Animal Crossing: City Folk - Gen. Discussion and info

She came over yesterday from someone else's town, but I forgot who. She had a happy face drawn on in bright read broad strokes. My brother said it looks like it was mashed in with lipstick.

Sharing this game with other people is a pain in the arse. It's difficult enough trying to keep some neighbors when others are treating them like crap and vice-versa (I HATE YOU AVERY GTFO), but the fact that Nook doesn't take into consideration that there's only a handful of items and 14 people living in the town and even necessities like the shovel and fishing pole aren't there for whoever moves in is just dumb. For almost 3 weeks now, he's had nothing BUT the fishing pole and the shovel. But today because my sister wants to play, let's change it to the useless crappy ass watch and a water can. *facepalm*

Yeah, that was from my town of Phoenix. I had never seen Blanca before that, and I think she almost looked like Tammy Fae Baker (how's that for an old reference).

When I go to the Message Board option at the Town Hall it makes mention that you can send photos to people, but when I try to send a message that way (currently I only have one friend's Wii Code, so I've only tried to them, and they don't have Animal Crossing), it never asks for a photo and all I can do is type in a message. So... I'm wondering if the recipient has to have Wii Speak, because the Wii Speak Channel has a feature that lets you send and receive pictures/photos - is AC:CF using the Wii Speak Channel to do the sending and receiving in this case? Or am I just not doing this right?

So. Mole cricket and ant. Any hints on how to get those?

I've tried going after the bees with only the net in my inventory...but I always whiff it and get stung. Nothing but net. I've been running away, pulling out the net, turning to face them, and then trying to net them. Should I be netting the hive on the ground?

I know you can send the photo's through Wii Speak or you can just go to the Wii Message board and send a photo from there (or maybe it is the photochannel).

That said I know that AC is not using the Wii Speak channel since people who do not have a Wii Speak do not have that channel.

Something doesn't sound right. Do they only not have your AC friend code, or do they not have your Wii friend code as well?

As for the Mole Cricket, you know how when you wander around town, you hear the chirp of a bug? It's loud in certain places. Dig around the area where the sound is coming from. You may have to dig many holes to find it.

As for the ant, I'm trying to remember... Do you put turnips on the ground and let them rot?

It took me at least four or five days to figure out the bee thing. You do indeed shake the tree and when the hive falls, run north. Turn around and equip the net. Then, just when you think it's too late, swing. It's really a timing thing. You'll figure it out eventually. When I finally got it a couple days ago, I went around town and caught three more bees with no problem.

No, no. They don't have Animal Crossing at all. I have their Wii code. I was hoping to send them a picture from Animal Crossing. I guess that doesn't work.

EDIT: one of my residents asked me to catch another kind of bug for them and I said sure, and now... I can't remember what it was. Oops. I'm sure I can ask them again, though. It wasn't any of the above mentioned bugs. Something completely different. I definitely don't know how or where to catch it. That much is for certain. :)

Yeah, you have to allow some of your turnips to spoil outside your house. You will see the ants swarming around them in no time. If you want to nab flies, simply throw old tires, cans and boots you catch next to the water. Flies will start appearing.

Bees are tricky. It truly is a matter of getting the timing down!
 
Wow i turned this game on today after a week or so of not playing it and i was so bored. I got a rossetti statue from tortimer, but i didnt even go back to my house to see what it looked like. Oh and ruby left my town, she was one of my favorites. :(

I'd imagine it shows up in their Wii Message Board. I also have my mobile and gmail addresses registered, so I should be able to send a pic to those addresses as well.
 
I donated my 200,000 bells to Pelly and she just said "Thanks." No mention of the new bridge. Does this take awhile or should she have said it right away?

Tomorrow there should be a notice posted or when you talk to Pelly she will ask you to vote on the location. Just don't do what I did and keep giving money. I donated enough for a bridge and a fountain and I found out the hard way that the 400,000 bells just disappear.

Stitches is packing up and leaving my town!? fuck! Wife's playing right now and found his house packed up and he's bolting! He's the only NPC I like over there. He's like the closest to a virtual hetrosexual life-mate one can get, and he's leaving. I've got about four others I've treated like total shit and they won't move, but the one that I like and do stuff for is packing up? WTF!

Oh yeah, and turnips are at 75 bells.

Do you have to donate it all at once, or can it be done in bits and pieces? I donated a little earlier on when I didn't know what it was. I'm wondering if that counted toward the bridge. Also wondering if different people can donate toward the same thing. So, for example, if I donated 100,000 bells and my kids donated 50,000 each, would that get us the bridge?

I think the key to keeping NPCs you like from moving out is to talk to them every day. If they are thinking about moving they will say so and then you can tell them not to. Of course, I'm not sure.

It's 200,000 first for the Bridge, then you don't donate til they allow you to
then 500,000 for the fountain, then "....................................................."
then 1 million for the lighthouse/windmill

And the donations can be done in pieces, one kid does 50,000, another does 50,000 some other time = 100,000, then the man of the town throws down 400,000 adding up to 500,000 for the fountain.

Like someone said don't give more than you have to, first time I got my bridge I gave up 300,000 or something and the extra 100,000 doesn't go towards the fountain.

Yeah, I've heard you make sure to talk to them and write them letters sometimes. I pretty much talk to all the neighbors everyday (never know when someone has a gift for you or wants your bug/fish at a higher price than Crook's). I did have one, a schizophrenic sheep, that said she's moving, and when I replied with good she said she can't because she's got no where else to go. Srsly. Why can't we use the axe on these NPCs?

Alternatively, the man of the town could say to his kids, "Gather up that fruit laying about and sell it to Mr. Nook... and you'll get no supper until I see a lighthouse!" Lucky for them I enjoy the job as money-earner (at least in AC:CF). :)
 
Darkpumpkin - do you need the Lovely Chair? It was at my Nooks so I bought it. I'll send it to you if you need it.

Also, you've got to do better then a hazmat barrel. ;-) :)

Speaking of which, Prof Who, were you the one looking for Robo stuff? I still have that chair, and the neighbors gave me two other pieces, the sofa and something else. I'm not on that much anymore since the game keeps pissing me off and my siblings have taken over the town, but if you want it, I could log on whenever.

Prof - I have some of the robo stuff too. I have the dresser, sofa, table and lamp. I think that's it. I can order any of those from my catalog for you (I'd like to keep what I've got.) I'd like to get the chair too. What robo stuff do you have? EDIT2: OH!!! And I have the RoboTV.

Edit: turnip prices have been lousy so far (haven't checked today yet). I am in the market this week too.
 
I got the roboTV, robowalls, stereo, floor, and couch. I will be happy to get you any of the stuff I have.

Right now my turnips are at 132. That is 30 bells better than what I bought them for.
 
I think I only need the robo table, lamp, and stereo. I'm pretty sure I've got everything else. So if you two need the chair (or anything else robo), I can place some on order from Crook's and send it out to you.

edit: or the bed, I didn't see either of you list the robo bed if you need one.

So is it: 2x robo table, 2x robo lamp, 1x robo dresser? Right? I think what I need is: robo chair, robowall, robo stereo, robo floor and anything else I'm missing and may not know about. What else is there?

And speaking of turnips, I'm still looking for a place to sell and I should be online tonight. I'll check my price for all, of course, but so far this week has again been abysmal in my town. Last night it was something like 57 bells.

This morning it was at 177 bells in my town, I hope that this afternoon it will break the 200 mark and I will sell . I will put in an order for a Robowall, steel floor (I think that is the one that goes with the robo stuff), and a robostereo this afternoon.

BTW, last night I made a killing fishing. 80,000 bells during the snow.
 
I thought it says Robo flooring, I'll double check tonight and order you both one if it is. I'll also order 2 robo beds and 2 chairs.
