. The benefit will apply to your town, but it must be achieved in my town. To determine what your town charm is, go to the fortune teller in the city and one of the options is for your charm.
Can your town's charm change?
I think it changes every month. You can find out what the charm is from Katrina.

You have to go to your city hall and talk to the duck again and then you guys can vote.
If you don't vote I don't think it'll ever be built.

Thanks, converse. I managed to get two sea butterflies, thanks to kilraven. Man, your town has the same luck fishing as mine. XP I tried to come back, but it said that you were having connection issues (unless you defriended me for going back and forth. XD )

CL-Insanity: Do you have the Black Queen yet? I can mail-order you one. I'm not giving up the one in my house. :p
I didn't see it earlier since I've been puttering around all day, but I'm heading over now. I come bearing small gifts.
Thanks for the gifts.

I've got my gates open again, not sure what happened earlier. I will admit, there isn't much exciting in my town right now unless you want to pick up a ton of cherries, catch a sea butterfly, or a few exotic fruit available. In a bit the coeli should be out, as it is snowing in my town today.

I don't know if I need the black queen... but send it anyway.... I can always mail it back... anything anyone needs that I might be able to provide...?? I do have all the fruits...
Still looking for chess pieces. Thanks for the pieces last night, Janet!!!
I have the black knight, white bishop and black bishop. Need any of these?

I'll be on a bit later. First I'll find out what the charm is in our town, though hopefully your still open Converse as I'd like to catch some fish there given the charm and the snow!
Anybody know what the empty magic lamp is for? I found it sitting on the ground outside and Nook won't buy it off me.
That's for Wisp the ghost. He will be in your town sometime tonight looking to reclaim it. You then meet him up in your attic and he will grant you one of 3 wishes.

1) Rid town of weeds
2) Grant you furniture
3) Smash roaches for you, I believe.

You have to have your gate closed or he will not grant you the wish, citing he is very shy.
Did you add me, I have been open a lot today.
I think I added you. If not, I will add you later tonight. I'm watching the grammys now. :)

You can get clothes too. I got a hat from Wisp.

Thanks for opening your gate tonight, converse. That should take care of all the fruit.

My gate'll be open for another hour or so, although I'll be afk. There's some random items by the gate for visitors. Nothing good, really, but next time I'll special order some items.

FYI: No snow, Nook's is closed. You're welcome all the same, though.

I never got online last night and I must admit that the reason is that I was sitting on my couch and the thought of having to swap the keyboard from my computer *and* sit on the floor in order to use it (cable too short) just wasn't terribly appealing. Yes, I'm lazy. :) Anyone else have this problem? Of course I could have gone on without a keyboard, but the thought of communicating via the remote/onscreen keyboard wasn't appealing either. Oh well.

Well, I'm going to have this problem solved soon as I've asked my wife for the Logitech Wii Wireless keyboard for Valentines day. :) It's a bit expensive, but actually it's not THAT bad considering that it is so small. I've not actually seen anything comparable, but does anyone know of a similarly good quality and size wireless keyboard that costs less? I hate dealing with cables, so getting a cable extension isn't an appealing option, plus I'd still need a keyboard to get rid of the keyboard swapping. One key, again, is that it has to be small so I can easily stow it away in the small space available on our TV stand.

While playing not online, I did manage to catch two stringfish. Yeah! Those are worth just as much as coelacanth, right? Are they just as rare? I also caught a tuna. I couldn't check the values as Nook's was closed by then. I was also looking for a lost key for one of the residents, but while I found lots of trash including a tire (never saw one of those before), I never found the key. Oh well.

Earlier in the evening Nooks was having a 5x points sale so I gathered and sold non-native fruit like crazy and bought all the stuff in the store of interest and some stuff from my catalog I actually wanted, and finally bought King Tut masks (12,000 bells - the most expensive thing in my catalog) a bunch of times just to accrue points. End results is I'm going to have a lot of King Tut masks. Does anyone want to trade masks? The King Tut mask is the only one I have and I'd like to get some others. I'm now a silver member at Nooks and I also traded in some of my points for an item I won't mention. Better to show it off. :)

EDIT: Also, it's a week for me without a turnip purchase, but I'll keep an eye on the price at our town for others.

Oh - and I also caught a centipede, which I'm guessing probably isn't an exciting event for most, but it was for me since I'd never caught one and it was the first I'd seen. :) Actually it was the second I'd seen. The first one I saw when I didn't have a net, so I went back to get my net. Previously hitting rocks had only ever turned up pill bugs for me. I donated the centipede to the museum. So far the only bugs I've caught are the mole cricket, pill bug and now centipede. I've been trying to catch a bee, but so far (painfully) without luck.

Crunchewy:

I see you talking about a wireless keyboard up there. Yeah, the white Wii-specific Logitech one is nice, but it's inherently overpriced for just how little functionality you get out of it.

I much prefer this one, which I picked up at Target a few weeks ago. It'll go on sale here and there. When I bought it, it was $37, which I thought was a great price. It's nice and stylish looking, and really does work exceedingly well.

Hello AC peoples. Hope to join back up with you guys very soon.

Thanks Strell, although that one fails in the size department. As I noted, I really want a small keyboard (but full-size keys). That's what I like about the Wii one. Also, I really have no need/desire for it to also work with a computer. I don't want to be swapping this thing between computer and Wii - I hate doing that now. I want to have a dedicated keyboard for the Wii. So I'm not sure what extra functionality such a keyboard could offer me. Perhaps it does offer something on the Wii? What?

I meant more as you get more for the money. I.e., an extra mouse just in case, a numpad if you ever needed to use this with a computer, etc. Luck favors the prepared and I'm very much a "under any circumstances and in any situation" sort of dood.

That's how I'm thinking about it. If size is a big issue, then that's the rub.

In truth, it doesn't really afford more in terms of pure Wii usage. There's no extra keys or anything that you'll get with that one versus the one you are looking at.
